Dr. Havens had no suggestions except that I should be a better mother. After a week in the "Christian" ward she was discharged. I was broke in divorce. Three months later on Thanksgiving Day I was alone, the first time ever with no family on Thanksgiving Day, right after my mother's death. My wayward daughter was gone I did not know where. and I was sobbing, heavily grieving my mother's cruel death, As I was sobbing in grief, I received a phone call from Dr. Havens demanding payment. I told him that I was broke, going through divorce and trying to work for a living, but that I'd make monthly payments. He angrily retorted, "I don't care about YOUR problems! I want my money NOW!" I was a patient for 3.5+ years before I spoke to him. Our first appointment was scheduled for 20 and billed for 30 minutes. Actual length? 7 minutes. He called me "my dear" several times which I think was an attempt to build rapport, but it landed somewhere between fake and lecherous. (2 stars for him) Back to the support staff, all offshore except the office manager. There is often a language barrier, like when the billing department called and asked to speak to "Doe Jane" instead of "Jane Doe" and referenced my recent visit with "Smith Mary." I usually need to call twice before someone answers the phone, and need to leave several messages before the provider gets them. On 2 occasions, I had a conversation with the NP where I mentioned trying to reach her several times and she said she never got a message until that day. Another time, the receptionist called and said, "[NP] wants me to tell you that she had an emergency and left early. She won't be able to call you today, but she will call you tomorrow." The provider hadn't been informed that I was looking for her. And didn't call back until I had left 2 more messages and spent 2 weeks thinking that she was purposely avoiding my calls. Another time, I left 2 messages for and emailed the office manager over the course of a week. When I called the next week and said I thought there was insurance fraud happening, she called me back immediately. Billing practices were explained in different incorrect ways by the billing department and then the office manager, both of which led me to believe there was insurance fraud happening. When I finally spoke to the NP, she explained it in 30 seconds and it made sense. Yes, the NP is good, but she doesn't operate alone. I stuck with her for nearly 4 years, but I finally got fed up with everyone around her.

For example if you ask to switch your medication he will refuse to and he has a very unhealthy obsession with Electroconvulsive Therapy which is a joke because there's plenty of medication to treat Depression and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Save your time, money, and mental health by going to a more empathetic physician who will listen to your concerns instead of ignoring you when you voice concerns by making excuses that are detrimental to the patient since he mostly treats women.

I've been seeing Dr. Blue since 2020 and reached out to him during the latter of 2019. It started as weekly, transitioned to bi-weekly sessions, and finally tapered off to monthly sessions. My mental health has improved since the introduction of Dr. Blue, and he's helped me get through some pretty difficult chapters of my life. He has incredible compassion, is knowledgeable, and is insightful with decades of experience. Dr. Blue is patient and optimistic yet realistic. He seeks deeper connections and is constantly looking to change as you need and while you experience setbacks and moments of growth. His office also accepts a wide variety of insurances (i.e. UnitedHealthcare). Therapy often has a social stigma that you're considered "broken" after experiencing a setback; it doesn't have to be that way. Having a healthy mindset is helpful in one's life and the choices we make. Having Dr. Blue in your corner is the first step to healing. I cannot even describe how much he has encouraged, challenged, and helped me. He is someone who creates a wonderfully safe and therapeutic space where I feel comfortable and able to be vulnerable. The doctor replied by arguing with me about how it was all just fine because he's from India where there's way more poor and starving people but at least they don't have a national budget deficit. He persisted in this way when I pointed out various differences in the way government budgets between the two countries work and when I told him I was done arguing about it he quickly ended the call. I dropped this group of doctors and now see someone else, who posses both empathy for the less fortunate and the wisdom to not have paternalistic arguments with their adult patients.

I was actually extremely disappointed with this facility. Not only did I feel they were overpriced, but when I questioned them on their prices, and proof of being overcharged...I was confronted with attitude from the front office. This of course happened on SEVERAL occasions. As well as clarification on their billing. I was told to pay before I see the Dr. However with my insurance they have me reimburse the practice later. Dr. Diehl's office had a policy they wanted to charge of time of service, regardless how your insurance company does it. Which was totally fine, I didn't have a problem with that. I looked at it as, I get the payment out of the way and not worry about it later. This is where the issue happened. I would pay for the visit at the time of the visit...but then I would pay again for the same visit through a bill in the mail?!?! WTH? This happened so often I ended up paying more then what I was suppose to. When I tried to discuss this with the front office (on several occasions) I was met with an extreme attitude. I felt I was treated like an idiot who can't figure out their billing system, and their policies. The lady in the front (don't remember her name) black woman in her 30's, always has an attitude, and is never polite to any of the clientele. Finally enough was enough and supposedly I owed over $100, which I knew I didn't. When discussing it over the phone with this same woman...more attitude was given. I finally had reached my limit, showed up at the office to try and figure out this billing issue. Again, the woman at the front, was so damn rude we ended up getting Dr. Diehl involved. Which then I was treated as if I'm mentally unstable to handle the issue. Which pissed me off even more! I am a mental health patient for OCD (cleaning) and some anxiety...however when you mess with someones money...anybody would get upset. That was the final straw. If you can go somewhere else I would. The front office made the experience awful, and Dr. Diehl was not all that great. Even before that issue, I always felt she was very cold and I was just another pay check. I ended up leaving and going to Strong Tower Behavioral Center. They're reasonably priced and everyone has been extremely helpful. Not only that, they're always in constant communication with you on any questions you may have.

Finally reached someone and provided a cancelled check showing they deposited our payment in their account. They still request more personal bank information before resolving. Absolutely unacceptable and poor billing process. Obviously having a special needs child with BPD is difficult enough with many mental health bills over the years. Receiving an erroneous bill monthly that was paid 15 months earlier doesn't help with our stress and frustration. Also their care did not improve our daughter's condition but BPD is not curable so I don't fault them for their efforts with care...just very poor billing service.
