I've had a number of keys cut at Mister Minit and they're always really quick, but my family had a…read morebad experience with them when trying to get my 21st key engraved. My mum managed to track down the wooden key I wanted (the local gift store ordered it in for her) and took it to Mister Minit to get it engraved. An hour later, we came back for it and they told us that they'd actually damaged the key because the machine they used for it wasn't working correctly. My mum was quite annoyed by this and they promised to replace the key. She came back the next day and the key was in perfect condition, engraving complete. When my mum asked for the original key back since she had paid for it and never got to see the damage, they refused. Apparently the manager had taken the original key home because it was now their property. We'll never know how they managed to track down an identical key that was sold out through most South/East Auckland stores or if they just fixed the key they had, but they basically stole our property if their story is the truth. I even tried to contact Mister Minit through their website to complain and never heard back. Next time you're in Manukau, make the trip to Smart Services and avoid Mister Minit. This franchise is just terrible and they may be good at their job, but they're certainly anything but honest.

Armstrong was engaged by AA to assist us when our only car key was stolen. We advised AA it was…read moreurgent because we were stranded with an 11 month old baby. AA advised Armstrong would be there in 15-60 minutes. They arrived after about 80 minutes. When the locksmith arrived, he got to work without delay, however he never really spoke to us. We waited near the car with our 11 month old baby for TWO HOURS while the locksmith continued trying to create a replacement key. At no stage did the locksmith bother to tell us it would take hours, or we would have found another way to get our daughter home right away. After more than 2 hours, we asked what was happening and the locksmith said it would be another half hour. At this stage, we got our daughter home in an Uber. After another hour the locksmith said he didn't know how to create a replacement key. We got another locksmith out the next day who explained it would take a few hours and that we didn't need to be there. They created the replacement key without any fuss. We have now had to phone and ask Armstrong for their invoice 3 times ($180 for the call-out!) so we can submit it with an insurance claim. They keep promising to send the invoice but have failed to do so.
