Ishta is a high quality Indian restaurant situated on Old Market Place above the town centre in an area rife with great little eateries and pubs. It's a large restaurant but set in an old townhouse so is brimming with character. The decor is simple yet modern, a mix of dark woods, crisp white table cloths and deep red carpets.
The staff here are some of the friendliest I've ever met, and more than happy to help you in whatever way they can. The menu itself is much more experimental and diverse than your average Indian restaurant, with some very positive results. I can't remember the name of the dish I tried, but it the lamb just melted in my mouth, and the flavour was like nothing I've ever tasted, rich, sweet and nutty almost. Try the special 5 course meal on a Sunday for £9.95 if you want to experience this restaurant on a budget. read more
