I remember this place in my food-filled youth as being a restaurant where I felt I could get a heart attack for eating tons of meat and an endless number of the little buttered and grilled dinner rolls they serve. Much has not changed after all the years that I have not visited this place, neither have the dinner rolls nor the large amounts of meat that are brought to your table.
Despite the bad taste in music and dated features of this restaurant, it remains a solid option for eating Arrachera. The restaurant itself follows a Northern Mexican theme, which is definitely the intention with its meat-centric menu. We typically skip the pleasantries and go straight to the meat.
Food is served buffet style when ordering meat, because why order anything other than meat? They start you off with Caldo de Res or Caldo de Camaron, along with grilled dinner rolls and sliced jicama, carrot, and cucumbers with Tajin. They follow that up with frijoles charros, a large dinner salad, and rajas con queso. Then the meat arrives, a towering heap of sliced Arrachera served on a wooden board, with that inviting smell that one cannot deny loving. Flour and corn tortillas, along with a variety of salsas are available for your taco-making pleasure.
Glad to see the good things about this place have not changed. read more
