Convinient music shop with great service! I've been to this shop maybe twice before my last visit. Once for a strap and once for drumsticks. This was during middle school in the late 90's when we kept busy with drumsticks rather than fidget spinners. I came in for a full service adjusment on my banjo. Having provided the strings, my total came to $44. Which I beleive is a pretty great deal. I saved time and money by avoiding Guitar Center/Sam Ash and coming here. This is a small shop with a limited selection of items but they can order what you need. The owners are really helpful and nice. Support local small businesses like this one! read more

I was a student with Arrow Music back in the day when they were on the other location, close to the supermarket. I've known the owners for years and even though I haven't gone or seen them. I can assure that they do teach well, as far as the basics go. You'll probably, if your consistent, learn upto level 4 or 5. But don't expect complete mastery over the instruments. I'm not saying this to put down this business, but let's face the facts. Most parents, if not most people who are willing to learn a new hobby or in this case, instrument, won't go as far as a year. Most quit at 6 months. Mastering anything takes dedication, discipline, and practice. Learning to play an instrument is no different. In all what I'm trying to say is learning the basics to an intermediate level is a great way to start at Arrow Music Center. People are friendly and they have recitals every 6 months, if I'm not mistaken. Take your kid or take classes yourself if you wish, you'll definitely learn the basics at least. PS: They also sell instruments, sheet music, and instrument equipment. Youll find guutars, violins, electric guitars, guitar amps, keyboards, flutes, drums, and probably trumpets. They also tune your instruments for a fee. read more

I too took lessons from Arrow Music back in the late 90's when they were at their old location. Without posting a snobby response or review I can say that they're pretty good. Did they make me a master guitar player? No. Did they foster a lasting love of music in me? They most certainly did; that's as much as any music teacher can really hope for. I've been playing and writing music for 15 years now and Arrow is where I got started. I took classes there for a few months, got what I needed and the rest of my learning and playing was up to me. That's more or less how it would be for anyone else who wants to learn to play music. If you want to learn, they're a good place to start. If you go a few times and decide it's not for you then that's cool too. You don't have a whole lot to lose unless you get overzealous and buy a $2000 instrument before knowing if it's your thing. As far as their prices on musical stuff, I think they're a bit pricey. I think it's pretty exorbitant to pay almost $2 to buy a single guitar string when a whole pack of six costs $4 at guitar center, but hey, what can you do? They're a small business. Some things cost more than at big corporate stores. You weigh the good and bad. All in all they're pretty good. end of story read more

It has been 14 years of playing the beautiful instrument of guitar. Every now and then I get asked the question of "were did I learn". I think about it and go back in time. I was a teenager walking down Tweedy Blvd about to enter my very first guitar lesson. That one lesson changed my life. I got really good at the instrument. The class was very clear. The class was very effective. I still use those methods and I'm 30 now. Years passed and went in to take a lesson with the owner Russ again . Thinking ...I wonder if I need to go elsewhere? Lol. I was wrong .... The man still taught me some new things. Meaning he himself had evolved . If your in South Gate consider yourself lucky to have this Gem of a Music Store. Not only will Russ know what he is talking about he always treats people great. I'm sure any class your son or daughter takes will impact them in a positive way. This is where my love for playing and listening to musical instruments began! I took classes here for three years on drums, and a couple months on the bass and electric guitar. This place really changed my life. Soon after, I became too busy in school so I was no longer able to come take lessons. I was however convinced that I should not end my musical abilities there. I joined band in both middle school and high school and learned how to play the saxophone which wasn't so hard due to prior experience and knowledge I had with other instruments and music. I completely recommend this place, especially for parents who don't want their children wasting their lives away on screens at home. That's how my childhood would've been if it wasn't for the music teachers here at Arrow Music. The music teachers here really care about the kids. If you're an adult and sign up or if you sign up your child, the concerts they host every couple months will show either yours or your child's progress. Nothing will make you happier than knowing they were able to make such incredible transformations to a persons' musicianship. They teach you so well, and its a lot of fun. Right now, I'm in college and I'm not majoring in music or anything, but I'm not even lying, music is how I got into a great University. Music helps you become more disciplined and at the same time, it increases one's intelligence and creativity. I recommend getting lessons here a try because I'm sure they can impact any one else the way they did to me. read more

In my opinion i dont like this place...its stupid expensive and the lessons are not very long...there is a old woman that works there,she gave me some attitude because i wanted specific strings, and i was not being rude at all...never went back again. Ohh and stay away from the drums. read more

Have you ever wanted to learn to play an instrument? Look no more, I recommend this place! I have two of my children taking piano lessons at Arrow Music Ctr. for the past years. They love their instructor Rosa. She is very helpful, patient, keeps my children motivated to push them to the next level in their piano lessons. As a busy mom with my children's busy extra-curricular activities Rosa always works with their yearly changing schedule. My children feel so good coming here and enjoy earning rewards. They are rewarded in each class lesson while showing improvement they earn tickets, can either accumulate them to chose a bigger prize or turn them in for a treat! The music center also sells various instruments, accessories etc. Her husband Russ always so helpful and courteous with all our questions. In addition, We always look forward to the fun and wonderful recitals because this is when we get to show off to our relatives how far our children have gone with playing the piano and even now with their vocals. My youngest just turn 4 and we are looking forward her joining Arrow Music Center soon. Both of my sons are currently taking piano classes with Rosa. She is a wonderful music teacher. Both of my boys enjoy learning the piano because she is a very patient, caring and has a great ability to teach young and older kids (I'm sure adults too). My oldest son has been taking piano classes with Rosa since he was 3 1/2 years old and he is now 10. My youngest son started when he was 4 1/2 and is now 7 1/2 years old. Rosa is a very dedicated and great instructor. When I watch and listen to my boys play the piano, it just amazes me to see all that they have learned.
