I don't understand why We see 3 1/2 stars, from 37 reviews for this site, when every time being in store [half a dozen time now], is a 5 star experience for me. This store is a Resource and a storehouse of information, and has its long history of a 0ne-on-one service to anyone from beginner to accomplished. They will help you get started (if you inquire) and are dedicated to everything photographic as well as their main provision of having a fine and deep collections of cameras. Each of the considerably accomplished staff will provide what you want and then some. The store is a virtual treasure of what photographer want, and they stock it with usually a choice of competitive pricing for popular items. And to finish: There are multi levels of operation at Arlington Camera including photo printing -all sizes; classes on all cameras [free if you have purchased one there]; Field trips from time to time; and, once again the prices are consistnly even with the competion -or better and they have the experience if you can allow them to share it read more

I've purchased two cameras here in the past so when my business needed a video camera for a project I decided to be loyal to the local business and purchase here. I knew that I could get a better price online, but I wanted to get some professional advice without doing all the online research on my own. So I purchased a camera but then decided to go another route with the project and tried to return the camera, with receipt, within 30 days of purchase. Nope! Store credit only. My fault, I did not know this was the policy. So beware all you potential customers. You can not return merchandise. I just feel that this is a bad policy. I would have happily paid a restocking fee but to not allow any returns seems pretty extreme. Also, I might point out, once I got the video camera home it was clear that it was a return and I was not told this when I purchased. In the future I will go directly to the internet. If the local business is not providing any additional value to me as a customer I will choose saving money. read more

Ridiculously low prices offered on low gear, but VERY knowledgeable and friendly staff. If this review was based only on customer service it would be a 5+ If you need advice and a fair price on gear, go here. But if you've got gear to sell to them, don't even bother. I Brought them two lenses and a body, the new retail value of the lot was approx $1700. Used retail/eBay at least $1450. KEH.com offered me $1100 for the lot, B+H offered me $950...Arlington Camera offered me $400. A complete joke. read more

Great! I bought a $30 camera strap. Three different employees asked to help me. And no upsell involved when I compared the $30 strap to the $70 strap. I'm returning soon to purchase a $800 lens. Same price at the online mega shops, but I'll get the personal attention at this local gem. read more

I was needing to buy some clamps and ask for opinion on rigging options to build a 'top down' camera rig for a project I'm working on. As other Yelp reviewers you'll find listed here experienced I was treated with indifference and ignored the entire time I was standing there in the store WHILE holding products to purchase. One staffer (in a tie-dyed shirt) asked me to move out of his way so he could continue doing whatever it was besides asking me if I needed any assistance. I shouldn't have to ask you to take my money. I made that effort when I got into my car, drove past traffic and construction and walked into your store. That was my effort to say "Hello, I'm here to spend money, would you like it?" So after about 10 minutes of watching staff stand around and shuffle boxes I put my intended purchases back on the shelf and left. I'll never return here. I am clearly not the clientele they're targeting and that's fine that is their business and they've been around a long time. I am giving 2 stars since the pricing was comparable to Amazon so that may be of value to others. read more

What a great find. Was visiting Fort Worth when the Olympus Pen launched this summer. No one had it in stock, but Arlington Camera. Melanie was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. She even ordered the flash unit (that hadn't shipped yet) and sent it to me up in the Chicago area. Honestly a lot of camera shops can have some pretty unapproachable people working in them. But Arlington Camera was a real breath of fresh air. read more

The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and it's my go to place for special prints. Their in house photo lab prints high quality prints in all sizes. You upload at home, then go pick them up. I'm torn about this place. I'm had decent experiences. And not so good ones. First with the good. On more than one occasion when I've gone in...sometimes just to browse, I've been greeted and encountered friendly employees/associates. They've helped out when I needed and gave me advice once when I was looking for a new bag, and they actually recommended one I was unaware of and hadn't seen before. It ended up working better for me and my gear and couldn't have been happier. For the not so good. Just as I have experienced friendly and helpful associates, there also seems to be some who are, as others have mentioned, arrogant and snobbish. On a recent phone call I made to the location about an inquiry, the gentleman on the phone seemed to be very short with me and almost annoyed that he had to answer the phone. I've experienced the same in store a couple times as well. Also, I was almost kind of shocked at how much I was lowballed once for a lens I was considering selling to them (price dependent, of course). It was in perfect condition with all the original packaging, lens caps, lens carrying bag, paperwork....everything. They offered me less than 1/3 of what I paid for the lens when I bought it brand new. I expected the offer to be relatively low, and less than what I could get selling it on my own. They are a business and I understand they have to make money off of it...but that was just a punch to the gut for the condition it was in. Even KEH and Adorama quoted a higher price than them. I ended up selling it on Craigslist for more than twice the amount they (Arlington Camera) offered. As far as there pricing goes, from what I've noticed, they're pretty average when compared to other true photography retail stores like it. They aren't the worst (in terms of price), nor the best. I love to support local businesses and don't mind paying a little extra to have a good relationship with one, but with the combination of experiences I've had with this store, I'll most likely go back and stick with internet purchases for my photography equipment from now on. I've tried to give them the opportunity...and have tried hard to "like" this place. But alas, I've been let down one too many times. read more

Arlington Camera recently had the Canon G1 X Mark II camera on their website for $599.00. I called yesterday to confirm that they had it in stock, and the salesman said they did indeed. I drove to their store today to purchase the camera and waited for 30 minutes while staff and management pretended I was invisible (with only one other customer in the store). When I finally got someone's attention, I was told that the camera was not in stock. He then tried to sell me one of several more expensive cameras. I asked if they could order the camera I wanted, and was told that they could, but for a higher price of $649.00. I pulled up their website on my phone and showed them their advertised price of $599.00. After another 30 minutes of the salesman and me being smugly ignored by at least three managers (who had caught wind of me asking for the advertised price), one manager summoned the salesman into a back office. After a lengthy wait, the salesman returned and informed me that the advertised price was "a mistake". Not only did I waste an hour of my time on their bait-and-switch tactic, the staff was arrogant, aloof, and rude. Before visiting Arlington Camera, please bear in mind that you are the customer and they are the merchant, because they have those roles reversed in their attitude toward people who come into their store. Way to get me out of a bind Arlington Camera! Thank you so much for your support and going way above the call of duty! I'm an out of town photographer shooting her son's Rugby game with a loaner from Canon. The Canon battery was damaged and died mid game with all bars light up. I spoke with John at Arlington, explained to him that I was testing out the camera from CPS to see if I liked it and he immediately put me in contact with the Canon Rep in Dallas to borrow another battery! Arlington Camera is a great camera store Arlington, Texas. They have very knowledgeable staff and competitive prices. They don't necessarily beat online prices but they are not far behind, they have great sales prices, most importantly you get to see and handle the product and talk to the staff before buying, and they also sell online. I've been going here for last 5 yrs, got my professional engagement and wedding photos enlarged on canvas, 20×30, and just now got my baby's newborn pics enlarged both print and canvas. If you love cameras and photography this is the place. The staff are nice and patient and within reason are willing to discuss your needs and educate you. They are very knowledgeable of the equipment they sell. The place still has that disorganized old school charm which I appreciate. In fact sometimes it's hard to move around they have so much stuff but that actually gives it a pretty cool feel. The prices are competitive. You can sometimes do a little better online but you lose that personal interaction, assistance and support of a local business. In the long run its worth it to me if it insures this place continues to exist. read more

Was a big fan of Arlington camera until i was sold old, out of date R4 processing paper. I realize that this is not a high demand product, but expired product should not be on the shelf without clear indication that it is old. With the refusal to refund my 50 plus dollars spent on a worthless ruined item, i will not return to this business. What a shame... read more

They have a lot of product in stock but staff has an air of snobbery. I have shopped there a few time to give a few chances. I called to ask a question today about the new Canon MIII and jay was arrogant, condescending and rude to me on the phone and so that was the fifth strike they are out. They actually lost a sale today to another local shop. Mark 3 & 2 Lenes. I really try to support and purchase from local, family-owned establishments. I gave Arlington Camera a shot by purchasing accessories initially before making a large purchase. I was stunned by the "off hand" comments made toward me...and honestly should have left the store. I regret staying AND making a purchase. I just discovered Yelp. A few years ago I bought a Canon Digital Rebel camera at Arlington Camera and they ripped me off. It was my first digital camera and the clerk took advantage. The box had already been opened. I asked why the box was already open and he told me that he just opened it to make sure it was complete. It took me until after the return period to discover that the camera had a problem and it was not just my inexperience with digital cameras. They let me return it but charged me about $200 since it was after the return period. That camera was probably returned even before they sold it to me. I later learned that the early Digital Rebels had a problem with unstable White Balance. I can not trust them. I have never gone back there. read more

I got into photography just a couple of months ago and after searching for a local shop to acquire some gear, I stumbled upon Arlington Camera. I, like many reviewers here, try to support a local business before going to a big box store or online. I was a little apprehensive after seeing some of the reviews on here, but after making several trips out to AC, I can say with confidence that I've found my go-to store for a long, long time. The first time I went, I was greeted by two separate employees as I was browsing the store. The first thing I noticed was what seemed to be a great selection (although it could probably be organized a little bit better). Almost every brand of camera and lens, lots of lighting accessories and tripods, and a whole corner of the store dedicated to bags. When I wanted to look at a few cameras, the guy was happy to show me anything I wanted to see and offer his opinions. At no point did I feel like he was pushing one product over another or pressuring me to buy anything. Although I felt like I'd received adequate information, I still wanted to check with what online reviewers had said about the cameras/lenses I'd looked at. Seemed to me like the guy at AC really knew his stuff. I checked B&H, Adorama, etc. for prices, and almost everything was the same or very close. I went back and got my camera, experiencing the same level of friendliness, and have been back multiple times for other lenses and accessories. Not once had an employee failed to at least say hello. One time I went on a Friday afternoon and they were busier than I had ever seen them. I waited in a short line and was taken care of as soon as someone was free; that's about all you can ask for I think. I've also rented a couple of lenses from them. They require a credit card and driver's license, which seems like standard operating procedure from what I've heard. Jay has been very helpful and they seem to have a good selection. One time I tried to get a 70-200 and they were all out, but that was also on a Friday afternoon. I was told lenses like that one usually require a little bit more notice, which I can certainly understand. The first time I went in, I asked about the return policy to clarify what I'd read on here. It is store credit/exchange only, but they give you a decent amount of time to bring your item back. The way I saw it, I was getting a camera, and I wasn't going to decide out of the blue that I just didn't want a camera anymore. I was given two weeks to take mine home and experiment, and I loved it just like I thought I would based on the advice I was given in the store. Overall, I'm very happy I found this store and plan on giving them my business whenever I can. I've been disappointed by other small businesses before, so it's refreshing to find one that deserves my support like AC. read more

I always want to support local business. I have purchased many things from Arlington Camera over the years however EVERY time I do business with them I walk away with a bad taste in my mouth. The staff, with the exception of the guy that does rentals, is arrogant. They seem aloof and superior. It's too bad because I'd like to give them my business but with the internet I can just order online. It seems if they'd like to stay in business they could do better on friendly customer service. I purchased a camera bag recently (with cash) and decided that it wasn't the correct one for me. I had my receipt and decided to return it about 5 days later. The employee said he had to go speak with the manager about giving me my return, took his time and then said that they would make an exception this one time. I understand that they are a small business and need to sell however by accepting a return in a usual retail manner would ensure that I would want to do future business with them. read more

New to the DFW area and in search of a camera/supply store similar to what we had at home. Drove from Ft. Worth to try this one {the one if Ft. Worth was very similar to the one in my hometown (and the people were pleasant), but I like options}. Walked in, and although there were SEVERAL people standing around (who appeared to be employees), no one spoke or offered assistance. There was an employee assisting two ladies, and after overhearing their conversation, I needed similar assistance . . . so I waiting around. Once he checked them out, I turned to step to the register and he simply walked away. That was my cue to leave! . . . So much for customer service which is slightly more important to me than great prices. I hate to make a decision based on one visit, but I was quite upset. I might try it once more, but I'm not so sure . . . If my next visit is better, I will certainly update my review. read more

I took another roll of film to have it only developed and scanned onto a CD. The day that my film and CD were supposed to be ready I called and asked them if they were ready, and the guy I spoke with on the phone sounded rude, but said that my order was ready so I went to go pick it up. When I went to pay for my stuff they charged me only $5.99, which was different then the last time, when they charged me $7.99 a roll for the same service. I asked the lady that was ringing me up if they had lowered their prices, and she said that they hadn't, so I told her that last time they had charged me $7.99 for the same service. She said that they hadn't changed their prices, but that a different person was developing the film, so it appears to me that the price to have film developed and put onto a CD varies depending on the person who processes the film. They did a great job with my film, and the scanned images were crystal clear, but just be cautious about their prices, because in my case, the price was different for the same service I paid for because two different people had processed my film in both cases, and they both charged me a different price. $7.99 the first time with one employee, and $5.99 the second time with a different employee. read more
