I had a few holes in my lawn, and I was concerned about them. I knew we had chipmunks, so I…read morethought it was maybe them. Fortunately, the chipmunks were not in the house, but I was concerned that they would eventually get in. After calling two other smaller vendors and getting estimates, they both were trying to get me on expensive subscription plans. I called Accurate Pest Control (Accurate Pest Management), who sent Mark. Mark was a pleasant person to talk to and a professional. He listened to what I had to say about the situation, and then he did his examination on my property. He was very knowledgeable about pest control, and identified that we had rats in addition to chipmunks on the property. He told me the chipmunks are not interested in getting into the house, but the rats would be interested. He noted that some of the holes had dirt piled up next to them, and only rats do that. Mark said that he prefers to start with less drastic measures first, which is to use bait boxes. I had to buy the bait boxes, but I would own them. The other two vendors only allowed me to lease the boxes. He explained to me the bait he was putting into the boxes, and also educated me on basic rodent behavior. He also set expectations that while we hope for a "one and done" situation, there are likely rodents in the surrounding areas also coming to my property for food, so it may take some time to get the problem eliminated or greatly mitigated. He recommended that I get on a maintenance program on a monthly basis to start. After subsequent visits, if the pest problem has been eliminated, I can stop the program or wait longer for the next visit. Although it is a maintenance program, I am only charged for the visit itself. The other vendors' subscription model would result in me paying even if the service was not actively being used. I have had 3 visits so far, and I see almost no chipmunks and I don't see any new rat holes. The bait is still being consumed, but at a slower rate, so the situation is getting under control. For the third visit, Accurate sent Stephen over as Mark was on vacation. He was also a pleasant person and had actually talked to Mark beforehand to understand the situation on my property. With a lot of these contracting businesses, the person who comes to visit you can make the difference between getting the business or not. In my case, Accurate sent two good technicians who listen to the customer, have a pleasant demeanor, and are knowledgeable in their field.
