Great school. I was in the English major, also took a Capoeira class here. Only good experiences.

What sets this school apart is how intentionally they integrate faith into every part of the student experience. Every professor is a committed Christian, and they don't just teach -- they mentor, pray for, encourage and genuinely care about their students. At ACU, every student graduates with a minor in Biblical Studies, regardless of major. It's not just about getting a degree -- it's about being equipped to make an impact in the world, rooted in Biblical truth. The small class sizes are a huge plus too! You're not just a number here. Professors know your name, and there's a real sense of community and purpose on campus. Whether you're studying psychology, business, education, or any other program, ACU challenges you to think critically and lead courageously -- all from a biblical worldview. The campus is beautiful, growing, and full of life. Chapel is powerful, student life is vibrant, and there's always something happening and a community to get plugged into. If you're looking for a Christ-centered university that combines rigorous academics, strong values, and a mission to transform culture with truth, Arizona Christian University is the place. It's courageously Christian! Roll Storm!!

So here's the thing. In general, I would say Ottawa has provided me with a great education. The…read moreteachers know their stuff and I had a positive experience in most of my classes and with most of my professors. But that being said I absolutely would NOT recommend going here to a friend. At least not right now while they are so disorganized. I just graduated from Ottawa University's Masters of Counseling program and have been very frustrated and disappointed the last year and a half or so, ever since the longstanding director Dr. Hernandez left. The university has made no attempt to hire anyone else to help, leaving the former field placement director, Dr. Thomas, in charge of his role as field placement director/professor, as well as all the responsibilities of the program director. Clearly, no matter how well-intentioned or how good Dr. Thomas was at his job, taking on more roles than one can reasonably handle is not fair to the students. I have certainly still paid the same amount in the last 1.5 years+, but have gotten considerably less value. Trying to reach Dr. Thomas, whom you need to be in contact with concerning various parts of licensure, has been nothing short of ridiculously difficult. From speaking with other students in classes over the past year and a half or so, I can say with confidence everyone has had the same experience of having a very difficult time getting a response to emails/calls. In fact, someone who walked the stage in May with me (but they had finished with their classes and exams and graduated in December of last year) actually brought a form with him to the graduation ceremony that he needed Dr. Thomas to sign because he was not able to reach him all spring. Not getting that form signed meant his licensure date got pushed back and thus he got paid less at his job, despite meeting all the requirements needed to be a LAC, all because he couldn't get ahold of our program director. Now, after I was told I needed to take my Comp exam in the Spring 1 term in order to have a May conferral (graduation) date, and busting my butt to study in order to do so and passing said exam, I have been told they made an error and that my conferral will be put off an additional 2 months. This means my ability to work and make money as a single mom has also been put off an additional 2 months. To say the administration has been less than helpful would be an understatement.

I asked for a break after my mom passed away, they unenrolled me from the program. I was one class…read moreaway!! Also they do not provide help with internships. They make you go through so much work and it can be overwhelming. When I asked for help, I didn't get any and was told to just do what the paper says. I do not recommend!! Waste of money!!

I took a few online science classes in 2019 after learning that the graduate program I was applying…read moreto did not accept science credits over 5 years old. Meaning, I had to retake A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and chemistry. Ughh! Why? If its the same field as my undergrad? Last time I took those courses was my sophomore year of college back in 2005. Alas, it had to be done. Rio salado is strictly an online college but It's still within the Maricopa community colleges. This location is just one of the many testing centers they have throughout the Valley but I would frequent this one for midterms and finals because they are open Saturday. Tuition is only $85 per credit hour vs $800 at ASU. If you have never taken higher level science course before, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do it online. It may seem convenient but the courses are just as intense as in person courses and you don't get the advantage of having a lecture. All studying and learning is solely on you. Another thing to consider; the labs are online and not hands on which in my opinion is vital for A&P and microbiology. You will get pictures of human cadavers and microorganisms but it is not the same. Especially when learning the muscular and skeletal system. There is nothing like seeing the insertion and origin of a muscle and feeling each notch and process of a bone in person on an actual cadaver. You don't get to gram stain bacteria either but you better bet they will test you on the process extensively. I had retained most of the info from the first time I took those courses yet the amount of hours studying I had to put in was still significant. Plus, if you have a question you will have to email your instructor and it may take a few days to hear back from them. I especially liked my microbiology instructor Allison. She truly cared and gave great feedback when grading labs and essays. For me, this was an affordable and convenient stepping stone towards my educational goals. All while allowing me to raise a family and seek (and later maintaining) full time employment.
