I was also excited when I walked in off grubby Portland St to find an elegant interior and smiling waiter. Bit disappointed then to find that the lunchbox is not some kind of Indian bento box featuring, I don't know, chutneys and the sound of a sitar playing or something. It's just the lunch buffet. But then again, that's not actually a bad thing in theory. In execution, none of it was particularly good and it was all strangely the same colour which was a bit off-putting. The poppadums were soft, which was just weird However, as it definitely didn't give me food poisoning I am likely to return given its proximity to my work and low price. For the money though, Kukoos is a much better choice in the area for Indian food at lunchtime. Dinner wise, I'd say Swadesh is probably pretty good.

Not too hard to do, since we stayed at a hotel just along the alley from Swadesh, but boy are we glad we decided on dinner here. The atmosphere was that of a pretty fancy restaurant where you'd think the staff and customers alike would be pretentious, but that wasn't the case at all. This place was really great, and the staff was great to boot. The prices were just perfect where we could all order various dishes and not feel as though we were going to break the bank by doing so. We started out with some poppadoms and chutneys as a started. Well pleased with that. After that, my boyfriend and I went with a vegetarian mix of goodies, including onion badjis and grilled halloumi. By the time we finished that, we knew we were in for a treat when the rest of our food came along. I stuck with ordering vegetarian dishes, which included saag paneer and an okra dish and my boyfriend ordered a chicken curry. We decided to share the lot and surprisingly, my boyfriend, who is a meat lover, really liked incorporating vegetarian in to the mix of dinner and plans to do it again when we go out. My bestfriend and his girlfriend ordered mixed vegetarian entrees and really enjoyed theirs as well. As we had been drinking a bit before we decided on dinner, we kept with water for the evening which the staff kept flowing without hesitation. All in all, it really was probably one of the better dinners I've had in a long time. I haven't had a good Indian meal in a few years, so I was really happy that we all enjoyed it so much. Should we find ourselves in Manchester again, this will be a must on the list of places to eat.

These guys had an excellent and a vast selection for any beer fan! All styles and with something tasty for everyone! The Indian street food was a very interesting twist to a regular food offering at breweries. When you first arrive, the waiter will sit you down on a table and then you order by scanning a QR code or going to the bar area. Didn't make a lunch reservation in advance but was still able to get a good table. - Bundo Chaat - Probably one of the best reinvented Indian dishes I've ever had and is a MUST at Bundobust. The crispy samosa pastry mixed in with the creamy yogurt and slightly hot chili sauce is maybe one of the best dishes I've ever had. Usually I'm not a huge fan of cold food, but this was actually so unbelievably good, like eating an unhealthy salad. The potatoes and chickpeas on top were also fantastic. - Chole Saag - Not as big of a fan but still great nonethless. It's kind of exactly what you would expect: chickpea and spinach curry paired with some kind of bread. I will say that for the price, it is incredibly nice and generous that they give you the puri on the side because usually at other Indian places in London, you do need to order it as an extra. Overall, absolutely fantastic place to eat while in Manchester. Do not sleep on the Bundo Chaat at all, probably one of the best Indian foods I've ever had. Also during the weekday they have a lunch deal where's its 2 for £9 which is honestly super nice of them to do and also very filling too.

However, this one is really flash, and pretty pricey as well. Basically they sit you in a waiting area while they prepare your table for you, which I've never experienced because pretty much all of the places I have been to already have the tables ready. Anyway, it wasn't too bad, but for some reason I prefer the ones in Australia.

It's interesting how you order at the lobby waiting area and move to your table only after you have placed your order. For starters, we got the lamb shish kebab which packed a ton of flavor. I wouldn't have expected that much flavor in the kebab just by looking at it. I wish it came with some sort of sauce so I wasn't eating just a plain kebab. For our mains, we got a chicken tikka masala and a lamb chili bhuna. It's cool how both of our entrees were placed on a box with a lit candle to keep our food warm. It's pretty elegant and nifty! I thought both dishes were tasty! The tikka masala was creamy and the chicken was tender. We ordered some garlic naan to wipe it clean! The lamb was excellent as well. Even though there are two chili signs on the menu, we asked them to tone it down to a mild spice level and it was perfect. The lamb was soft and the chili sauce was terrific. Overall, it was a unique dining experience and Rajdoot is definitely on the fancier end of the spectrum when it comes to Indian food.

It is the only Manchester takeaway that I would choose to visit in the daytime. It is always clean (although the member of staff eating a kebab whilst frying my chips was probably breaking some rules somewhere), the food is always piping hot, the veggie burgers are tasty and in this particular branch there are plenty of tables. I'm not quite sure chips and fizzy pop were quite the right choice for a pre-swim snack (my belly was not thanking me after a couple of lengths), but if you're looking for reasonable fast food in Manchester (perhaps as a post-swim or post-night-out snack) then you could do a lot worse than Abduls.
