Pizza was good, and food came out pretty quickly. Pleased with the menu selections and the funny waitress. But service was really slow. I get that having one waitress for 7 tables is a lot. But they should have more than one waitress helping out people over the weekend. Had to ask few times for glasses of water and plates. They cleared our tables after the appetizers which included the dirty plates. But then didn't give us new ones after we got the pizza. While I have been here before for dinner a couple of times, this review is based on the Sunday brunch. The website suggests making reservations, which I'm glad we did, since this place was super busy. Before I go on about how good the food was, I just wanna say that the service was great. The waitress had an awesome attitude and was constantly at our table collecting plates and refilling beverages. We were a group of 8 and everyone loved it. There was an amazing selection of items on the buffet. There was your typical breakfast items...bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes. There was also waffles that they make to order. Other items included, breaded shrimp, rice balls, potatoes, deep fried pickles, pasta with tomato sauce or Alfredo, chicken limone, fish, beef carving station, salad, grilled antipasto vegetables, shrimp, cheese tray, mini ciabatta sandwiches. As for dessert, an assortment of cake, pies and pastries, as well as fresh fruit. For $20 it's well worth it. I took some pictures of what we ate, but I don't think they did the buffet justice. The best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever had. Smooth, creamy with chunks of artichoke throughout. The margherita was really good, it's not as thick with the buffalo cheese as it is on other pizzas, but it's still great. Key Lime Pie was fantastic. Perhaps the best I've ever had. Could taste the fresh lime throughout and the crust was fabulous. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. I will be back. read more

The were giggling with each other and having side conversations when they were supposed to be getting my order ready. Although the food was prepared well, a large part of my business dining in at this franchise was the ability to order large "Windsor Style" pizzas that you can now only order from the take-out restaurant next door. Restaurants with "rules" always lose my vote. Especially when a lot of people come to Windsor specifically for the pizza. They've since rebranded the dine-in restaurant as a traditional Italian style trattoria. There you can order a lot of the same types of pizzas for twice the price of that of what you can get next door. What a ridiculous money grab. We had reservations at 5:30 yesterday for 10 people. A few got there closer to 6 so we did not order our food right away. Never once did anyone come around to see if we wanted another drink or even water and at 7:35 were told we had to leave because the tables were needed for another reservation and they were waiting. We should have been told when we made our reservation that there was one already at 7:30....we would have booked somewhere else more accommodating....Will NEVER be back there..... read more

Armando's is still seving up good food. It's a family favorite, we go often. My dad loves the calzones, mom loves spaghetti and meatballs, and my husband has enjoyed everything he has tried. We always leave full, and well served after enjoyign a good meal. They do offer gluten free options here now, which is a treat for me! However, it always annoys me when you see a $14-$19 pasta and then a disclaimer for an additional $2-$4 charge for gluten free. Yes, it's a specialty item and I get it... but how much of a mark up does one need on Pasta? And PS world, gluten free people are ALWAYS taking the hit on expensive cuisine. Can't a restaurant just offer gluten free, and know that the party will likely return again and again and again and then tell all of their gluten free friends to go with their family and friends??? (In turn adding to the number of gluten free customers, but they each bring along 10 friends who aren't gluten free and have healthy appetites and a taste for wine....) So in protest.. I don't try gluten free options... sure it's only $2-$4 but... that adds up.. and the salads, chicken meals and other secretly g-free goodies will continue to work for me. read more

This has been my go to pizza place in Windsor my entire life and having since moved no other place has ever came close. Every time I come to the restaurant though I always regret not ordering a personal pizza. Their pasta dishes are good too but nothing compares to the pizza. We ordered about 8 dishes so I think that we got a sense of the quality of the food. I would place this restaurant at the higher end of middle-of-the-road dining. The pizza was cold when I got it home even though I was there 2 minutes before it was supposed to be ready. It looked ok when I opened it but it was barely warm and tasted burnt. The bottom only showed a little bit of charring but it tasted quite burnt. Maybe it was in the oven with another pizza that got burnt? The crust was quite crispy too. We were at this location last night and I definitely was not impressed. My husband & I decided to go for a 'nicer' meal and we were so disappointed. We will now stick to our regular, 'lower-end' restaurants, because they provide better service and quality of food. Our waitress was void of any personality. She said just what was necessary to do her job and that's it. The food was definitely most disappointing. My husband ordered Linguine Primavera and while the bowl was full of noodles, the vegetables were quite hard to find. I can make him a bowl of noodles at home. My Chicken parmesan & penne were literally the worst I've tasted. Noodles were mushy and the sauce was very watery. The chicken was hard to cut because it was gristly throughout. The bread was delicious & the salads as well. I would not recommend this restaurant nor will I return. read more

I AM APPALLED AND STUNNED! I have eaten at Armando's several times for lunch over the course of the last year, and my service with this one waitress is mediocre at best. She is always distracted or forgetful. But, there is one male waiter that works on the patio side during lunch, and he is super friendly and awesome. However, our service today was HORRIBLE and they charged $4.00 for Gluten free pizza and we were NOT TOLD OF THE UPCHARGE nor was it outlined ANYWHERE ON THE MENU!! When the waitress that ended up taking our table over ( bc of shirt change-- right when we were done eating by the way) told the manager he could of gave a &^%!. He was rude and unaccommodating! He said " we don't have to tell you,you should of known gluten free was more and we pay more for it!". Food was good, our problem was with how we were treated after our meal. We had a party of eight adults. We all ordered dessert and coffee but were not left to enjoy it in peace. Four different people started to clear everything off of the tables. No one was asked if we needed anything else, the dessert plates were whisked away when the last crumbs were eaten and money collected quickly. If you are a Celiac do NOT eat here. They provide regular bread with Gluten free food. The Manager was extremely rude and would not deal with the issue. Requested a refund and have yet to hear back. I have organized several company lunches here and cannot say that the food has been disappointing. However, the last time I was there, I was quite irritated that they added an automatic 18% tip because I had a large group (cannot remember if the threshold was 8 or 10 guests). I had 12 guests. I asked about this and was told that this was the policy and basically that was that. Needless to say, they are not getting my business any more. As a matter of principle, I don't like being told how much I should tip after the fact. read more

Armando's is a classic take out pizza spot in Windsor. I always order from them if I'm having a party or just craving pizza. I then thought since the pizza is good at take out, than it should be as good. It was not. The pizza I ordered (Pizza Margarita) was bad. The crust was burnt and very hard to eat, and I was forced to leave the crusts on the side. The toppings however were good. Slices of tomato and cheese with a nice sauce. The presentation was good too, however I had one encounter that will justify this strongly. As I was eating the pizza I felt a little hard speck. It ended up being a piece of glass! I was completely appalled and called over one of the waiters. That could have hurt someone. After the ordeal the server was very nice and took care of it. Furthermore the appearance of the restaurant was very nice and modern, if I there was no hard pizza and a piece of glass on my pizza I would have recommend it. read more
