After 4 years of engaging with great staff and customers at the place, an unfamiliar female staff member, presumably management, approached me with the following abrupt, unprecedented demand: "You've been here three or four hours. Don't do that." I had arrived at 11 am, and it was just before 1 pm when she approached me during my Zoom call. Two hours. Quite the rude surprise. The rest of the staff have been so kind and, for four years, have never complained about my patronage, even when I stay for a couple of hours chatting with locals or working on my computer. Let me offer the following admonition: If you're going to play Christian music, act like a Christian. If you're going to run a business, exhibit a modicum of consumer relations acumen. Don't spring arbitrary time limits out of the blue. Post a notice if you'd like, but rudely approaching customers you've never spoken to previously with unprecedented demands is not the way to elevate your reputation But perhaps this is just one mendacious bad apple, oblivious to the importance of civil discourse.
