We moved into our new home 21 years ago and had Mark install our brick paver patio. All these years later it still looked great but we decided an update was required. Mark came out somehow remembered us and that my wife was pregnant and had the baby during the initial install. He was patient never pushy which is what I liked and remembered about him. We needed to replace a very poorly constructed pergola that was installed at the same time as our paver patio. The pergola posts had heaved badly (popped out of the ground by 6 inches) and in the process ruined the surrounding pavers. The patio also had some sunken spots,and some areas where the edges had sagged due to the previous contractor using sub-par materials. We opted to replace the pergola with a covered pavilion and have the patio repaired, cleaned, and sealed. I could not be happier with this project. I dealt directly with the owner Mark, and he was tremendously responsive during the entire process. I usually expect a reply within 24 hours, and Mark was much quicker than that. Since I had been burned by the previous contractor, I was a high maintenance client, but Mark never made me feel like one. He patiently explained my options, explained the construction methods, and provided several different options. When the work started, I couldn't believe the difference in the quality and attention to detail. For example, where my previous contractor failed to dig the posts beneath the frost line, and then used a substandard amount of concrete, Arrowhead dug footings a full 48" deep and poured a substantial footing so the posts could be fastened using industry standard Simpson ties. The pavilion itself is beautiful. As I watched the construction I was impressed with the carpenters constantly checking for squareness, and the tightness of the construction. The lead carpenter was also very approachable, and spend some time with me talking about options. In fact, I made a change to what I wanted as far as electrical was concerned, and I was accommodated without question. Finally, as an example of what kind of contractor Arrowhead is, I mistakenly got the pavers wet before the sealer dried. Though it was my fault, Mark made sure it was fixed. His crew also fixed my patio stairs without being asked, and without charge. I highly recommend this company. read more

This review is for Arrowhead Brick Pavers in Warrenville, IL. My mom spent over $30,000 to have a large patio done with pavers and natural stone about 3 years ago. The workmanship and customer service was and continues to be poor. Different sections of the patio are settling at different rates. It appears they did not excavate enough or sufficiently tamp the sand/gravel foundation. After 2 winters, adjacent pavers are already vertically offset by up to 1/2". The spacing between stones/pavers is extremely inconsistent, especially along curves but also on the stones set closer to the end of the project (I presume they got lazy or were pressured to work faster). The spacing varies from 0" to over 1", which I think you'll agree is completely unacceptable. Worst of all, one of the planters they made is falling apart. Instead of alternating stones from the adjacent walls in the corners to give it strength, they mitered the stones. As a result of this and what looks to be an insufficient foundation, the walls of the planter are separating. My mom is too nice and has only complained about the planter falling apart. Even so, multiple deadlines/promises to fix it have come and gone with no work done and no communication. Each time my mom has to call back to find out what happened. Each time, they say they are too busy and promise to come back within the next month. If you hire Arrowhead Brick Pavers, watch their workmanship like a hawk and pray for no problems to arise. read more

I had been planning my "dream backyard" for the past five years. I met with Jim Mayorga and he could see my vision. He was so patient and came and met with my husband and I on several occasions as we tweaked things many times to make it perfect. Jim offered his excellent knowledge and opinions on certain stones and brick that he thought would work the best for our patio. I really appreciated Jim's professionalism and honesty. We had an exiting patio that I wanted replaced and expanded, and he suggested using that brick for my walkway leading from the garage to the back, instead of disposing of it. His office staff was always courteous and helpful with any questions I ever had, and extremely professional. Jim's crew completed our "dream backyard" in less thsn 2 weeks. They were extremely hard workers, respectful and friendly. Jim was here every day checking on his crew, but also making sure they had everything they needed. The team at Arrowhead made time for us in the middle of the summer to get a patio installation done that finished before the end of August. Sal led the team, leading the work on grueling Naperville permits. He even coordinated with our electrician, demolished our old wooden deck and bought panels of our old siding and custom fixed the siding where the deck used to be. At the end of the project, it was less than two weeks of work. We have a beautiful patio including a fire pit, brick wall, gorgeous step up to our house, and a huge cedar pergola that was custom-built right on our property. My cedar deck's deterioration was getting to the point where I was no longer going to waste money on stain. My neighbor had gotten a price to do a brick paver patio from Arrowhead Brick Pavers. I called up, and made an appointment with Jim, one of the owners a year ago. Jim walked us through all of the selections in the Unilock catalog. Unilock has come a long way with their products, and there were a variety of great looking options to choose from. Jim drew up a plan for the new patio, and priced the work. Surprisingly it was not too much more than a new wood deck, and I will never have to stain it again! We called Jim back a year later. He held his price, and we negotiated a few other small items. I work in construction, and one problem I have always had with residential contractors is scheduling, showing up, and staying through completion of the work. Arrowhead calls you to schedule the work, and they call and notify you if they need to leave or won't be showing up do to rain etc. Jim has a smart phone and we stayed in contact through texting and phone calls. I felt that there was terrific communication through the whole process. I would say I was a difficult client, and Jim worked with me through completion. Arrowhead has a 3 year warranty. Our job is finished and we are very pleased. I plan to do the driveway and walkup in brick pavers in a few years and will use Arrowhead again. Give them a call. read more
