This business was horrible from the start. I had to call eight times before getting an answer. When Ricky finally picked up, he screamed into the microphone until I hung up the phone. I was able to contact him by mail after a few weeks, and I told him I needed my pool shed replaced. He quoted me $80,000 and said that was the price one pays for service of such high quality. I believed him, and prepared to have him come over the next Tuesday at 2:00 PM. He arrived at 1:30 AM. I knew this because I heard his truck crash into my garage at that time. He got out, shot my dog, neutered my son, and threw a dozen eggs at the pool shed. I didn't have any eggs in the house, so he must have brought his own. When I asked him what he was doing, he walked backwards and left in his truck, making eye contact with me the whole time. I've filed multiple lawsuits since, but he seems to be on the run, because the police can't find him. Needless to say, I won't be reaching out to Armet's Landscape again. read more

They did my back yard a few months ago. Rick Armet was a poor listener and poor communicator. Very condescending. He did not do and landscape drawings or plans, which I found odd but he came well recommended so I went with his firm. He did not supervise his crew at all. When they installed the wrong things and I wanted it corrected, he insisted I pay for the extra cost. Wanted to charge me an extra 3K! He insisted that some of the things I wanted could not be done the way I wanted and I had to spend extra to do it his way. His ATeam fencing also did fencing work and the workmanship was very shoddy. The fence was leaning the same day. When I asked him to fix it he sent the crew out to slap on a few extra boards which only made it heavier and lean over more. We hired Armet Landscaping to perform a makeover on a portion of our property. I was hoping for some nice spaced plants with a variety of textures, colors and heights, however, what I got was very lackluster, un-imaginative and poor quality plants. Since we paid him in the near $10,000 range, we expected something for that value, however, it was way, way, way below expectations. He was going to leave some rotted old boards because he didn't want to grade the area around the boards, but luckily I had email proof that removing the old boards was part of the deal. I really had to work to get even semi-close to the value we paid. We were new to the area and should have asked around before choosing Armet. I understand now that the name isn't all that respected in the landscaping community. Now, in the summer after the "re-model" some of the very weak plants have revived, but 1/2 are just sick little twigs. Definitely NOT worth the money we paid. read more

If I could leave 10 stars for, A Team Fencing/Armet's Landscaping, I would. We had 200ft of wood fencing damaged in storms. I called, and within 3 days the owner, Rick, came out to survey and had presented a written bid. Not only was pricing fair, but he was able to do the job around my very busy schedule. His fencing and painting crews were punctual, professional, polite, detail oriented, and completed the job exactly when Rick said they would. The fence is sturdy, level and straight. They hauled away the old fence, and didn't leave one scrap of wood or debris. I can't imagine a project going any smoother. We're happy, and will be calling Rick Armet for all our future landscaping and fencing needs. Highly recommended. read more

After doing some due diligence we found that this business owner can't even keep his dog confined within their yard. For our Fencing project, we utilized The Fence Factory, the price (almost half of Armet), service, and quality were awesome. Armet's Landscape did a wonderful job at my new place. I had a retaining wall that was falling over. They replaced it beautifully and also took care of a drainage problem that was happening with all the rain we had. They planted some vines and trees for me and built some raised beds. Rick was very accommodating working around my schedule, which wasn't always easy. Rick had an 8 man team working at my place for almost 3 weeks. I think what impressed me the most is that every person on that team took great care and felt responsible for making everything perfect. The retaining wall had several challenges such as going around a tree and they worked on it so it was perfect! I really appreciated that care and attention to detail. When installing my paver patio, Armet Landscape failed to put in the appropriate gravel base. Then, when doing a subsequent job, Armet drove his tractor over the paver patio, with the promise to fix any damage. When workers "fixed" the damage, they again did not add a gravel base or compact the existing soil. Years later the areas that were "fixed" have sunk more than four inches. When Armet came out to inspect the damage, he made up a false story that the 8 and 10 foot wide sunken areas were due to underlying rotted tree roots. To fix the damage to the patio has been estimated at $10,000. There are ethical landscapers in San Luis Obispo county. Armet is not one of them. read more

I gave them a five rating when the job was completed. The rock used was much smaller than expected but no bi deal. The job came with a 1 year guarantee on the plants. Some the plants died within a month. Have been waiting over 3 months for replacement plants with no luck. Have made several calls with a positive response each time from the owner that the plants would be replaced next time they had worked in my area. They did another little job for me about a month after this job which I thought was overpriced but I had it done with out an estimate so my bad. The owner was at property and noted the dead plants promised replacements but no action. read more

Work is not supervised by Armet so jobs are shoddy by workers and then Armet wants to get paid. Armet defends workers when job obviously has to be redone. What a complete waste of time. read more

Hugely disappointed in the outcome of a small project we hired Rick Armet to do for us in our backyard. What should've taken only days to complete, instead took many months, requiring us to hound him to get it finished. Our irrigation issue was also abandoned at one point, leaving our landscaping with no water. He cheaped out on the materials for the job, refused to take any responsibility for getting it all wrong, and instead tried to turn the table and lay the blame on us! He must be used to anger being directed at him because he didn't bat an eye when I voiced my extreme frustration to him. No such thing as an apology or offer to make things right. Now I get to look out at my back yard and be reminded every day of the mistake we made hiring this company. I highly recommend, if you are looking for quality, honesty, and a company that takes pride in doing a good job, DO NOT use Armet Landscape. read more

Hired Rick and his team to build a retaining wall, install DG between retaining wall and street, install paver walkways and install a lawn area and irrigation for the lawn. Rick was very nice and quickly understood what I wanted done. He quickly sent me a contract but I never saw him past the first day when he brought his crew over to do the work. Retaining wall good, lawn should have had Rodent wire, irrigation good. However the paver walkways were done so poorly I had to have redone. In addition they didn't pressure stamp the DG so it washed out in the rain down the street. I recently had that fixed by someone else. Also, Leftover gravel and sand from the job was left for me to clean up. When I asked Rick about why he never did a final walk through his answer was that I was not home. When I complained or brought certain things to his attention he always came back with unacceptable answers. Unbelievable answers!! In the long run it cost me more money to remedy their poor workmanship. If you want quality work and want a company that cares about the quality of their work and the satisfaction from their customers, then I would not recommend Armets. There are many more landscape, Hardscape and fencing companies in our area that are way better! I wish I would have looked at Yelp reviews before hiring Armets. read more

I had him come out a few years back, to remove and replace a fence. His estimate was the highest I received, by far. 1st impressions go far with me. With that being said, I would have preferred he had left his children with day care. Don't get me wrong, I do love children. I've 2. However, when coming to submit an estimate your little one's are not invited. I know that really sounds rude. But business is just that. To be asked of an estimate is literally applying for a position/job. It IS frowned upon to bring your rugrats with you to said interview. His attention was not on the job, obviously. I totally do understand that sometimes things happen. I feel that I should have had a call prior to his arrival to reschedule. I would absolutely have understood. Kids come before estimates! I'm a mom, I get it. What I don't understand is the young boys being brought to tailgate dad. Rick, came across as a 'good ole boy', respectful and mannered. However this left a bad taste in my mouth. If the boys had been a bit older, and remained in the truck while dad walked the property to take notes and measure.. that would have been fine. But, being they were small. 3 or 4 and 5, I do believe.. they required his full attention. And so did the time it would have took to give me a proper estimate. I haven't read of any further incidents of him bringing along his little one's in the comments below, so maybe it was a 1 time thing. But it did it for me. Well, that and the fact his estimates were more than double what I was quoted for the same type of fence he would have replaced. I've had in the past, encounters with yardners dragging their kids around while pulling weeds, cutting shrubs, and fixing irrigation. It's a great way to lose business, ya'll! Show some form of professionalism. For the land owner, I'd advise against it. IF that child, falls or trips over even their own feet ON YOUR property...guess who's liable... Yeah YOU! In the contractors liability.. it covers HIM & HIS CREW.. NOT HIS CHILDREN! So unless you as a home/land owner want to get sued, people stop letting these 'service providers' bring their relatives to either apply or perform a job. I didn't have Rick come back. These guys suck!! I went on their website to set an appt for an estimate. It says you can do phone estimates, FaceTime, or zoom. So I asked for a FaceTime estimate. I then called and asked if they could do it right then since I was on my lunch break. The guy that that answered sounded like he didn't want to talk and was too busy and was talking to someone else next to him , and when I asked about the FaceTime quote he said yea we don't do that. I said oh I requested it from your website and he said nope you probably did it from yelp or something because I've never heard of FaceTime quotes. Ok.... Check your website dumb dumb. Then I said we need monthly landscaping and he said yea we don't do that. (What?) ok.... I then said well we also want to buy quite a few trees . He said yea we don't sell trees . (Wtf????) I was thinking is this a joke????? Am I being punked? I said oh it says on your website that you sell trees. He said Yea we don't sell trees we just install them. Um, well ok I don't mean that I want to install them I want you to do that. (More side chatter conversation between him and someone else next to him) he then says ok we'll do you want me to come out and give you an estimate? For what weirdo???? Call Rick Armet and schedule a bid for your landscaping project--you will not be sorry!! Rick is professional, experienced, friendly, polite, and knows his stuff like nobody else out there. We spent weeks calling almost every landscaping firm in San Luis Obispo county just trying to get an estimate scheduled for our front, back, and side yards. Let me save you a ton of time (and, ultimately, money) through my experience with trying to find the best possible landscaping contractor for our medium-sized job in Paso Robles. Contractor number one (I won't name names because it's a small town) showed up on time, was super nice and knowledgeable, but never gave an actual bid after about ten promises that he was still working on it. Contractor number two was hours late for the initial appointment for an estimate, seemed to be exhausted and burned out, and gave a rough verbal estimate on the spot, without taking notes or measurements; hhhmmm, definitely a no. Landscaper number three had years of experience, came across as friendly and professional, and followed up in a timely manner with what seemed like a reasonable bid for the amount of work involved--we went with him, he took a large deposit (because we normally live out of town), worked for two days, then bailed. We are still in court trying to get our deposit back--if I am ever at liberty to publicly warn others about this unscrupulous person, I will, but cannot do so at this time due to pending litigation. Thanks to Yelp, we found Armet's Landscaping, and Rick answered our voicemail the same day. He was early for our initial appointment for the estimate, understood what our end goals were for the overall layout and look for our project, and gave great ideas on what could and could not be done within our budget. He has years of established connections with all the best local landscape suppliers to get the best pricing possible, so his bid was very realistic and competitively priced for the amount of work we needed done. We were easily able to handle everything for our Paso Robles property by phone and email from out of town, with Rick checking in with us regularly to give us updates or ask us about specific details. Each trip to the property left us amazed with how well the progress was moving along. On one of our visits, we got to meet Rick's longtime hands-on crew leader and we honestly could not have been happier or more impressed with how seriously he took his job--plus it was clear that his crew of six (all very hard workers) respected him as well. All of the guys were nice, clean, respectful, incredibly hard working, and always left the job site clean at the end of each day, which our neighbors informed us about since we weren't there--how great is that?!! All in all, if you have drainage, landscaping, fencing, driveway, walkway, retaining wall, and irrigation needs, we wholeheartedly recommend getting in touch with Armet's Landscaping. Rick has large, hard-working crews, great on-site managers, tons of equipment, decades of experience ranging from small to large jobs, plus he listens to his customers and he stands by his word. Who could possibly ask for a better professional landscaping firm?! Also, our neighbors were all impressed with what a great job his team did in such a short amount of time for the amount of work involved. We know of two other families in our neighborhood that have since decided to go with Armet's Landscaping as well, and they are equally happy. Fantastic service and excellent results! We wanted our lawn in the front and back of our house removed and replaced with some artificial turf, drought and deer resistant plants. I had spoken to three different contractors about who to use, as a lot of landscaping companies don't install (plant?) artificial turf and three contractor's said to call Brian Armet. Brian Armet was working with us from start to finish. Everything was done professionally and with care. All the lawn was torn out and replaced with some artificial turf (which looks awesome!), gravel and landscaped with drought tolerant and (somewhat) deer proof plants. We hired Armet Landscaping to complete a fence. Two 8 ft. long panels collapsed and 2 panels on each side of the failure were unstable. When it started to fail, it was about 3 1/2 years old. We tried for 5 weeks to get Rick Armet to come out and look at the fence to determine the reason for the failure. In those 5 weeks, all we got was broken promises and excuses as to why he did not get back to us. When he finally responded, he wanted to charge us $2,200 to fix the failure. We fixed the fence ourselves with help from some relatives. It cost about $250 in materials and took about a day. And this time, we encased the poles in cement up to the ground. I would strongly recommend against doing business with this company based on the behavior of one of their drivers. On 4/19/2021 an Armets truck towing a trailer pulled into the parking lot at Miners Ace Hardware store in Atascadero. It was parked in the lane where you drive, not in any parking space. This long rig blocked at least four vehicles from being able to leave for 15 minutes. One of those trapped called Armet's and complained. Several times we asked Miners personnel for help or to call a tow truck. Even after Miners personnel told us "he would be right out", it was a 5 minute wait. When he did come out, he didn't seem to care and had purchased some sort of piece of wire and an ice cream. He was wearing an "A-Team Fencing" shirt and that was another name on the side of the truck, but the main name on the door was Armet's. It is not only an incredibly rude practice to block cars like that, but it can be dangerous because one of them might be somebody on call (such as an EMT) and might have a need to suddenly leave. I consider that this behavior can only be considered as representative of the company. And I expect better manners from anyone who I might do business with. read more

Lousy cleanup after job is done. My neighbor had landscaping done by Armet's - hard workers, fast job. Landscaping looks ... okay. But they not only parked their vehicles in front of MY sidewalk/front door, that's also where they left the remnants of their job. Just spent an hour spraying a ton of mud down the gutter in my neighborhood; I hope it looks okay in the morning, but it HAS to look better than it did when I started. I should bill them for the use of my water. It ain't cheap, boys. Will definitely find someone who cleans up after themselves when I get my own landscaping done. I have know Rick Armet since he was a student in high school. He was my gardener at that time. Over the years, I have owned and landscaped several properties. My experiences with him have always been good until now. I recently bought a new home in Paso Robles and called Rick again. Bottom line: amateurish! A do it yourself gardener would have done a better job. The pavers were uneven and covered with sand that constantly "oozed" for weeks. After weeks of complaining, I finally hired someone else to fix them. When they came to install the patio cover, the concrete pad for the post to attach to was not there. For weeks the patio cover had to be held up with braces. Finally, the lawn: abysmal!!!!! The worst job ever! 2 different sods were used, it was (and still is) very uneven. The ground beneath is hard (little soil amendments used). Here's the kicker: he charged me full price, no discount for the foul ups. If you want a top quality job, find someone else. If you want your dirt covered up fast, then this is your guy. He comes in with a big crew, they work fast and don't do a very good job. Rick will come by once during the process (to get his check). He used to have a foreman, but not this time. Very poor job. read more

We moved to a new home which had been unoccupied for some time and the ground cover had gone to pot. We called Armet's landscaping and Rick came and began to transform our house from eyesore to a beauty. He showed his experience and his eye for design and came up for a plan which included pouring concrete and extending a small patio which existed, erecting a beautiful block wall and landscaping. All of this was done was done skillfully and beautifully. Brian and Rick's crew was neat, polite and efficient, showing skill in what they did. I contacted Armet for some simple planting of several trees because they were a local company and I felt I would get the best service but I was wrong. I relied on them to help me pick out the correct tress for the area in the front of my home. I wanted a barrier of medium sized trees to block the road and give us some privacy and to help the street noise. The trees they planted will grow very tall and will do little to give me the effect that I requested. Also, some of the trees will hit the overhead electrical wires when they reach maturity which could be a major maintenance problem. Mr. Armet made no effort to correct the situation and he offered NO customer service. I had to have the work redone by another company and my costs have more than doubled. I wrote to Mr. Armet about my dis-satisfaction but he offered no solution. His rudeness and arrogance made be feel very under valued. I do NOT recommend their service. read more

I will never hire Armet's again. A job that I was told would take one week to 10 days is now on week 3 and I have been without my drip system the entire time. The "crew" is supposed to work 4 ten hour days a week. Between all the long breaks and the 2 hour lunches, you're lucky to get 4 six hour days a week. The crew gets practically no supervision and sits in the shade drinking beer in the afternoon. It cost me an extra $800.00 to pay for a calculation mistake made by the person who measured. They didn't tell us that the steps they put in our retaining wall were going to be just barely up to code and look weird. When I asked if they could make them a little deeper, before they were even half way finished, I was told it would cost me another $800.00. Is $800.00 their magic number? Huge mistake hiring them. Now I'm finding out there are many people who have had similar experiences to mine but they don't put it on yelp. read more

I have lived with the outdoor experience Armets Landscape was hired to construct. Their ability to put flagstone patio together is very good,but have to agree with the first review. Little attention to detail. There are "crews" that come to do the work after you have met with Rick. They are fast workers. They laid sod over malba weed, they also used hard pvc opposed to flexible pvc for risers. Many of sprinklers that were moved have been broken due to bumping of lawn mower during mowing. This should not be an issue- I asked them to use the flex risers and had them sitting on the outdoor table for them to access. We also had a lighting system and gates put in. So disappointed. Lights were set in weird locations and burnt out. The Gates sagged within the first two weeks. I called and they came back to fix them. The Gates sagged again two weeks later. Rather than calling Armets again, I fixed the gates and the sprinklers myself, I gave up on lighting for the time being. They are probably great for a weekend party landscape. Long term results have been very disappointing. read more
