Many folks around town have raved about this little restaurant bar so we gave it a shot. Service…read moreupon entering was welcoming, many open tables and lots of seating options. The bar was quiet, calm, dark and cold but seemed like a chill vibe. Our waitress was okay, service was quick and she did her job well but didn't smile and wasn't very talkative or seemingly friendly. We asked what her favorite appetizers were and we ordered the Loaded Potato Balls based on her recommendation - they were great! 10/10! Loaded with flavor, very moist and served with 3 sauces - ranch, spicy ranch and sour cream. The ranch and spicy ranch were not great - tastes like they're bottled not homemade. The sour cream though, that was a good compliment. We both ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich - 10/10! They're hand breaded, juicy and tender chicken breasts topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo on a perfectly warm brioche bun. Our meal was served so hot, it was perfect. I would absolutely go back just for this sandwich! The homemade chips for the side were great, crispy and lightly seasoned. I had the tater tots with mine and they tasted freezer burnt, wouldn't get them again. We also had a side of their house made coleslaw and it was perfect, ice cold and a great balance of flavor. Draft beer wasn't super cold - it would be better served in a frosted glass. Overall- it's good, we'd come again! Next time we'd sit at the bar top as the bartenders seemed to enjoy more casual conversation and friendly vibes with their customers.

My wife and I were visiting Bay City for the first time and needed a late night meal. Being a…read moreSunday night the kitchen was closing at 10pm and even though we only had three minutes to order, our waiter Pat, just told us he would get the order in. Although they were fairly busy the food came out in 10 minutes. We ordered fried mushrooms, they were the usual you get anywhere but for the price, it was above average in quantity! I love salads so I ordered a side salad thinking it would be small and a start to my meal, it was huge for a side salad. I was full after my salad and a few mushrooms. The grilled cheese and crinkle fries were tasty and portion size was way more than expected for the price. Now to the best meal of all...the Monte Cristo was AMAZING paired with sweet potato fries!!! My wife ordered this and I have never had it so I tried a bite, WOW! Portion sizes compared to price were outstanding! I can't say enough good about my experience. They are located right next to the river so be sure to walk over and take in the water.

It's OK, but I generally find myself going there as sort of a last resort because I can't never seem to find things on the menu that I want. A lot of people love it and I can't say that I've had a bad meal, but I haven't heard anything that was spectacular either.

Our bartender/server was terrific and very friendly! We queued up some music on their AMI jukebox and ordered drinks. I decided on a tall draft IPA while my wife decided on iced tea. For our meals, I decided on a cup of ham and bean soup and their salmon salad. My wife ordered the ham & cheese on a pretzel bun with the house chips. It was served hot. I really don't think the chips were house made. They seemed to be out of the bag. Though the ham was a little on the salty side, she enjoyed her sandwich. I liked my salmon salad overall; however, it was made with iceberg lettuce making it taste very pedestrian.

I had the chef salad and it was pretty good - dressing on the side dressing was gross. Hubby had a burger it was just OK. But my wine and his beer were cheap and the waitress was awesome and we didn't get the weird parasite that's going around Michigan so they must wash the lettuce -:) anyways I'd go back for a drink and appetizers and a nostalgic country town dive bar experience-
