LOL, had to get one.

We had some time to kill and so decided to peruse around Little Tokyo and stumbled upon this shop…read more They had a TON of fun Japanese gift items and decor like stationary, postcards, kitchenware, maneki nekos, origami paper, and so much more. They also had a lot of traditional items/supplies for tea ceremonies, calligraphy, and kimonos. I had fun looking through all the items as it brought me back to our summer in Japan. Apparently they have a long standing history in LA, having opened in 1946 after World War II. The shop occupies the site of the first Japanese-owned business in Los Angeles, circa 1890's. Pretty cool! I have a soft spot for everything animal shaped and soo.... I picked up a fun/odd felt tiger Christmas ornament, a cat pen, and a super cute bronze cat shaped spoon that hangs on the side of your cup. Did I need it? No.... but it's fun and makes me happy. Haha! Overall, great shop to browse around and find some unique gift items. They even wrap up your purchases in paper bags like they do in Japan. I LOVE IT!

The selection is fantastic- I went in looking specifically for aquarium friendly plants and left with such an awesome selection! And I feel like it was all reasonably priced too! Bianca immediately welcomed me in and was so approachable- I'm new to the plant world and she was WONDERFUL! Bianca and Matt were incredibly helpful, and Matt especially impressed me with his plant knowledge. He really knew his stuff and made the whole experience even better! Parking can be a little tricky, but I found street parking right out front without too much hassle. Totally worth it. Highly recommend!

I was impressed by the size of the store, with both an indoor and outdoor section filled plants, planting supplies, and other types of home decor. Staff members were friendly and patient whenever I had questions or needed assistance, and they were very attentive. Given the huge layout it could take some time to find a free employee, but their workers made sure I knew about the various options that could meet my search criteria. I was pleased with the pots that I found and thought the prices were comparative to what I saw at Sunset Nursery. I would definitely recommend checking out this shop!
