25% rent hike. Lived there a year and had no complaints but that's just absurd. Look elsewhere.

My first review of my living space! Let's dive in…read more 5 Stars for Location: For the price you get, this is a really HOT location. I would even say very user friendly if you have a disability. A LAKE in-front of apartment. A beautiful park(Wooded area, Tennis courts, BBQ Picnic sheds, Volleyball court, baseball field) and a Golf course across the street! Great grocery stores, Gas station, USPS post office, Pharmacies, Restaurants list goes on... less than 5 minutes drive. Best of all, it's on quiet streets. You get no noise from traffic. 5 Stars for Building Amenities: On Every floor: trash chutes and laundry room In Every building: Storage rooms(affordable) and recycling bins. Mail area & Lux Locker rooms. The lockers are a beautiful addition, for any large packages you don't have to go to the leasing office anymore. The Lux locker system texts/emails you a code and you can retrieve your item 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in your building. Extremely convenient! Nice onsite gym & Pool, I don't use it much since I utilize the beautiful park daily! 5 Stars for Floor Plan/Layout: We moved from a HUGE house and were concerned how we will adjust in a small confined space. It was no problem at all. The floor plans are very intelligently laid out. I use 95% of all my apartment! Open plan with lots of storage space. Lots of sunlight if your apartment, if it is East facing like mine, I can't speak for the rest. The lake views are simply amazing, even my bedroom has a lake view! The His & Hers closet are excellent, my first 1 bedroom apartment that has this feature. Bathroom and Kitchen, both have alot of space... you will see from the pictures I shared. 4 Stars for Quality/Luxury: Disclaimer: I moved from an almost brand new, huge and luxurious southern home. I know luxury at a different scale. The kitchen I got, post the upgrade, can definitely be classified luxurious. A month after we moved our kitchen counter tops were changed to black granite. Our dishwasher was extremely noisy and was replaced. I would highly encourage you to get your kitchen upgraded if you are offered that(it's free). It is worth the trouble (honestly it was actually no trouble at all), especially if you spend alot of time in your kitchen, like I do. The bathroom, cabinets are luxurious, but that's it. Our Mirror came with 3 large black spots, I don't mind it though now. The tub and bathroom counter tops weren't in good condition. I requested them to paint both, and they did fulfill my request. I was hoping for a nicer bathroom counter top... since the apartments are called luxury :S The bedroom, very quiet, we sleep peacefully. BUT, we used a space heater. The heating HVAC was too loud for us. Now in summers the same HVAC doesn't make the same level of noise for cooling.. thankfully! We were concerned what we would do in the summers. However the heating was a no-no, so at night time we would shut it off and use a space heater. We already owned a space heater so didn't bother to ask the maintenance staff about this, maybe they could have fixed it? Overall: the wooden floors throughout the apartment make cleaning a breeze! The quality of closets is ok, Not luxurious, but use-able. 5 Stars for Staff: I have mostly worked with Christina and absolutely loved working with her. Very professional and actually smiles(LOL). I have lived in alot of apartments but the leasing staff is never this friendly, really. The maintenance staff is a gem! They are a bit lean on the # of maintenance folks considering the size of the community. But I will still say they do complete the maintenance requests timely enough, if not I don't mind calling and giving friendly reminders ;) 5 Stars for the residents: Very diverse pool of residents! It's almost feels like attending a peace conference. Family friendly, pet friendly, quiet and safe. I will make a point, in winters you can smell some spices in hallways and elevators due to trapped air circulation. But it stopped bothering me after sometime. As long as my apartment smells like how I would like it to smell. Some residents have been living here more than 20 years... I think that speaks alot about how much people like living here. Additional Notes: We rented this apartment for short term, 7 months. This was probably the only one that offered a 7 months lease, or anything shorter than a year within the area. Major plus. Now when you go month-to-month it gets VERY expensive. You pay $300 per month for every month to renew, plus a steep rent on top. Keep this in might when determining the duration of your lease. Major Minus. Long review! thanks for reading!

Have been a resident since 2018. I recently welcomed my son to the world. That being said it is…read moretime to move on and find a bigger place. I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

The high prices are because of the area and supposed amenities. For the location near grocery stores, the hwy, and the train on top of the amenities it makes sense, but to be honest it not worth it for the money anymore. Amenities are not maintained well and/or have very restrictive hours. The apartments are not well insulated so your utilities are typically really high no matter the season. The increasing amount of prohibited items on patios is getting out of hand. No rugs (even outdoor ones I guess), lights, bikes, storage items, drapes, or grills are allowed on your patio. You are however allowed to grill if you are 100ft away from the building. For 2,700 a month the inability to decorate your patio or store your bike out there(because the storage included with most patios is no where near big enough) is very disappointing. They put in communal grills to make up for the change of no longer allowing grills on patios, but theyre only close to the leasing office, so you'll have to walk a ways to get to one. They try to offset many downsides with outdoor movies and free donut day every once in a while. In regards to amenities: Gym is 24/7 and equipment is fine, but I really don't thinking its cleaned very well. Every time I go there is hair and dust all over the floor, which is disgusting because they have an area with yoga mats where you are very close to the ground doing your work out. The bathroom in the gym is connected to the pool and its not well maintained either, everything in there is falling apart. Pool next to the gym should be heated when weather drops below a certain temp, however it's not. The main pool was "down for maintenance" the first day it was advertised to be open for the season. They gave no notice other than a small sign taped on the gate. It was down for a while, which is interesting since they had plenty of time prior to it opening for the season for things to get fixed, as the weather had been good for a bit over a month. Sand volleyball area is not maintained at all. There is always goose poop, garbage, or other stuff in there that makes it unusable. There is a dog park that is again not maintained. There are tons patches where there is no grass just dirt, so when its slightly damp out your dog will be a muddy mess. There is supposed to be two tennis courts but one is always locked. Feels like the movie theater is just for show. You really can only use it on the weekends because it's only open during business hours and trying to get a hold of people in the leasing office to make an appointment is next to impossible, I suppose if you email them or go in person you might have better luck.

I live in a one bedroom with a patio. It's a good size for 1-2 people. You can have cats and dogs. They have a small gym, pool, basketball/tennis courts on the far left, and a sand volleyball court. They have public laundry rooms but if you pay more you can have a washer and dryer in your apartment. It's very useful if you like to do laundry late at night. Some of the apartments will have walk-in closets. If you live upstairs you'll have a nice balcony. Maintenance is very good here, they respond quickly. The apartment staff is very pleasant and helpful. They provide cat sitting in case you're out of town. They can only change the food and water, they can't empty the cat litter. Your neighbors in your building are very kind. They'll bring in your packages and set it by the mail area. That's if it's not too heavy or bulky. Cons: Spacious parking although you'll find that people don't have parking skills. Your "neighbors" also drive like idiots here. They either drive super slow or they pull out in front of you. Be wary that these neighbors also like to walk in front of cars vs using the sidewalks. Like anywhere else, you got morons living close to you. It's relatively safe but you do see a bunch of random weirdos that drive around the parking lots and not really stopping. Overall about a 3.5 due to the incompetent drivers, idiots, and weirdos.

Parking is included and the apartment amenities are nice (dishwasher, in-unit washer/dryer, intercom). I lived right at the corner of maple and 355 and the roads were LOUD, but I could shut out the noise if I closed all the windows. The only issue I had was that Bristol Club isn't really within walking distance of anything worthwhile. You pretty much have to drive to get to anything.

Turned Off Heat Too Early -- Uncaring and Unresponsive Management…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. The property management here is absolutely the worst I've ever dealt with. They don't answer phone calls or respond to emails--yet if you walk into the office, you'll often find them sitting at their desks chatting with each other instead of doing their jobs. It's frustrating and unprofessional. They have no problem sending out email after email with restrictions and demands, but when it comes to communicating with residents or addressing real concerns, they go completely silent. To make matters worse, on April 28th, they turned off the heat while the outside temperature is currently 47 degrees. When I tried to contact Marquette Companies (located in Naperville) during business hours, no one answered. Just another voicemail. This entire organization lacks basic customer service, professionalism, and accountability. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs.

They also advertise that they are non smoking but there are plenty of tenets here who smoke and when you complain to management about it all they do it send out an email and it doesn't go any further than that. management is never available to help you with anything you can call the office and they are always conveniently in a meeting not available or the office is closed early. Then when you go on your tour they will show you a beautiful model unit and the unit you actually move into looks nothing like that half of your appliances are used when I moved in our dishwasher didn't even work and the air conditioner had to be replaced. The snow removal process is a joke they only shovel the walk ways so you have to just hope you don't slip in the parking lot walking to or from your car cuz they won't shovel it. the hallways are horribly ventilated always smell like smoke or garbage one time someone threw up down the hallways and stairs and when I complained about it I was told it was not an emergency and it did not get cleaned until days later I could go on and on about my experiences here the only appealing thing about it is the neighborhood it's located in and overall if I could give this place a zero I would.

During my thirteen years living there, I found that the strong points of Ascot Glen were the maintenance, the location, and the fact that none of the apartment complexes nearby measured up (e.g., the ones in Westmont -- ugh). Yeah, there was some petty crime, and some of the wrong types of people occasionally showing up, but I never felt unsafe living there. The buildings are going on thirty years old, and as a previous reviewer indicated, the condition of your appliances might be subpar. Mine sure were, and the dryer in the building NEVER worked properly despite having been replaced twice... blocked ducts? All in all, I managed to make a good home at Ascot Glen for thirteen years before a job change forced me to relocate out of state. If you're looking for an apartment in the Willowbrook-Westmont area, Ascot Glen is about as good as it gets. However, if I had to do it again, I wouldn't have been so complacent as to spend as long living in the place as I did. FWIW... I hope this helps!

I was told that the unit I was getting was not viewable as it was being remodeled, which I was completely excited about until I got in the unit. Outside of the carpeting the only thing that was remodeled was the kitchen, meaning they put in new cabinetry and appliances. The bathroom seemed to be ok at first but after a week of being there I noticed that the vents were clogged with dirt and what seemed to be gum(this was also on the AC units), there were water bubbles and what seemed to be mold on the ceiling and baseboards, don't get me started on the linen closet. Maybe a few months into being there after routine cleaning paint started to peel from the tub-we used scrubbing bubbles that shouldn't have pulled paint from the tub. Maintenance seemed to care much more than management when it came to complaints, however the bathroom issues never got resolved. The closet doors in both rooms kept falling to the side so we just left them open. There was a balcony off from the master bedroom but we never used it in fear of it breaking. After complaining about it, management had workers come out and fix a number of balconies on other units but not ours. Unclear as to why. OUR NEIGHBORS: There was a Hispanic family that lived underneath us. They stayed running in and out(how do we know- they slammed doors coming and going), at the time I worked from home so this was very annoying. They would also play loud music early in the mornings and late at night. In the mornings it was ok, I could use a good jolt but at 1-2am? When trying to get fresh air, we couldn't without the smell of pot filling our unit. Not to mention the parties and two shootings. Funny part about all of this was that one of the management staffers(whom is Hispanic), stayed two doors down from them. You can't tell me she didn't hear or see the same things multiple tenants were complaining about. If this is not enough. My car was vandalized twice and when I reached out to management they DID NOT respond. They have cameras watching the dumpsters but none for the parking lot smh. We found two bed bugs in our kitchen after our neighbors moved out and guess what we did just that, complained and moved the hell out, but not before receiving a bunch of fees from management stating that due to us staying past our lease renewal date we'd have to pay $1900/month(as that was "market rent" of our unit) and claiming that the issues in the bathroom were our fault. Then instead of being asked how we would like to pay we were told that the balance HAD to be sent to collections.. OVERALL: Maintenance is pretty decent but the staff is a joke- they like to email fees and print out threats when fees aren't paid but they don't answer calls or handle known issues. Neighbors are amazing! We felt safe until the shootings. It was nice getting to know the mailman by name and having a shorter commute when I did have to go in office; however a peace of mind, I DID NOT HAVE and people come and go in large amts. People move in and out of apartments all the time, but five of my neighbors moved out within two months of each other, that is not normal. If you decide to live here, let it be temporary and beware of the fees and bugs.
