I usually write long reviews but today it's not necessary. Arous is hands down THE BEST hair stylist in RI. I've been to a lot, and she's the first person who's cut my hair, EVER, who gets it. And the cut grows in gracefully. She takes into consideration everything (that sadly, most others don't). Between the shape of your face, your body and the texture of your hair, she nails it 100 percent. I should add that her specialty is cutting your hair while dry which makes so much sense, since it allows one to see how the cut turns out when it IS dry. Wet hair is not accurate. It gets shorter when it dries. She was trained by The Master, celebrity hair stylist, the late John Sahag, and now she teaches the Sahag method as well. It is such a relief to leave a salon happy. She also has fabulous taste and her salon is gorgeous, whimsical, tasteful and immaculate. I am VERY happy. No more tears! read more

I have been working with Shameem for over 20 years and have followed her to wherever she goes. I am so happy with my haircut and highlights, traveling two hours to see her. It is so worth it! I may not get my hair done as often but I find with her new technique of dry cutting, I can go longer between haircuts and it still looks great. I was skeptical at first with dry cutting but now I will never go back- my hair is now so healthy, full and manageable. She spends quality time with you and going there feels like a spa experience. Best salon experience!! I've been getting my hair colored for a long time and could not find the right stylist/salon since moving to RI until now. I came in for a lash lift and ended up getting seriously special hair treatment! During my lash lift, I asked if they could fix my orange hair that another salon in Providence had done. I needed it fixed fast because I was leaving for France in two days. Melissa and Arous evaluated my hair, understanding exactly what I wanted and my urgency. They fit me into their schedule the very next morning on a Saturday. Arous gave me the BEST blond highlights and low lights, and Melissa gave me a fabulous dry cut. Both made my hair look a million times better. I can't thank them enough for helping me in a bind and for making my trip (and photos) that much better!! I was a long term client of Arous' (about 20 years), but in recent years the service started going downhill. On my last visit, person after person came in, got seated in Arous' chair and received their service immediately, as I sat & waited FOUR HOURS for my haircut, no exaggeration! Next, I called to say my brother had just died and asked if they could squeeze me in that WEEK, not even that day. Karin assured me they'd call me back in the morning with an appointment, but I never received a call. That's pretty low! The whole experience here was amazing! They have you change into a robe to save your clothes from getting hairs on your shirt. They offer you beverages with a full bar. My hair foil is the best color my hair has seen in years. Arous really knows what it is to be a true colorist. I've never had a dry cut before but the precision and perfection in the angles were beautiful. Davida was so gentle and a real artist at sculpting my hair to be just perfect. I couldn't look better. I loved my style. A friend recommend this studio. This is an experience. It is not unusual to be at the studio a couple of hours. So worth it! I had not been taking pride in my appearance in quite some time. Between losing thirty pounds and having a wonderful cut and style I actually take better care of my hair than I have in years. This has translated into taking better care of myself in so many aspects. I take care of a number of other people, I seldom begrudge it. I went here for a few years and it was just really unpleasant. Arous is talented with cutting hair but she can be a bit abusive to her clients but especially to her staff. Arous is a wonderful hair stylist and a wonderful person!! I have been to so many stylists since moving back from CA and have really struggled finding someone who understands wavy hair. Arous really understands hair. She listens to my concerns and gives an honest opinion. Her dry cutting technique scared me at first but she put me at ease. Dry cutting makes sense, especially for wavy hair. Before Arous, my hair was always being cut too short due to wet cutting. I was also afraid to spend so much on a hair cut because of my present financial situation but I don't need my hair cut as often. My hair grows out nicely and I receive compliments even when I feel I'm due for a cut. She also introduced me to DevaCare products which have really helped keep my hair soft and manageable.
