Appreciate the lockers for my personal belongings at the presentation area. The rest of the steps and assembly lines were just the way I remembered it. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our 9am shift and there were several groups there as well. We were brought into the large room where the market is located (more in a moment on this) and found lockers to lock our things up (you can't wear hoop earrings, rings, necklaces, etc.). They give you small plastic baggies to put your stuff in; you are also required to wear a hair net and men with facial hair was also required to wear a beard net. We watched a couple of videos that explained what we would be packing and where it was shipped to as well as specifics for the actual packing station. It is so rewarding to know that these Mano Packs are shipped to countries where children suffer greatly from malnutrition. At the end they actually give you a sample of what we packed. It was like a savory oatmeal and included rice, protein, a mixture of dehydrated veggies and a scoop of powdered vitamins and nutrients. It was good actually. We were at a packing station with some others including children and once everyone decided on which job we wanted to do, after a few minutes and bags, we found our packing rhythm. They have a very precise method to the packing of these meal bags and with music, cheering, etc...the two hours flew by! If you are looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, check them out. We are going back for a second time and I think we'll make this one of our regular volunteer opportunities. Staff working is great and helpful and so passionate about the work they are doing! The marketplace includes crafts made by the people of the different villages around the world. We learned that not only are the families given food packets but they are also signed up for resources and employment opportunities and everything else in an effort to make their lives better. They do tours and you can also rent the spaces for events. I looked and they have really interesting volunteer opportunities with very reasonable time commitments.

The five dollar bags are a steal, and I found so many items I have been looking for. Lastly, I was able to donate all of my tissue boxes, egg cartons,oatmeal containers and paper towel tubing for teachers to use.

It is convenient to drive up and drop off on Tuesdays or Thursdays 9-2 pm. They take donated used computers - working or not, repair them and give the items to schools and nonprofits. AZ StRUT works with students in school programs to fix and refurbish old devices. So far, they've provided over 150,000 devices! Today, AZ StRUT also offers "Techie Experiences," where people can learn by working with devices and sometimes keep them. For sale inside are computers and components-open to the public. They are located in the same building as Treasures for Teachers which is a great place to donate extra or unwanted school supplies, small housewares and books. We were able to drop off everything in our vehicle and get donation tax receipts. Easy peasy!

I tend to have a lot of electrical and computer items. This location in Tempe is a little bit more convenient, but I love the intent and idea of the volunteer community and the fact that things could be repurposed. If you have items to drop off, you just pull up, and they will help you unload from your vehicle. They do the rest & sort things out to then determine what they can repurpose and apply. Thankful to have a place like this that really gives back to the community, and glad that I'm able to support not only physically (Volunteering) but also with my donations.

I had my own group of kids that we practiced budgeting money based off the scenario they were given . It was hilarious when some of the kids were yelling" I'm broke" . We had to redo their budgets and they realized what's more important between "wants and needs". This is one of the best ideas to teach children real life scenarios and how things can work when you don't plan or set yourself up for success. The staff were really hands on and walked us through the what, who, how, and when of the simulations. They were all so kind and welcoming and I look forward to volunteering with Junior Achievement again in the future !

From Science experiment stuff to school supplies and more, I always tend to pick up more than I need. Especially notebooks. This is a great place to bring those items and make them available to teachers who can bring that same vibe to there students. I drop off 3-4 times a year and not to long along I was helping a friend clear out a garage and yes, they had a ton of stuff that was perfect for teachers to add to there classroom. It is safe and secure with security guard and strict clearance for visitors. My friend has been staying there for three months since having the worst summer ever. Now she has opportunity to be surrounded by a caring, professional community conducive to her recovery and stabilization. She has a healthy daily routine that includes medication management, Bible study, counseling, meals, and on campus work. I highly recommend Phoenix Rescue Mission Changing Lives Center for women.

Their mission is to alleviate hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and provide disaster relief. It is a great place for groups, families and individuals to come and volunteer at. Sign up is easy and they have daily shifts available to help pack and organize food boxes in their warehouse. They make it simple to find a shift that works best for your schedule. When you arrive and check in, Midwest Food Bank shows a video about the organization and explains how food will be packaged. Volunteers are then assigned to different stations. Because you are working with food, hand washing is required and so is wearing a hair net (they provide them). The staff here at Midwest Food Bank is great and they making volunteering fun. It is a great place to bring your kids too! Midwest Food Bank currently distributes nearly $40 million worth of food to over 2,200 non-profit organizations each month.
