So I took my Ram pickup in to get the air checked on the Michelins we bought there a few months ago. I shut the engine off so Dustin wouldn't have to deal with exhaust fumes from the truck. We exchanged pics of our dogs -- such a friendly guy -- but then when I went to restart the truck it wouldn't...because the keyfob (it has a keyless ignition) was with my wife who I'd dropped off to do some grocery shopping at the Kroger grocery a few hundred yards away. Incredibly, Dustin offered to go over to the store to get the keyfob from my wife on her way back from shopping (I'd called her panicking and she pulled herself out of the checkout line to begin walking back). Before I could call her to tell her she'd be approached by a Discount Tire employee, he'd already SPRINTED over there and had retrieved the keyfob to bail me out of my embarrassing situation. Thankfully, no one pulled up behind me wanting air because I was stuck. What fabulous customer service from this polite and friendly young man. I wanted to share this with you because he definitely went above and beyond what most people would do in that situation. One new store manager's attitude to undo it…read more Our work trucks have been serviced at the Lake Jackson Discount Tire for a decade, and we've consistently had excellent experiences- especially with the hardworking crew in the bays. We've regularly praised and promoted that crew on our social media because they earned it. (over 20 million YouTube views in a month, plus IG, Tiktok and Facebook) Unfortunately, today's experience with the new store manager, James, was a very different story. He refused to balance one of our truck's four tires, saying the tread was too low to service. All four tires were purchased at the same time, and when we inspected them, the tread on that tire appeared comparable to the other three. Based on that experience, it felt more like a push to sell new tires than the straightforward service we've trusted for years. He was clearly trying to get that bonus at the expense of not taking care of a good customer. I respect legitimate safety policies. My issue is how James handled the situation. His approach came across as unprofessional and lacked the courtesy we've consistently experienced at this location. A safety concern can be explained respectfully. Customer loyalty deserves that much. To the crew working hard in the bays: thank you. You're the reason we kept coming back. Until the management and customer-service experience improve, we'll be taking our trucks elsewhere. We came in for a tire balance. Turns out the customer service needed an alignment.

We had no clue what to do and it was Sunday so everything was closed...... except El Borrado. I called them in a panic and they actually offered to come pick up our family and the tire and bring back a replacement! They had no idea who we were but were going to go out of their way (during COVID) to help us. They ended up replacing our tire for a very reasonable price and allowed us to continue our trip. The first company we called said they would come about and patch, we called Macho and they were so pleasant and helpful. They answered a lot of concerns before coming out. I think his name is Doug? Top tier customer service after dealing with a not so great first trip out there. Clint and Son definitely made the long drive worthwhile. Will we be back after the inappropriate comments at the tail end of our visit? I am not sure, maybe. According to the quote provided, we have about $1k in maintenance that will need to be done plus my husband's vehicle.. Now I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble but some people really need to learn to read the room. Otherwise, great location. Friendly people!
