The trainers are very knowledgeable and provide personal tips and coaching. You get to wear a heart rate monitor so they can help you stay in the optimal training zone. The staff are incredible and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. All the equipment you need is here and the best part is the program and training is excellent. I love seeing many of the same small group regulars and we encourage each other as we go through the paces. The place is also really fresh, clean and new. You can even get a body analysis to help you understand what you need to work on to achieve body balance and muscle goals. If you are looking to improve your shape, your strength and your health at a price that beats the big corporate gym/clubs, this is the team to join. You won't be disappointed.

She is incredibly professional and well educated, but also seems to have that rare touch - a natural as a professional trainer. Hands down, Linda is THE BEST trainer I have ever worked with in all of Northern California! I've worked with other trainers before, and have even participated at Crossfit, but what makes her different from any other trainer is that 1) She genuinely cares about her clients and their fitness goals, and 2) She makes SURE that you are able to get the best workouts, with the right amount of intensity (and it varies with each person), SAFELY. She knows what she's doing as your trainer, even when you don't. Because of her, I not only reached my fitness goals, I went beyond them. Thank you Linda!!

We found Underground Fitness on Yelp. My wife and I were looking for a gym that's close to home and…read moreone that offers personal and group training. Although I've been going to gym since high school, my eating habits are not always ideal and I've always struggled with weight. At my April 2026 doctor's checkup I weighed the most I've ever been. Yikes! Some extreme lifestyle changes were needed, especially since I'm a dad juggling with a career. As a Yelper, I also need better health to enjoy good food , travel and enjoy life more! We signed up with Gil for 30, 1-hr private workouts. The results have so far been amazing - after 4 months, I lost about 20 pounds and feel better. Clothes feel looser and recent bloodwork showed great reduction in blood sugar. We recently re-signed for another 30 sessions based on excellent results to date. Here's why I recommend Underground Fitness if you are serious about weight loss: 1. Gil helps design a meal plan based on your target weight. Nothing too drastic - he reviews your daily meal and makes suggested changes and additions. In some cases you're adding food (hello egg whites and cottage cheese). 2. You get daily protein, carb, and fat targets that are easy to measure by uploading photos to any free AI agent - see Yelpers are naturally good at this! 3. Love the flexibility - weekly 1-hr sessions work best for me since I have access to my Corporate gym. Gil designs workouts each week via App that will guide you whether you work at home, travel, or have access to another gym. 4. The actual 1-hr workouts with Gil are brutal but you'll feel great afterwards. A mix of barbells, dumbbells, bands, cardio rowing/bikes, medicine balls, TRX, and pushing or pulling really heavy sleds. 5. With private training, you get a great coach and mentor in Gil, and can leverage his expertise to achieve your health goals. The cost is more expensive than a gym membership but if you want results, I believe the investment is well worth it.

I feel very comfortable with his personality and he knows very well how to push me further than I thought I was capable. His military training is perfect for this purpose. Dan is up on all of the latest health concepts and will help you get from theory to practice. It is amazing what he knows about diet and exercise. I thought I was knowledgeable but now I am working with a master. The initial sessions were well thought out and thorough. There was a whole questionnaire getting him up to speed on your current knowledge and exercise/eating habits, so that he could then design a program tailored to your goals on your schedule. His gym is in SOMA, but he regularly does workouts outside where it is more convenient for you. I am a long distance runner, but was looking for cross training to assist me with my goals. As well, the kind of full body strength training Dan provides enhance the weight loss and muscle building that you max out on running. I'll give an update later after more sessions, but I see only good things to come.
