The company valued a 20 year old boat as part of litigation proceedings…read more The company suspiciously valued the boat at just 30% of the fair market value which just happens to be the exact result the opposing party wanted all along. Dealers are selling similar models for up to $39900 but the company valued it at just $13500-$14500. Have looked up older models of the boat from the 80s and 90s and they too are higher value than the 2005 boat valued and it also has upgrades costing thousands. The valuation is extremely strange and it cannot be relied upon for mediation or court, so it's a complete waste of money. Have asked the company to provide reasons and comparables for such a massive difference in value. The company will not provide their evidence as to how they got to that price and only say some scratches and 1 damaged chair on the boat seems to be the cause. Have advised them that doesn't account for such a discrepancy in the valuation and asked them to provide proof. The company is now not replying. Unless the company shows their evidence of how they can value an asset at 30% of the retail value, I would avoid using this firm for litigation proceedings, as the valuation cannot stand up to scrutiny. The company just sends someone out to take photos and then an unknown person, without you knowing any of their qualifications just comes up with a number. No qualifications given. No reasoning or comparables are provided. I've never seen valuations performed in this manner and this is extremely unprofessional.
