After the chaos of moving the thought of re-painting the entire interior of our brand new home was overwhelming. We dreaded the disruption, but hated the look of our home. After 10 months we could stand it no longer and contracted with Whips. They were professional, reliable, pleasant to have around, and did everything possible to minimize the inconvenience to us. Most importantly, they did a beautiful job. We are thrilled and could not give a more enthusiastic endorsement!

I wasn't sure exactly what type of replacement I wanted; tank less or traditional. Jimmy was upfront and honest with all the options and explanations. I really appreciated that, and it helped me make a decision I was happy with. My old natural gas tank heater was 40 gallons. I always felt there wasn't enough hot water even with just 3 people in the home, probably because it was supporting a 3 story brown stone. Jimmy found a nice 50 gallon one, and scheduled next day installation. His team was on time, courteous, asked for water shut off location, and began the install. I was upstairs doing work. Couple hours later, he let me know it was all done and walked me through the work and the new electronic gas and pilot control unit on the new system. He even installed a new ball valve and gas valve at no extra charge. Using a lift crane to decorate their customers home they completely blocked the street for hours and yelled at the residents to "go around the block" and at one point even gave the middle finger to two of us. Rather than say "sorry for the inconvenience and would you mind going around temporarily", they chose to be extremely rude. I find this unacceptable for a company that touts themselves as "local".

Everybody's contractor experience is unique so please read my review with this in mind…read more We moved to Saratoga in 2009 and bought a "problem" home... a Victorian which had been carved into units by owners who had little regard for the integrity of the building. Our goal was to restore it to its original liveability as a single family home. Teakwood has a reputation as expensive and our initial bid, to do everything on a wish list, was pretty high. But they worked with us and a revised bid was significantly lower and we went with them. This bid entailed a clear-eyed distinction between "need to" and "nice to" improvements so we ended up with a price we were happy with. The quality of the work, both by Teakwood carpenters and their subs, is superb. Teakwood has a philosophy of assigning a master carpenter to oversee the job and our guy, Dan Decenzo, could not be better. Josh, the guy who did a number of built-ins, is a master of his craft and we now have benches and bookcases that look like they have been there 130 years like the rest of the structure. We were offered a 1 year satisfaction guarantee and I'm prompted to write because, well over 1 year after the fact, Dan has been back recently to fix a couple minor things. Bottom line, we are really happy with Teakwood and would definitely recommend you bid out your project to them.
