I have to begin this review by saying it has always been my philosophy that I would not ever write…read morea review on Yelp b/c it is just a venue for disgruntled customers. But today, I had an interaction that was so extremely unprofessional, that I chose to write a Yelp review. Others in my HOA worked with this company for the past few years to have signs made for our private road. Even in these transactions, from looking at prior emails, it took an inordinately long amount of time to get the finished product. When it came to be my job (I inherited the presidency of the HOA, which is circulated each year) I had to have another sign made b/c the sign was stollen. I worked with Signs Now for 6 months, and yes, I do agree there were issues as to what the HOA wanted, but that was not my personal choice. Once it was decided what was needed currently, I tried to work with Bert Johnson, the Owner/Manager. I sent him multiple emails with the desired signage and other information, but after weeks nothing was done. I would contact Bert, and eventually I would get to talk with him. Today I tried to make an appointment to get this project done, and when I implied that it already had taken so long, and that I had already given him all the needed information (which is true) he said he did not want our business and would not agree to make an appointment with me. I would NEVER work with this company. I am sure they are fine for big corporate orders. But for small orders, they have no interest, they will not be responsive, and you will not get a finished product. I have today already called two other companies who have promised me a turn around time of about a week once the proofs are approved. Why would anyone work with Signs Now?? Not me. Never.

I had two metal fountain pen caps engraved here, and I have to say that this really was the best…read moreexperience (quality of job, service, pricing) among several engraving retailers. First, I have had 2 other engravers tell me it was impossible to get this job done (Things Remembered was one of them). It is tricky because of the size of the pen cap and its curvature, which requires manual rotation while engraving. Many engravers don't have equipment that can properly clasp a small metal cap. These factors made the job altogether more challenging. For some random and unrelated reasons, I have had this exact job done before, so I have another engraved version of the pen cap with which to make the comparison. The original job was at Wentworth & Sloan in Chapel Hill for a total of $40. While their job was nice, the engraving is more surface-level and fainter. Probably because of their equipment. I went back to them originally to have the jobs redone, but the former engraver, Susan, is no longer working there. I would never take it there again though, given the current engraver has an attitude and is evidently less experienced. From her doubtful looks, I did not trust her to do this without messing it up. Signs Now's engraver, Lewis, did a marvelous job, honestly better than the first time I had this done through Wentworth. The engraving is deeper, more visible, and very skillfully done as the font size is slightly smaller. The two pens were engraved for $24 - I could not believe the amazing price, having gone to at least 3 other engravers before. Furthermore, no attitude from the ladies working the register. This place just seems down to earth and friendly, a contrast to the treatment I have experienced elsewhere. So in conclusion, I would trust Signs Now with my engraving jobs in the future. Great pricing, and they proved their expertise in engraving with my pen caps.

Would not recommend them with high carat gold. Wanted to turn my 24k gold into other jewelry and…read morethey did a scratch test to test the gold. They stated it was 22k. As a jeweler, they should know scratch tests are not meant for higher carat gold but a xrf or pmi gun. Took it to a pawn shop for testing and even the jewel recycle and they both confirmed it was 24k. Them being jewelers, they should know this and not try to scam customers. Their work is amazing from what I have seen but I can not trust them. Beware.

From the moment I met one of the owners, this gem of a store got my attention. Before setting foot into the shop, I was impressed by their proactive, organic social media campaigns. The visit to Jewel Smith of Durham blew our minds. The attention to in-store customer service was most refreshing and sadly unique. They know how to make the jewelry purchase experience fun and memorable. Each piece is created by talented architects with impressive tools and timeless machinery. There are exquisite pieces that are one of a kind with gems carefully purchased from every part of our planet. I realized after my first visit to the local mall here how I'd never again attempt a purchase at a chain jeweler. It's not too late for Christmas with their fully staffed extended Holiday hours and a dedicated parking lot. And then there's always Valentines Day.
