I signed a lease renewal in March 2025 with my rent being listed at $822 and not 90 days later received another notification that the rent will now be $947. Why sign a lease the contract states $822 for one year. I'm on social security and provided MGMT with a benefit determination letter from social security in March. My monthly income has NOT increased. I have reached out to Legal Aid and they are accepting my case. If these kind of tactics are legal then I'll go somewhere and sit down. The absolute worst experience with a property management company I've ever experienced. Service…read morerequests for serious repair needs are completely ignored unless you call or text them non-stop. Then they lie and blame the home owners for not approving the repairs. This happened to me and I spoke directly to the home owner who told me they were never even informed of a needed repair. Then, they attempt to withhold security deposits for repairs that haven't even been completed. I asked for the repair invoices and receipts and it's going on two weeks and I haven't received a response. Seems like the receipts should be easily assessable given that they have them listed in detail in the letter they sent me. They accuse all renters of smoking in the property in an attempt to charge $500 plus smoke remediation fees. They told me they found cigarette butts in the home and are trying to charge me for it when no one ever smoked in the home while I was a tenant. When I vacated the property, I videoed every inch of the property and as my video will prove, there were no cigarette butts anywhere in the home. They even said they have pictures of cigarette butts inside the home, yet haven't sent a time stamped copy to me. In addition, their claims of numerous repairs would certainly have resulted in many individuals being in the home since I left. How do know that one of them didn't smoke while there. I spoke with a gentleman 2 weeks ago who was there replacing windows and the front door was wide open and he was the only person there, hence no supervision when repair people are in the home. They currently have numerous lawsuits pending against them now and are about to have another one as I'm filing my complaint for unjust enrichment and breach of contract this week. Beware.

Granted, I've only rented two apts prior to this, but my current unit is easily better. Firstly, the building/unit is very well kept. It's spacious enough for 1-2 people but still cozy, the amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, parking) are great to have, maintenance is rarely needed but very quick, & the rent is very reasonable for what you get. There is a reason the building I'm in has been full for several years now. Additionally, the entire TEJ staff have been nothing but great. There is always a quick response to any inquiries, and everyone I've interacted with has been very kind. Unlike the big rental companies in the area I've actually met the landlord and owner, and it's nice to put a face to a name. I recently was up to renew my lease (with a small but realistically fair rent increase) and there was zero doubt in my mind about staying in my unit. I've been very happy with my experience over the last five years and highly recommend renting through them.
