It was my first time coming to this dental office, which is located in a newer medical building attached to Sharp Hospital. Everything from social distance markings on the elevator floors to the receptionist wearing a mask, made me feel comfortable but I was still nervous as hell. Most people: "I don't like going to the dentist but Me: I have anxiety and a true fear of the dentist and needles, etc, that causes me to be nervous wreck the moment I even think about going, let alone actually sitting in the dentist chair. My ROOT CANAL experience. Dr. Sugita was AMAZING. I usually wear headphones with volume up so I can't hear anything. Dr. Sugita's calm voice and the methodical way he requested the next tool he needed was soothing and actually calmed me down. I'm not exaggerating this, but I DID NOT FEEL A THING! Not even the initial shot of novocaine, not the ones after. I usually feel everything and while the pain isn't much, it's the thought of the needle that gets me. The Doctor and his assistant were efficient and I was done in no time at all. In short, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. SUGITA

The location looks like an older apartment that were converted for commercial use, but I could be wrong. At any rate, having a root canal is no fun, but I am glad thus far that I had my first one ever here with Dr. Sashar. After filling out the necessary documents, I was asked to go in for x-rays, the consult, and then the root canal. I was pleased with the Dr. not only explained the process before hand, but also offered options. In the end, the root canal was completed on #15. I was given a good amount of pain killer before and even during the procedure when needed. Dr. Sashar did her best to make sure the procedure went well and painless. Don't get me wrong, it's an uncomfortable procedure, but was required, short of completely replacing the whole molar. Dr. Sashar, was very good at explaining what was happening as she performed the root canal. Everyone was very nice and supportive in the office. In addition to Dr. Sashar being super nice and patient, the receptionist and Dr. Sashar's assistants were all very friendly. I hope I never will need another root canal, but if I do, I know where to come.

From the time I checked in for my appointment to the time I left, it was only 1 hour and 15 minutes total. And that included filling out forms on a tablet, x-rays, exam and root canal. Dr. Sarshar is so nice, and great at what she does. I was feeling anxious about going but that was gone immediately. I felt so relaxed and it went smoothly. Not that I like having root canals done, but if needed in the future. I'll be going back to East County Endodontic. They had music playing in the room, Dr. and her assistant were just having a nice casual conversation during my procedure. It was awesome Highly recommend them

I walk in and the waiting area is small but beautifully done with free coffee cart area and very modern sleek leather couches, a huge bay window with hanging plants. The girl at the front did her due diligence with my 2 insurances to make sure i saved the most, then Dr David's assistant, Yesenia, calls me back and immediately was so sweet and concerned for my lips getting dried up during my procedure that she applied Vaseline to my lips for comfort! At that point i thought i was in Beverly Hills getting my root canal, but i was in good ol El Cajon!! Dr David comes in and shakes my hand and introduces himself. He explains what is going to happen and they both start to prep me. So once it was time for the needle i grabbed a hold of the arm of the dental chair expecting the normal pain that comes from the shot to numb my mouth. I am extremely familiar with this pain because i have had 8 root canals in my day. But he and yesenia wanted to orally numb first. One held my mouth open while the other held pressure to the gums with the long Q tip covered in the numbing agent. As time passed i realized they were timing it. Most dental offices put the Q tip in your mouth and then go from one room to the next seeing as many patients simultaneously but this guy was different and he was making sure i got everything i needed in order to experience the least amount of pain. Ok now the needle! He injected and kept asking "does that hurt"? I NEVER FELT A THING! The procedure lasted about 45 mins and throughout the process yesenia talked me through it explaining what was happening. Then at checkout instructions were giving with anti inflammatories and a steroid pak for the post-op pain. Today -2 days later, on a Saturday Dr David calls me to check on me! Wow i really got the full experience with this team. I highly recommend Dr David for all ur endodontist needs. FYI i am also in the medical field so i am always looking for the highest standard of care. And let's be real I'm somewhat of a nit picker! Nothing bad to say about this office!

The TV was on when I was brought in the room and I asked the technician watching it if he could change the channel away from Fear Factor, since I already have dental anxiety. He was real nice and changed it to a sports channel, which was fine. Then the dentist came in and did an exam and discussed treatments options with me. This is where things turned sour. I was comfortably laying in the dentist chair while the dentist Dr. Al Tekreeti was talking. The TV was still on and the dental chair forces you to look towards the TV. I'm not one who makes firm eye contact, I tend to look away periodically to break it up, and breaking up the eye contact meant moving my eye view to the TV. I did this several times while the dentist was speaking. He was annoyed by this and asked me in a chastising tone, the way a professor would speak to a student, if the TV was more interesting. I was shocked by this behavior and it took me a few seconds to respond. I informed him I have anxiety and eye contact is uncomfortable for long periods. He never seemed to recover from my perceived rudeness and I felt uncomfortable after that. I WILL NOT RETURN! I'm giving a 2 because the XRay tech was so kind. He earned 5 Stars but the Dentist earned zero and even deducted 3. Plus, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. I forgot to add that the dentist says I have a "new" cavity. I had them show me a picture of the cavity. It's actually a stain on an upper tooth that has been there for at least a decade. ITS NOT A CAVITY. I did second guess myself and got a 2nd opinion with my Veterans Affairs dentist. It's not a cavity.
