We found a little pigeon walking through the parking lot. He was maybe 4 weeks old. Still had baby…read morefuzz. I held him and he was very healthy but I had no idea how to take care of him. I googled Bird Sanctuary near me and Liberty Wildlife Rehab popped up. Luckily they were open until 6, so we were able to make it over there. We took our little baby birdie to the rescue window. The kindest lady came and placed him in a little box and then took him back to a baby bird nursery room. She came back and she was just so sweet and I knew the little bird would be just fine with these people. In the area behind here she had huge rescued birds behind her. 3 were vultures. And 3 other huge birds were there too just hanging out on there perches. No cages just chilling. And then a goat came up outside the window, to peek in and say hello. Just a wonderful place, where I am going to be donating to monthly so they can keep up their good work and continue to keep there Rescue Intake Window open!! On the teacher side, it's all there for the shop . I wish I had known it years ago. So many items that you can find, but it does take time if you want a certain item to sort. The five dollar bags are a steal, and I found so many items I have been looking for. Lastly, I was able to donate all of my tissue boxes, egg cartons,oatmeal containers and paper towel tubing for teachers to use.

It is convenient to drive up and drop off on Tuesdays or Thursdays 9-2 pm. They take donated used computers - working or not, repair them and give the items to schools and nonprofits. AZ StRUT works with students in school programs to fix and refurbish old devices. So far, they've provided over 150,000 devices! Today, AZ StRUT also offers "Techie Experiences," where people can learn by working with devices and sometimes keep them. For sale inside are computers and components-open to the public. They are located in the same building as Treasures for Teachers which is a great place to donate extra or unwanted school supplies, small housewares and books. We were able to drop off everything in our vehicle and get donation tax receipts. Easy peasy!

I tend to have a lot of electrical and computer items. This location in Tempe is a little bit more convenient, but I love the intent and idea of the volunteer community and the fact that things could be repurposed. If you have items to drop off, you just pull up, and they will help you unload from your vehicle. They do the rest & sort things out to then determine what they can repurpose and apply. Thankful to have a place like this that really gives back to the community, and glad that I'm able to support not only physically (Volunteering) but also with my donations.

I had my own group of kids that we practiced budgeting money based off the scenario they were given . It was hilarious when some of the kids were yelling" I'm broke" . We had to redo their budgets and they realized what's more important between "wants and needs". This is one of the best ideas to teach children real life scenarios and how things can work when you don't plan or set yourself up for success. The staff were really hands on and walked us through the what, who, how, and when of the simulations. They were all so kind and welcoming and I look forward to volunteering with Junior Achievement again in the future !

School supplies and items for teachers are common as I'm always working on some projects with my own kids and others. From Science experiment stuff to school supplies and more, I always tend to pick up more than I need. Especially notebooks. This is a great place to bring those items and make them available to teachers who can bring that same vibe to there students. I drop off 3-4 times a year and not to long along I was helping a friend clear out a garage and yes, they had a ton of stuff that was perfect for teachers to add to there classroom. Schedule is posted for dropoff and the staff is always friendly to assist.

This ministry is a wonderful refuge for women who are seeking shelter and a long term place to get…read moreback on their feet. It is safe and secure with security guard and strict clearance for visitors. My friend has been staying there for three months since having the worst summer ever. Now she has opportunity to be surrounded by a caring, professional community conducive to her recovery and stabilization. She has a healthy daily routine that includes medication management, Bible study, counseling, meals, and on campus work. I highly recommend Phoenix Rescue Mission Changing Lives Center for women.
