My first review of my living space! Let's dive in…read more 5 Stars for Location: For the price you get, this is a really HOT location. I would even say very user friendly if you have a disability. A LAKE in-front of apartment. A beautiful park(Wooded area, Tennis courts, BBQ Picnic sheds, Volleyball court, baseball field) and a Golf course across the street! Great grocery stores, Gas station, USPS post office, Pharmacies, Restaurants list goes on... less than 5 minutes drive. Best of all, it's on quiet streets. You get no noise from traffic. 5 Stars for Building Amenities: On Every floor: trash chutes and laundry room In Every building: Storage rooms(affordable) and recycling bins. Mail area & Lux Locker rooms. The lockers are a beautiful addition, for any large packages you don't have to go to the leasing office anymore. The Lux locker system texts/emails you a code and you can retrieve your item 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in your building. Extremely convenient! Nice onsite gym & Pool, I don't use it much since I utilize the beautiful park daily! 5 Stars for Floor Plan/Layout: We moved from a HUGE house and were concerned how we will adjust in a small confined space. It was no problem at all. The floor plans are very intelligently laid out. I use 95% of all my apartment! Open plan with lots of storage space. Lots of sunlight if your apartment, if it is East facing like mine, I can't speak for the rest. The lake views are simply amazing, even my bedroom has a lake view! The His & Hers closet are excellent, my first 1 bedroom apartment that has this feature. Bathroom and Kitchen, both have alot of space... you will see from the pictures I shared. 4 Stars for Quality/Luxury: Disclaimer: I moved from an almost brand new, huge and luxurious southern home. I know luxury at a different scale. The kitchen I got, post the upgrade, can definitely be classified luxurious. A month after we moved our kitchen counter tops were changed to black granite. Our dishwasher was extremely noisy and was replaced. I would highly encourage you to get your kitchen upgraded if you are offered that(it's free). It is worth the trouble (honestly it was actually no trouble at all), especially if you spend alot of time in your kitchen, like I do. The bathroom, cabinets are luxurious, but that's it. Our Mirror came with 3 large black spots, I don't mind it though now. The tub and bathroom counter tops weren't in good condition. I requested them to paint both, and they did fulfill my request. I was hoping for a nicer bathroom counter top... since the apartments are called luxury :S The bedroom, very quiet, we sleep peacefully. BUT, we used a space heater. The heating HVAC was too loud for us. Now in summers the same HVAC doesn't make the same level of noise for cooling.. thankfully! We were concerned what we would do in the summers. However the heating was a no-no, so at night time we would shut it off and use a space heater. We already owned a space heater so didn't bother to ask the maintenance staff about this, maybe they could have fixed it? Overall: the wooden floors throughout the apartment make cleaning a breeze! The quality of closets is ok, Not luxurious, but use-able. 5 Stars for Staff: I have mostly worked with Christina and absolutely loved working with her. Very professional and actually smiles(LOL). I have lived in alot of apartments but the leasing staff is never this friendly, really. The maintenance staff is a gem! They are a bit lean on the # of maintenance folks considering the size of the community. But I will still say they do complete the maintenance requests timely enough, if not I don't mind calling and giving friendly reminders ;) 5 Stars for the residents: Very diverse pool of residents! It's almost feels like attending a peace conference. Family friendly, pet friendly, quiet and safe. I will make a point, in winters you can smell some spices in hallways and elevators due to trapped air circulation. But it stopped bothering me after sometime. As long as my apartment smells like how I would like it to smell. Some residents have been living here more than 20 years... I think that speaks alot about how much people like living here. Additional Notes: We rented this apartment for short term, 7 months. This was probably the only one that offered a 7 months lease, or anything shorter than a year within the area. Major plus. Now when you go month-to-month it gets VERY expensive. You pay $300 per month for every month to renew, plus a steep rent on top. Keep this in might when determining the duration of your lease. Major Minus. Long review! thanks for reading!

Have been a resident since 2018. I recently welcomed my son to the world. That being said it is…read moretime to move on and find a bigger place. I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

I love how there is so much open yard space and trees by every apartment. There is even a park nextdoor with a walking path, fishing pond with fountain, and playground. Pets are allowed so you will often see neighbors walking their dogs. They have lots of different types of apartments but I lived first in a one bedroom and then switched to a two bedroom- both had gas stoves and remodeled/great quality kitchen. The shelves and everything were sturdy and things rarely broke. If something did break or not work I could call maintenance and they were so nice and usually there by the next day. The only problems I ever had were a few times in the spring I got ants in the kitchen and you have to wait til wednesday when their exterminator can come but if you ask in the mean time they will drop off traps. Also it's coin laundry in each building ($1.25 load), and sometimes those machines broke but if they did you call the number on the machine- they do take a few days to come but if you ask they will refund the money you wasted on that load and you can ask tgm for a temp key for the day for other buildings to use their laundry (you just give them an id while you have the key). Tgm uses comcast or at&t I believe and allow dishes but it depends on if they can put it in certain locations by your specific apartment. The walls are white or this light brown color that I'm not a fan of (you can paint but must paint it back before move out) and there is a light brown carpet. The carpet is like any apartment complex, kind of cheap- but every year only if you ask, you can request a free carpet cleaning when you sign your new lease. They have a 24hr gym that is spacious and not often too busy. There is a trainer Tim that works there that is amazing! They have a two tennis courts that are kept somewhat in good condition. There are gated areas to let dogs run free around the complex and tons of free poop pickup bag stands. They have two pools- one is right by the gym but it is very very very tiny. The other larger one is by the clubhouse and is a decent size and only a few times in the summer will you have trouble getting a lawnchair spot. The clubhouse has key fob entrance (just like gym and pool) and you can bring however many guests you want. The clubhouse and gym have free wifi. The clubhouse sometimes has your packages to sign out or the driver may just leave them in your mailroom by your apt, but I've never had anything stolen. The clubhouse has nice mac computers but you can only access them at certain times and I often had problems with them- I couldn't login, I couldn't print (no ink or paper), a mouse was missing, etc. if you ask sometimes they can fix the problem. The staff are hit or miss- some are super friendly and helpful, others are flat out mean/rude and act annoyed if you ask any question. You just learn who to go to for assistance. When we resigned our lease or moved out we never had any issues. We even got some of our deposit back. Parking is free for you and guests and there are always spots available. You can grill if you keep the grill a good distance from your patio. Your bills are nicor gas, aum, commed, your internet/cable, and rent only. The train station is about two miles away in clarendon hills which is a cute little town with nice restaurants and things to walk to in the summer. There is a jewel within walking distance as well just a few blocks away. Tgm is great about plowing and salting in the winter. There are large outside dumpsters for trash close to every apartment. I honestly loved living here. We only moved because of a nearby plant that the news shared was putting out extra pollutants and chemicals in the air, but I heard it recently closed. I would definitely recommend Tgm to friends and family.

I have lived here for four years; I have never caused issues or been late on rent, and was just…read moreblindsided by a $336 rent increase in my renewal offer. There have been no updates to my apartment in the time I've been here--the carpet is cheap and was still being incorrectly installed when I moved in (my father is a carpenter, I could tell their workers were not well trained or professional and did slap jobs), our blinds are crooked and break with the slightest wind, they performed "energy saving" drilling in our ceiling a year ago that was left spottily covered up with un-sanded down plaster and not painted (they also left plaster over all my belongings, including in my cats' food and water bowls, which could have poisoned them), and the hall ways/common areas are rarely cleaned and gross. I've only stayed in this apartment as long as I have because my cats are seniors and become very stressed/ill when they need to go in the car; I am resistant to move so I put up with the property's shortcomings. The apartment is also very close to my job, where I teach long hours. But I am not renewing here--a 24% rent increase should be criminal and it's outrageous for how low quality the apartment is. On top of that, the office never answers their phone (sometimes you have to press the extension number for prospective renters--then they'll answer! They just refuse calls from actual tenants), the coin laundry breaks down and eats money regularly (you'll never get your money back, they'll tell you to call the number on the machines who will also never answer/return calls), they give you less than 48 hour notice for apartment entry or car moving, so if you plan on taking a vacation be aware your privacy can be violated and car towed. They've put work in recently to make the outside of the apartments look nicer so they can lure new renters, but don't be tricked: a digital intercom system and freshly painted parking lot aren't worth the low quality and high prices. It's a facade of luxury so they can charge ridiculous prices. I suggest looking elsewhere.

They have public laundry rooms but if you pay more you can have a washer and dryer in your apartment. It's very useful if you like to do laundry late at night. Some of the apartments will have walk-in closets. If you live upstairs you'll have a nice balcony. Maintenance is very good here, they respond quickly. The apartment staff is very pleasant and helpful. They provide cat sitting in case you're out of town. They can only change the food and water, they can't empty the cat litter. Your neighbors in your building are very kind. They'll bring in your packages and set it by the mail area. That's if it's not too heavy or bulky. Cons: Spacious parking although you'll find that people don't have parking skills. Your "neighbors" also drive like idiots here. They either drive super slow or they pull out in front of you. Be wary that these neighbors also like to walk in front of cars vs using the sidewalks. Like anywhere else, you got morons living close to you. It's relatively safe but you do see a bunch of random weirdos that drive around the parking lots and not really stopping. Overall about a 3.5 due to the incompetent drivers, idiots, and weirdos.

They don't answer phone calls or respond to emails--yet if you walk into the office, you'll often find them sitting at their desks chatting with each other instead of doing their jobs. It's frustrating and unprofessional. They have no problem sending out email after email with restrictions and demands, but when it comes to communicating with residents or addressing real concerns, they go completely silent. To make matters worse, on April 28th, they turned off the heat while the outside temperature is currently 47 degrees. When I tried to contact Marquette Companies (located in Naperville) during business hours, no one answered. Just another voicemail. Overall, it's not a bad place but by no means is it perfect. During my thirteen years living there, I found that the strong points of Ascot Glen were the maintenance, the location, and the fact that none of the apartment complexes nearby measured up (e.g., the ones in Westmont -- ugh). Yeah, there was some petty crime, and some of the wrong types of people occasionally showing up, but I never felt unsafe living there. The buildings are going on thirty years old, and as a previous reviewer indicated, the condition of your appliances might be subpar. Mine sure were, and the dryer in the building NEVER worked properly despite having been replaced twice... blocked ducts?
