I had been thinking of building an ADU for a long time and finally had the team at EZ Plans come…read moreout and take a look at my project. They were highly recommended to me by people I trust. Deservedly so. Ray and Leslie are a gem. Their team, including Michael Song and Pilar Mutec, were a pleasure to work with. I am fairly detail oriented and Pilar was so easy to work with through my multiple design changes. She showed me multiple renderings and made changes as requested on the renderings, with Mike amending the plans as needed. All the while guiding me along the way. I was minutes away from getting a variance from the DWP to allow my ADU to come within the set back from the power poles when the Palisades' fire started. The EZ Plan's team fully cooperated when the DWP said no, and redrew my plans from scratch. They helped me qualify the contractors and walked me through the differences in the bids. Whenever I had a question during the construction process, they were there to help and guide me along the way. A BIG thank you to the EZ Plans team for making their part of the construction process as easy as it could have possibly been.

He was very responsive and was able to come to our home the same day. His walkthrough, insight and expertise was above and beyond. He was pushing a wheelbarrow on East Grand in Ojai. I was the building inspector. He asked why a HD7, 1 1/8" bolt for shear walls, would be installed in a masonry stem wall. My question was "why would someone pushing a wheelbarrow accurately point out a problem the architect/engineer of record missed? He the mentioned he graduated from Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo. I work in construction so I get it - that it's loud, and it gets dirty - but I'm living next door to a home this architect is remodeling and his and his contractors ethics are terrible. The contractors leave messes all over my property and don't clean them up for days and days, they leave their lunch mess on my property and watch pornos on their breaks under my window... so gross! My nieces had to hear it!! And why are they on my property eating their lunch?? they violate the noise ordinance regularly and start at 6:30 and worst of all he and the owner are encouraging his contractors to break the law and not being courteous to residents around his construction sites. His client told me because I'm a renter, I don't have any rights and they can start whenever they want... wtf???? Very unprofessional architect and construction crew. Bottom shelf operation all around. Oh and I almost forgot when I came outside this morning at 6:40 to say not to start before 7am, the contractor told me to "shut the fuck up" and to "fuck off"... real classy group of people.. And as for this firm's claim regarding site observation, when I called, the firm tried to blame everything on the contractors and that they hadn't been to this site... wth?? Every good architect knows that their contractors are a reflection of their values and ethics.

They then proceeded to install a venting system. When I asked them where they got their figures that a vent would be sufficient, they would not tell me nor provide anything. Kara Davis and company are not ethical and I would have everything triple checked, or better yet, don't use them at all.

We had ADU drawings…read moredesigned at this firm about a year ago and the whole process from drawing to structural engineer to getting the city permit were all done here. I had chose RM designs after interviewing more than 7 firms. What stood out about RM was the knowledge that Robert had in the construction business and what the city wants. It seems that he is constantly educating himself on what city planning wants. He was very helpful in answering any questions we may have in regard to construction. Even though he is already done designing our project, his willingness to answer any questions and help us understand the process of construction had been very helpful. The value of the project is reasonable and their service was beyond what I expected. Thus, I highly recommend this firm in handling any of your future remodeling or builds.
