Amazing folks with an outstanding Dr! I can't say enough great things about this vet.

We were loyal customers for over 15 years. I cannot recommend this vet and refuse to bring my pets here ever again. Our family cat was killed by Dr. M. Hobbs on Tuesday, August 22,2023 when it was boarded. She was an 8 year old cat and had been confused with a male, 1 year old stray cat that Dr. M. Hobbs knew personally from his backyard. He even named the stray cat Pete. Both cats were black and white. When asked about the accident he told us he was trying to get it over with and head to lunch. He discovered the mistake after his lunch break and it was too late. He said that our cat had been placed into the other cats cage when the techs were cleaning it. We took our perfectly healthy pet in and entrusted them to keep her alive. Instead, we walked out with a frozen cat in a garbage bag labeled with masking tape and ready to be buried. We were driving through Stephenville, after clinic hours, when we realized my little chihuahua was having symptoms of heat stroke, even though he was in our air-conditioned car. We started trying to find an emergency vet and were directed to Ark Veterinary Hospital by some locals at a pet supply store. Even though it was after hours, Dr. Karen Hobbs answered the phone and said she'd wait there for us. She treated my little dog Beau with such care and compassion, ultimately getting him out of danger. She is so thoughtful, caring and a truly talented veterinarian. The Ark and its entire staff have been a real blessing to my family and our pets. They have taken care of our many dogs and cats for almost 20 years. Dr. Karen and Dr. Marlon Hobbs and Dr. Dodson have been so professional, as is the entire staff. We have had several crisis over the years with our pets (snake bites, poisonings etc) and the Ark has always been there to help us. In addition they have been very professional in reminding us of routine shots that are needed, and taking care of things such as nat trimmings, boarding as well. If it weren't for the detailed eye of Dr. Dodson, and the careful hands of Dr. Marlon, my dog would've faced certain death. Everyone was very helpful, sweet, and genuinely concerned for the well being of my boy, Cairo. Hopefully I won't need to return anytime soon, but if I face a small animal emergency again, I will definitely return here. My dog had to have a very invasive surgery that required a section of intestine to be removed as well as his appendix. This requirement was confirmed by Texas A&M and Dr.Marlon was able to perform the surgery with no complications. read more

I have experienced many vets here in Stephenville and this is the ONLY one I will ever send my animals to! The Cornerstone clinic on Lingleville is unorganized and pricey for regular household pets. It might be different for horses. Ark Vet Hospital is soooo compassionate and caring with my babies. They even called me when they began surgery and the second they got out the called to let me know they were safe. They are very gentle with them too! I hate when they are so rough with the animals... this place is not! The nurses are always smiling when you enter! Bring your fur babies here! read more

Just took my dogs in for their annual vaccines and to be put on flea/tick prevention. As usual, they were great! I had two dogs who had heart worm tests, and one of them threw a fit. It felt like dealing with a salesman; "Spot is so lucky to have you - you care so much for Spot to give him the very best - How WONDERFUL! Here's a payment schedule." ... In all my life I have never been so impressed by a veterinarian hospital. Everyone that works at Ark is absolutely amazing and beyond helpful. They listened to every single concern about my fur baby and helped her immediately. They work so well with not only the animals but the owners as well. My friend also takes her dog there and he is sick, while we were there the Vet listened to my friends concerns and prescribed medicine for her baby as well. I had a medical emergency with my 6 year old dog last night. My normal vet is Animal Health & Medical and I love them, but last night when I called my normal vet they were already on an emergency and my dog could not wait. She looked like she was having a stoke her whole right side was lagging and she couldn't walk. So I called Ark Veterinary Hospital after I have already called 3 other vets that were also busy, the woman answered the phone and I asked her if there was a vet on call tonight and she gets snippy with me and says "EXCUSE ME" so I asked her again then she asked me if I was a patient there and I told her no I am not. She replies with, "well you need to call your normal vet to see if they have someone on call." I then replied, "I already have and they are busy, I need someone now." This is after I have already told her that I have already called 3 vets including mine. Then she rudely says to me, "Well there are already 3 people that are pending to speak to the vet and they are actual clients of ours so they will come first." After she said that I replied, "You know what I will just call someone else!" and hung up. I apologize for the horrible grammar and long story but I am OUTRAGED! How could a professional talk to someone like that! I was in so much pain not knowing if my dog is going to make it and you basically just give me a slap in the face for not being a patient there! read more

I just went through a very close call with one of cats. She's 2 years old. I noticed frequent vomiting and was hesitant to go to a vet because we all know cats occasionally throw up. Well, I buckled down and went here as this occurred on a Saturday, and they were open and answered the phone right away. The front desk lady said they were pretty booked, but asked what was going on. Questions I didn't even think about that I wish I would of noticed sooner. She said to come in now if I wanted. I did. The office is nice, everyone I have came encounter with is professional, KNOWLEDGABLE, and respectful. My cat ended up having a full colon impaction. Dr. Dodson diagnosed/had a good hunch of it before the X-ray started as of course they called for my permission to X-ray. HE explained my cat was really distended and he's concerned about a blockage or impaction. He explained that there COULD be a perforation in the bowel, but he didn't harp on that too much, but made sure I was informed & aware of the serious problems that could be going on...Man. My cat was severely impacted. He irrigated her colon, did all the medications, monitoring, procedure, etc. This story just now begins, and doesn't end here!! 2 days later my cat just refused to drink, then refused to eat. Became lethargic. I figured I was screwed as it was already 1130PM on a Sunday night. I went on there website and they have an after hours emergency number that an answering service answers, and of course if its a serious thing (like my situation) she or he pages Dr. Dodson. He called me back in 3-4 minutes. He explained his concerns. He even asked me to check a few things on my sick kitty like her gum color and the capillary refill time. He made the smart educated decision that my cat needs to be seen very soon, but he assured me theres no need to panic and go to a ER. He told me to see him in 6-7 hours at the clinic. I met with him first thing. I was desperate and wanted and was willing to pay for ALL tests, and I told him that. However, he stayed calm, and focused on the priorities first like a complete look at the body by drawing labs, and then doing a repeat X-ray. He wanted me to think more safety first but factor in and think economically too. Not a lot of businesses will help you calm down, and then tell you to stop, think, what's most important to rule out while limiting expensive tests. Next step was a repeat X-ray. She obviously had no waste in intestines, but her colon was 3x bigger than it should be. He called me right away, explained what he found. The treatment, including OTC & Supplement medications, along with Hills Diet information. Dr. Dodson takes time to properly educate you. I had SO many questions, and he answered them all. If your wondering still about my kitty, Dr. Dodson prescribed a good megacolon pill, listed 2 supplements to add into wet food(wets the best as its more moisture) and ingredients to be aware of if I wanted to go food shopping at a regular store. My cat is recovering quick, she is resting now, probably better than ever before. Dr. Dodson knows what to look for, how to go about intervening, treating and managing animal health conditions. Dr. Dodson not only did you save me a fortune, as your a true genuine caring man, but you saved my cats life. I can't thank you enough. I will always be grateful I found you. Long story short, this is the vet to go to people!!! Highly recommend! He is now all of my babies permanent new veterinarian. Never will I go anywhere else. read more
