Broken door arm, at night, where it's perfect to hit someone in the head. Was not fixed for 24 hours.
    Marlena S.

UPDATE: Garage and security gates are almost always broken. People break into cars and the building all the time. Have stumbled upon homeless people sleeping outside under the stairs, and sneaking into the building to sleep at night. Over the course of summer '21, there was atleast 1 homeless person living in the roof stairwell of the South Building for an extended period of time. Food wrappers were everywhere. Again, leasing did nothing to improve security. Delana acted as if she did not know about the 3 homeless individuals who we found sleeping under the outside stairwell, either. One individual was let into the building over winter; he knocked on doors and tested to see if any were unlocked. Even getting Elizabeth in Leasing to do anything about finding and escorting him out was difficult. Packages have been stolen, including from in front of my door. Leasing knows about the security issues, theft and trespassing. They don't care. In the 3 years I've been here, nothing has ever been done to improve security. There have been 4 fire alarms in 2 months (one of which was on a night where the outside temperature was 17F, because a pipe was not properly insulated and burst). They spent money to increase Package Concierge, (w*hich means that the workspace in the lobby was gotten rid of) but have +-never made a single move to install more cameras in the hallways or fix broken security doors. They do not care about your safety. Maintenance staff is incredibly rude. One resident had asked for the maintenance man not to ride in the elevator with her, due to COVID and him being unmaked. She said he got in with her, put a mask on, and when she asked him again to please take the next elevator due to COVID concerns, he took off his mask, got in her face, verbally accosted her and accused her of not living at the apartments. I and others have had nothing but rude interactions with Dave in Maintanence. The Array has one of the highest rental rates in the Seattle area, in an area that is riddled with gun and drug violence. Over the summer of '21, there was 4 drive-by shootings on LCW in the span of 2 weeks: 2 targeted at Solara (1 man dead); 1 at Chipolte; and the other closer to The Array. Prior to the "Healthy Street" being set up, active drug deals were a regular occurance. Homeless still sleep in the park during summer, needles can be found in the vegetation. In '19, a man was murdered in Little Brook Park, directly across from The Array. A month or two later, there was an attempted robbery, where a man was shot as he fled to The Clocktower. There's now a sign that was found on the back path inside The Array warning about a pedophile. Again, Leasing was notified and nothing done. If you have kids, please be extremely careful. Original: First, someone tried to break into my apartment, while I was sleeping, not even my first full week in the apartment. I could hear my blinds hitting my door handle. At first, I wrote it off, "maybe someone coming home drunk and forgot which porch door was theirs". Then, some asshole in the garage has deliberately been scratching my car for the last two weeks. No, I don't think either is a coincidence anymore. Not a safe community. Worst decision to move here. I'll amend my review if any of this gets properly 5\/addressed, but I doubt it. Don't live here if you value your safety or life. There's a reason rent is low. Update: last week we had a HUGE p32021| olice presence because someone got shot in the ass at 143rd and 32nd, then chased to the Clocktower. Common spaces are often dirty. Maintenance is quick, but it sucks to live in such a dirty place.

Close your eyes and imagine walking to your very own parking spot inside your very own gated garage... Now, imagine finding your car windows bashed in with all your belongings stolen. Do you feel that? That feeling of shock and horror? Get used to that feeling, because at Array, it will happen over and over. Would you like to know the icing on the cake? You'll get no sympathy from anyone. Not management.. Not security... Maybe a little from maintenance, because they're the ones that have to help you sweep up the glass. My girlfriend and I have both had our cars broken into all within a timeframe of 3-4 weeks. At any time of the day, any day of the week, I could easily find a car in our garage that has recently been broken into. Our community is RIDDLED WITH CRIME. So unless you enjoy lackluster security responses and/or becoming best friends with the police hold line... then I would advise you to "stay away from Array" (Let that little jingle sink in, it will serve you well). I will post pictures for you.. Keep in mind that these are from one evening's worth of looting. They really knocked it out of the park tonight. 6 vehicles in one night! I wonder if they can beat their record? I would rather just leave my car windows down so I don't have to continue cleaning broken glass. I called security to inform them of this major issue (someone has to do it) and I was met with the most unenthusiastic, uninspired security officer on the line. I explained the state of chaos that these garages are in, and the only response I got was "is that it? We will look into it". You would find more inspiration from a pre teen on curfew doing their math homework. Let's rapid fire some additional perks: -crushed beer cans and broken glass and mirrors in the garage (in the same spot for weeks and will likely remain there until the end of time) -homeless people in the hallways -sleeping security guards in the main lobby -elevators that constantly smell like something died in them -fire alarms always going off Ever thought of yourself as someone who would purchase a self defense weapon? Neither did I. But I own one and carry it with me every morning while I escort my girlfriend to her car. I've only lived here for a month or two.. And I feel obligated to do what I can to warn people about the challenges we face every day. DO NOT GET YOURSELF IN THIS TRAP. Live on the east side if you can afford it. We are legally bound to this place for a year. Or we pay the early lease termination... but who has enough money for that?? Most of us don't. Maybe we can find a better use for this building and turn it into a halfway house? We're almost there folks, all that's left is the paperwork. Array, where is your motivation to help us? Your people here are scared & frustrated. Do your job and help your community. Count your rent money, roll up your sleeves, dig deep, and figure this out. Or this won't be an apartment complex for much longer. No renters = no money. If you can correct your crime issue, I will consider removing this review.

    Stained carpets at move in.
    Matt C.

This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Nothing but problems since the first day I moved in. Stained carpets, obvious pet odor from the previous tenant (refused to acknowledge on move-in check list), holes in the wall, janky drawstrings on blinds. And that's just what I saw at move-in. I reported a bug infestation before I had even put food in the kitchen. Have reported multiple infestations since move in and have completely given up on storing groceries at home. It is disgusting and they have literally never responded to my reports with attached photos. I order delivery on the regular or eat out to avoid using this disgusting kitchen. The property has a known package thief, as in the management literally knows exactly who it is because they've matched the video surveillance to one of their tenants, yet they refuse to do anything about it aside from closing a security gate over the package room outside of office hours. If you work outside your home between the hours of 10-5, good luck ever getting your packages. On that same note, multiple car break-ins in the garage, likely the same "neighbor". The package system is managed by a third party and they charge you a late fee if you don't retrieve your packages within 48 hours. The apartment office personnel refuse to accept packages from couriers or show them how to use out package system. Couriers consistently leave packages in the lobby since the security gate is so often blocking their way. I have pointed out to the manager that it is illegal to impede the delivery of post, never received a reply. If you have a dog, forget about safe walks around the block. Broken glass everywhere. No one picks up after their own dogs mess. If you don't have a dog, still look elsewhere for safe walks. I've lost count of how many times I've heard gunfire and seen notices of assaults outside our building. The apartment management is understaffed, under-qualified or just do not care. I have seen three different people in charge. The one that signed my lease agreement and toured me around originally (of course in a pristine unit), another that was always out on cigarette breaks and staring off into space anytime you reported any issues to her, and the current manager who I see more due to her living on my floor, but almost never in the office. The office hours posted are bogus. They come in late, leave early or don't open the office at all. Latest issue that's caused me to snap is their refusal to help in a locked door emergency. A family member of mine tried to unlock the door, flimsy key snapped in the lock. My ESA was inside and he was there to dogsit overnight. He went to the office to ask for help and while the apartment manager was there, she said there was nothing she could do after office hours, evidently not caring that my ESA would be locked in the unit for who knows how long had my cousin not called a locksmith. Locksmith tried to get the key out, but regardless without a spare key, he had to drill out the bolt to get my dog out. I called emergency maintenance the next day and they don't have spare door locks on premises and doesn't know when he'll have a replacement, not to mention it's going to cost me over $500. It's been 48 hours that my apartment cannot be locked and I don't have any word from anyone when it will be fixed. I am miserable in this apartment. These people running the place are useless. I will steer anyone considering to move here as far away as I can, any chance I get.

ATTENTION WARNING: Array "claims" that they sent an email to all their residents stating that they no longer accept oversized packages. One of the girls at the office said that there was an email sent out in October... Both my fiancé and I checked our emails and saw absolutely nothing pertaining information about how Array is no longer taking oversized packages! ***I have provided pictures to prove that my two packages were NOT oversized*** It gets better! Not only did Array refuse two of my packages, I found out that they refused both my packages because they did not have any space in the lockers??? How is this my responsibility?! And because Array refused my packages, I ended up going to the store to buy dog food when I should have had it on April 3, 2019. So frustrating and a huge waste of my time. This place is going down hill so quickly! Management sucks. Staff members in the front office are all incompetent and have ZERO training. The office is closed at the most random times and I refuse to speak with the staff members at the front office anymore because whenever I check in, it always turns into a "he said, she said story" super annoying. So, from now on, everything will be in written form, so I can have something to lean back on. That is how incompetent this apartment is. NO ONE HAS A CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING... BUT HERE'S THE GOOD PART! If you are looking for a place where you can get away with things like smoking cigarettes/marijuana inside your apartment, garage or any other illegal substances come live here because the office will never do anything. OH, also if you are the type of person who doesn't like to pick up after your dogs... COME LIVE HERE! There's plenty of dog poop for everyone to step on!! It's GREAT. If you love dealing with broken elevators, fire alarms at 3am, technical problems with the fob key COME LIVE HERE. In conclusion, you can get away with pretty much anything here. Hey Array apartment, if you are reading this I would love to see that email that was sent out in "October"! :] And maybe this is a good clue to start COMMUNICATING with your residents.. hmm..

Looks like someone broke my window and didn't leave a note.

The security has been a issues at this location. The garage is controlled accessed but my car window has been broken in the last month. (Photos attached). The security cameras does not cover the whole or better part of the garage. The security team that's hired are a joke. They are mostly sleeping when your car window is broken. Someone recently got into the stairway and liked to make music by beating on the walls at 1am. They also like to write cool things on the walls just so you know they were there. ‍‍ 1 Star only because I can't give a lower rating. I'm sure you will see a customer service manager under this post with damage control pretty soon. It's the norm to stay face.

I lived in the south building for 5 years, and was the first person to move into my unit. The first few years, I mainly dealt with Tara and Ryan who have long since moved on and they were excellent in terms of responding to any of my concerns in person or via email. Definitely a great complex to live in if you're looking to commute to downtown or UW, as there are various bus routes which will get you to where you need to go. The online payment system was easy via their RentCafe portal and their Package Concierge service is pretty useful since you can pickup your stuff when no one is in the office, note that they will start charging you after a few days I believe. They do regularly host community events like BBQs and Taco Tuesdays, and I'm not sure if this was the case early on (didn't seem like it or maybe their presence wasn't felt) but I noticed these events were getting sponsored by companies such as CenturyLink so expect a pitch. As it is in most apartment complexes, you will hear noise from neighbors (especially running in the rooftop area if you're below it) but more often than not the bigger issue (as mentioned by others) was the fire alarm that would get set off by pranksters with some regular occurrence at late hours. Unfortunately, like most places in Seattle they jacked up my rent to a higher level than that of someone who would agree to a new lease and I decided to move out, and this is where the fun begins! My official move out date was the 24th of June, and I was expecting a letter or an email with a detailed listing of all the move out charges (I paid a $200 deposit and did not expect to get it back due to the utility charges that were pending) but I never got one. Instead, I started getting weekly emails asking me to pay the balance (even after I subsequently paid) with no mention of any specific line items mentioning a deposit (which by law you are supposed to get within 21 days according to RCW 59.18.280.) I sent an email on the 24th of July asking about that, waited a week, and received no response. I called them on the 31st around lunch and could only get the sales pitch recording. I showed up the next day and spoke with Jeanette, who cleared things up somewhat; it turns out I had a $75.00 late fee tacked on, then removed (because my last payment wasn't late) but for some reason that wasn't reflected in their payment system. She printed out a detailed sheet which included the deposit amount and deducted that late fee; I was left under the impression that would get fixed, but it wasn't. On 8/5 I called the "Debt Logic, Inc." payment service which was mentioned in the emails I received, and I was told that "no account statement was sent to them" and to not worry until that happens, yet I had to pay the amount within twenty something days... OK? Their online payment system only allows you to pay the full amount (plus a $4.85 "handling fee",) not a partial sum; clicking on "Enter Payment Details" and "Change" takes on a never-ending loop. I ended up having to go back to the apartment building, handing the check over to Jeanette, got a receipt (very important) for the amount paid, and thought that was it... ... but lo and behold 3 months later after coming back from vacation, I get a debt collection notice from a "Columbia Debt Recovery DBA Genesis" for the wrong amount I was being billed for months earlier! So now, I have to challenge this BS, keep an eye on my credit rating, etc. because even though they're called Array, they can't keep their variables in order. So folks, when you decide to move out make sure to keep every paper, every receipt, have the contact info of all relevant state agencies handy, and lawyer up if necessary!

The security at array Apartments is horrible. There isn't any. The storeroom units inside the garage have been broken into repeatedly and everything in there gets trashed. There's absolutely no cameras, and the leasing office actually told me I should buy my own camera. I pay for the services and security that they are supposed to offer, and that should not be my job. You have to have renters insurance, but for what? Have yet to get any out reach from management. They don't care, at all

    Efficiency apartment.

When I moved out, they claimed several hours of sanding work required for repainting and were evasive about providing evidence that it actually took so long. Every lease renewal saw a giant jump in rates (9.9% one year), which we negotiated back down to sane levels. They use algorithmic pricing designed to worsen the housing crisis while maximizing their profits. They also recently decided to stop offering affordable housing units under the MFTE program. Building was frequently under repair, including elevators being out of service for months, which was incredibly difficult when my partner was recovering from knee surgery. The units, which are now finally undergoing renovation, were poorly lit with low quality fixtures like plastic track lights, vinyl flooring, and a prison shower head. The original office staff were quite unhelpful and antagonistic, prioritizing nagging residents about hallway door decorations (while simultaneously awarding prizes for holiday decorations??). This has improved with almost complete turnover in staffing. Maintenance staff have always been very responsive and helpful. Regarding Capitol Hill itself, the value of the neighborhood has really declined. If you want to pay $4,000/mo to live in walking distance of 15 boba tea shops and national fried chicken chains while ignoring the human misery all around you, go for it I guess.

Aesthetics: the apartments themselves look really nice Washer/dryer: in unit and actually good quality. I've had some awful laundry units in apartments but these are legit and work well. Cons: Break ins: I am not exaggerating when I say tenants are constantly getting their bikes stolen, it's a monthly occurrence at least. (Theres bike storage in the garage for tenants ) Storage in the apartment: it's crazy how much planning did not go into the actual apartment. For example: my pantry is a closet that has zero shelves....my bedroom closet didn't have a full hanger rack when I moved in. Little things that make zero sense. Some kitchens barely have a drawer for silverware. Things that you may not notice while doing a walk thru but notice once you move in. No AC or ventilation: this is common in Seattle, I get it but please pay attention to what direction your apartment faces. I face west and live in a loft. Heat rises. It is miserable hot. It can be 70 degrees outside but 78 inside because of the lack of airflow. Even with an AC unit (these help but you better keep all the shades down and keep it running ALLLL day/night - plus depending on your setup, you may have to move furniture around to use an AC unit) The complex has AC units available to rent ... it isn't even that hot yet and it's already hard to get my bedroom (upstairs) under 72 degrees by 9pm. The complex should offer free AC units with how hot these apartments get. When it's nice/window season, you may not want to open your window because of how loud the road is. Even on the 4th floor, if you leave your balcony door/windows open, you will wake up from traffic/buses/people on 24th and 65th. It's not quiet...at all. Amenities: these have gotten better but still not great compared to what you can get at other places. They have done some work on the rooftop but it's still just fine. No gym, TVs aren't great, etc. The building itself needs new carpet/fresh paint on the walls. Look at the stairwells. Yes, I'm being picky but for the price, it should look better. As a whole, these apartments are fine but overpriced for what they are. You are paying for location and a "good looking" apartment. For the price, they should come with AC units, have more amenities, and updates in the actual building. Management and maintenance are good, I haven't had any issues there. This review isn't meant to bash BPL but give future residents a heads up and an honest expectation of what it's like to live here. I wouldn't choose an East (am sun) or West (pm sun) facing loft apartment. Seriously, too hot. I bet south facing is your best bet (less busy road, no direct sun). Lofts are cute but I'd suggest a flat. Hope this helps!

Not only is the building gorgeous, great details and finished, the views are amazing! Devin and the lifestyle team host amazing events each month that really help foster community in a low stress environment, and it's been nice to meet my neighbors and start to build friendships. This week we did a Halloween themed waffle bar! And though I signed my lease when Teddi and Mia the managers were running most of the show before the building opened, Ted, Natalie, and Maddie on the leasing team have done an amazing job at getting to know me! Kesha is such a friendly face to see when I come home and it's so nice that the team is there when you need help! Even my dog loves living here! I wasn't really sure if the price was worth it, but I definitely think it is! The community is flourishing, the staff is helpful and the location is amazing. The best place in Seattle to see the space needle.

She is highly responsive, kind, incredibly competent, and has excellent communication skills. She is engaged and efficient. She is also flexible, reasonable, and sees the solution that would best serve all parties. We all love her. The property itself is new and modern and is perfectly located. There is a Safeway on the same block and E Madison is one block away as well as 23rd so it offers major bus lines in all directions. All good things!

Alright, after living here for around 4 months I feel like it's time to write a review. I'm not…read moregetting anything for this review. When I looked it up on Yelp for the first time I was a bit suspicious it had such high ratings but now I know they're justified. BACKGROUND - I am a Seattle transplant. Just graduated and just moved here fresh out of college. I wanted to live somewhere affordable, convenient, nice and still close enough to where all the fun stuff was. I looked at Cap Hill and the prices were outrageous. So the I landed on NAMU from an ad on Craigslist. LOCATION - around 5-10 minute drive from downtown Seattle and downtown Capitol Hill. Close enough for a short bus ride or a cheap Uber pool. If you check on the walk score it's around high 80s and the crime rate for the area is really low. Generally, it's closer to the suburbs. It's quiet at night because of that but occasionally there will be a siren once a week or people yelling once in a blue moon. But generally, really quiet. CONVENIENCE- I live right next to Safeway and can walk there in under 30 seconds which has saved my life many times. There's also a cute plant shop downstairs if you like plants and a Dominos pizza is opening soon, there's a Vietnamese sandwich place near the Safeway as well. The Safeway is open late which is great. There's also a YMCA a block away if you want to workout nearby! APT AMENITIES - in terms of amenities it is solid given how much rent you are paying. There's a bike rack, and a nice rooftop. None of my packages have EVER been stolen from the lobby and I've see packages left there for days so everyone in the building respects that. You can pay extra for storage and the laundry machines are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, which TAKE CARD. Generally they are full on the weekends but I haven't had an issue waiting long times for laundry. There's no pool, or lounge, trash chute or gym. The only things I wish the room had: an oven, a dishwasher (I just do my dishes by hand), and a closet. But I've adjusted. If you need these things to survive, consider that before you move in or if you have a ton of stuff / furniture / clothes because it likely won't fit. NOISE - Honestly, I'm assuming the insulation is top notch because I've heard my neighbors maybe once. ROOMS - The apartment was made in 2015 or something. I moved in 2017 and was the second tenant ever! The rooms are small, around 250-300sqft but I have enough room for a full-size bed, a queen size futon, a wardrobe hanger, and a small dining table and a bookshelf and no issues. It's a perfect studio for a single person and more than enough room to be comfy. Note there isn't a closet though so you'll have to make do with a buy your own closet thing. I really appreciate the mini fridge as it is honestly big enough for one person and since I live by Safeway I never really needed too much space anyway. The bathrooms are clean and modern and there's a big window too which is really nice in the mornings. LANDLADY / MAINTENANCE - This is what prompted me to write this review. The landlady, Sonya, has been nothing but incredible and responsive. She texts back almost immediately and even helped me once when I locked myself out of my room at midnight, and helped me get a package when I accidentally locked it. She's very thoughtful and kind and honestly I never knew how awesome thanks would be to have a great landlady until I met her! She also schedules maintenance once you report a problem to her. The maintenance guy, Mike, lives in the complex and shows up right on time to help fix your issues and is polite and nice. There was an incident where our hot water heater stopped working for around a day and Sonya immediately notified all the residents on the situation and provided suggestions for other solutions. And she even decorated the front door and lobby with a Christmas tree for the holidays!! Tldr - This is a great place to live if you're moving to Seattle as a single person. The rooms are "small" but modern, clean, and more than enough space for a studio. The facilities are brand new, and the landlady is awesome. The rent is affordable and I've I'm very happy living here and feel safe.

    Belltown

The absolute BEST apartments in Belltown!…read more This place is a hidden gem. Unlike nearby condos, it doesn't really do major advertising - I actually found it while clicking on random buildings on Google Maps! The location is incredible - close to the Space Needle and bars, but just far enough to still enjoy quiet nights. Plus, the prices are VERY competitive compared to other places nearby. Oliver from the front office is incredibly friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to be able to view the available units in person, and he sent me a very well taken, detailed video of the interior. He answered all my questions and really made sure that my moves, both in and out, were extremely smooth. Maintenance was also prompt and always made sure that everything was fixed within 1-2 business days! Now for the apartment itself - it was much larger than any other options nearby, and it was really nice! The unit looked a bit old but clean and functional in the video, but I was wrong... it wasn't old at all! The apartment was MUCH newer, brighter, and more updated than I anticipated - the best kind of surprise. I rarely ever heard my neighbors, always had power, and I especially loved that I had a massive pantry in the kitchen. My balcony faced 4th Ave, which leads directly to the Space Needle. Although I couldn't see the Needle from my windows, I never had to leave my apartment for any parades - they always started at the Seattle Center and went directly on the street below. The amenities it had were really nice - from the clubhouse to the gym. Both were clean, easy to access, and very updated. I especially loved that you didn't need to pay to book the clubhouse for personal events, as it made hosting larger groups for meals a lot easier! I was truly heartbroken to leave Sidney when work relocated me to Texas. It's a wonderful complex, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend!! If I ever move back, you know where I'll be living.

My apartment faced North and had a great view of the Space Needle. It was a quiet and quaint little studio that, upon move-in, was in great condition. I rarely ever had any maintenance issues, but if I did, they were addressed accordingly and in a timely manner. The Sidney is close to so many restaurants and shops and in fact, on the first floor, is Uptown Espresso. A cute little coffee shop that I would just walk down to every morning. Super convenient! The staff is what stands out about this building the most. The Property Manager is one of the best I've ever encountered. Always helpful and happy to assist. This type of management style has obviously transferred down from the manager, as the maintenance and leasing personnel are just as friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful living experience!
