About seven months ago, I moved to Argyle House Apartments from another luxury apartment building nearby. The building is maintained well, has an excellent eucalyptus aroma, 24-hour security, and has top-tier amenities (probably the best pool area in LA). Alexa and the staff are always pleasant and accommodating. It has a great, safe community vibe, almost like a resort. The location is unbeatable, within walking distance from restaurants, stores, etc. The windows, walls, and floors are soundproof, as I never hear any of my neighbors or the Hollywood nightlife. That is super crucial on my checklist. The Manager, Kyle, and the rest of the staff are super responsive and on top of things. It's a great place to live in the heart of Hollywood. read more

Update: this building is 100% contaminated with deadly mold. I had the place tested because I kept getting sick and wasn't sure why. The building didn't really care when I told them and showed the tests. Keep in mind yelp will remove false reviews and I wouldn't be able to say this if it wasn't true. Traumatized this is The worst building at the highest price. They basically bribed me for a good rating to fix things that never got fixed. I had an electrical fire start in my sleep Twice because they refused to fix my sliding glass door for months and when it rained water got into an outlet, they still didn't fix it until I completely lost it. It is illegal for a building to not make certain repairs in a certain amount of time, the sliding glass is one of them. Their complacency resulted in my entire room having to get new flooring because the water damage from the leak. Then I couldn't sleep in my master bedroom for weeks because they kept putting off the repairs. All this is on record. Still not so much as an apology from anyone or any resolution. We have a concierge which I am in regular contact with and yesterday instead of taking 2 seconds to message me about a leak happening the maintenance person entered my unit without warning while I was in the shower. Common sense would have you think if there is such a leak it's a big possibility someone could be in the bath or shower maybe take one second to text before you bathe in my home un announced but no. I was obviously scared and so rattled I didn't sleep that night and Jason the property manager who started my first day here by telling me I didn't live here didn't apologize and told me they had every right to enter during an emergency legally. I guess the fire wasn't an emergency? Today I'm also getting the place tested for mold because I've been getting sick and see other residents online and in the building saying the same. Please go literally anywhere else this place is cursed. read more

Reggie is an absolute Legend! Story time... It all started at 8:43pm when we arrived home after a long day at work. All of a sudden our key fob wasn't working to open our unit. After multiple failed attempts trying to gain access... the front desk had to call Superman "Reggie" to save the day. I felt bad because Reggie was at home and had to come all the way to the Argyle House at such a late hour. By the time Reggie arrived it was about 10:00pm and it was his time to shine. After trying to use the fobs master key and the (emergency unlock-er) we were having no luck, but Reggie didn't give up. He then tested the (emergency unlock-er) on the model unit at Argyle House and it worked just fine. After that he came back up to our unit and tried again... but no luck. He knew that my girlfriend would kill me if she didn't have her makeup wipes and medicine tonight so he had a 2nd wind of strength to get this door open. By this time it was 11:25pm... and it was just myself, Reggie and the door. He gave it one last shot... and CLICK! The (emergency unlock-er) opened the door. Thank you Reggie, I owe you my man! To Management and concierge, maintenance staff. Let start off by saying my air filter wasn't changed in the almost two years I stayed there and scheduled to have it taken care of and the maintenance Magager Reggie never showed. Reggie is probably one of the most laziest managers I have ever seen. When he sees a problem completely ignores it till it become his problem. When asked about it was brushed under the rug. I ask for them not to enter my unit and they did anyways when I was not home. I rescheduled a lock upgrade and they never showed. And in the same day my fire alarm test/check was never done. No call or anything. Trash was piled high in the trash room on my floor weekly and nothing was done until much later. Carpet was stained and never cleaned. The main gate broke three time during my stay and would be broken for a month to 6 month with no updates only really worked for maybe a month total. Security was implemented but never stopped my visitors or myself. Just didn't care. Most of the time there were gone or sleeping in there cars. How is that type of security should make me feel safe. Jason lives in the building and sees this and did nothing of affect. Jason would not respond to emails or call regarding issues. There were a number of crimes in the building including theft of vehicle and no one in the community was notified. My vehicle was next to one of the thefts. Armed robbery brake in nothing was mentioned to us. How are we supposed to feel safe if they are hiding stuff from us. I am contacting them via call and email and being completely ignored. I was told by the front desk that crime was needed to be hidden from tenets of the building. This was not the standard of livening I was expecting from Related and that they did not uphold the contractual standards of the lease. read more

His friendliness always make me feel welcome and he will go the extra mile to make me feel safe. I have been blown away with his kindness. Lived here for 1 year. If I could have broken my lease earlier, I would have. This building is so poorly managed. I am a low maintenance tenant who was away at work long hours and never filed any maintenance tickets. I emailed Jessica a few times about problems and got no response. Still waiting to be reimbursed for missing dry cleaning, lost packages, and damaged items... This building is not made up of young professionals. Instead, it's spoiled trust fund kinds who don't work, leave their trash in the halls, smoke a lot of weed inside, have parties throughout the week, are sloppy drunks, and let their dogs urinate inside the building. These are some of the most entitled brats in LA. You should be prepared to live like you are in a dorm. You're very near the freeway, so the air quality is horrible already (your outdoor stuff will have a thick layer of grime) but the building also has serious ventilation problems. I got mold poisoning while living there (positive toxicity tests for me and for my unit). My neighbor told me his girlfriend got sick as well. They have no plan to keep their residents safe during Coronavirus. If you decide to move in here, you'll need to be wildly careful in the elevators and common areas. The owner of the building is one of Trump's biggest donors. You'll need to reconcile giving him lots of your money. I wish someone had told me that before I signed a lease so I could have avoided this experience altogether. read more

This is a gorgeous building with incredible amenities. As soon as you walk in the tone is set: beautifully appointed, attentive staff, and even a custom scent. Situated right in the heart of Hollywood, the best restaurants are within walking distance. But why would you want to leave when you have a fully-equipped gym, gorgeous Olympic-sized swimming pool, bbq area, billiards table, and even a dog run. If you're able to snag a unit overlooking the pool you're in for an amazing view of it + the iconic Capitol Records building. Amazing space. read more

Awful... awful building. Quite literally the worst living experience I've ever had. I consider myself a low-maintenance tenant. I'm rarely even there to begin with (travel a lot). I lived there for 2 years. I moved out recently after having my brand new car stolen from the garage. Lets start with my the problems: 1. Garage gate is constantly broken. They hire security to sit outside but most times they are incompetent or not there. As long as I've lived there, the gate has only worked for a few months. Leads to security issues in the garage. People getting followed home and robberies happen. 2. Management. Incredibly incompetent and disorganized. Constant changing of who is in charge. Nobody knows whats going on. They hire the worst people. Recent property manager is rude and unhelpful. Was frankly obstructionistic of security footage when I was victim of theft in the garage. Try and file a complaint with corporate? Impossible. If you can get a hold of them, they will act sympathetic and promise change... but nothing happens. Could it be because Related is selling the building, and they just don't care anymore? I wonder.... 3. Security issues. Did I mention security problems? Its Hollywood, so it's dangerous. But don't expect management to care about your safety. Units got broken into while I was there. A person was robbed at gunpoint in the garage. Garage gate is broken and my brand new $150k Audi got stolen (I'll get into that later). 4. Corporate. Try and call them to complain? Impossible. They will ignore you. 5. Front desk. For some reason, there is only one person at the desk at all times. It creates problems. 6. Disappearing amenities. Coffee machine??...Where did it go? 7. Hollywood. The area is incredibly sketchy. Homeless tents literally across the street. Unhoused neighbors walking outside screaming like zombies. Shootings occur on nearby Hollywood blvd and Gower street. Just open the Citizen app and see how much chaos ensues in the nearby streets. Now, some pros. Because there are some. 1. The pool. Easily the nicest pool area of any apartment building in LA. It has gorgeous landscaping and is an amazing place to hang out. 2. The tenants, some are really great. 3. The front desk is usually good. For the most part they are respectful and helpful. 4. Location. If you like being close to the freeway, then the building will be optimal for you. Now, to my stolen audi. My $150k+ Audi was stolen out of the garage while the gate was open. Property manager was incredibly rude and uncooperative. Wouldn't provide necessary footage for police when they called him (Investigator I spoke with said he had the worst attitude he'd ever seen). When he FINALLY provided us security footage, weeks later, it was blurry and vague. Weird, because there was another camera that he could of used to get us clear footage, in front of the gate. The whole situation was very sketchy... and borderline obstructive. He even had the audacity to refer to it as an "alleged robbery." As if it didn't happen? Or somehow I was in on it? Super strange and sketchy behavior... In conclusion, I would not move here. Just don't. I'm not the only resident who was fed up with the BS happening on a daily basis. Related should be ashamed by this building... it is a total failure. read more

5 days to fix clogged toilet, gate has been broken for months, both elevators broke and one elevator was broke for 3 months. Nobody cleans up in the dog park, poorly managed and over priced ($8300 for a 2 bedroom) manager always on a power trip not qualified for his job (Jason Mcillwain). Raised his voice with me, wouldn't assign parking space when there was an empty spot next to my assigned space. Walmart has a stricter hiring process for their positions at this property. Nobody ever available at the front desk and homeless encampment right outside the garage. read more

It's a sinking ship here. - Everyone worth the fees we pay that used to work here has either left or been let go of- minus 1or 2. One after another. Building's only been open about 3 years. Unbelievable turnover. - Our main (and only) gate wasn't working for the better part of 2 months. Lots of "fluff" about it, but what can you really believe these days? Finally up and running. And ok, we had a "guard" brought in that wasn't always there... -Practically all the main people living here have or are leaving. Sure, maybe some are for betterment, but when you see people you know picking up and moving out, one after the other over several months, it makes you wonder and it starts to add up. - SMOKE-FREE building- NOT SO MUCH! Elevator- smells like pot. Hallway- (I know not just mine) smells like pot. Unit- smells like pot with door/window shut. Balcony- smells like pot. - Dog piss - literal cascade of piss- constantly raining down on your balcony if you're lucky enough to have a dog anywhere above you. Feel sorry for those living several levels below me! - Balconies have no lights and you're not allowed to have lights unless it's building approved, which they won't approve! For half a year we've been told they will purchase lights for us, so far nothing. Put my request in long ago. Probably lost with all the ship jumpers. I swear it's like a dorm here. Can't do anything without a letter being put out about it. - Communal Spaces- yes. Want to reserve a spot for a small get-together? Yes- but only if you pay an exorbitant usage fee! And if there's buyout for filming or something, you're assed out. Nothing comes to you for the inconvenience of not being able to access what you're supposed to be able to access via the fees you pay for rent. It's Hollywood. Filming doesn't happen for free peeps. - The hall to the gym is affectionately known to some here now as the Hall of Snortsville. It sounds like there's a cocaine fest happening.. You can't walk to the gym or library without hearing so much snorting coming out of the main office. It's ridiculous! Can I go on? Yep. I will close by saying do your research before you choose this place. I get it, this is a one of a kind building. That's why I'm still here. I don't know for how much longer as you can tell. Addiction is in many forms. If none of what I wrote affects you, you have nothing to worry about. But if you value your freedom and don't want to live somewhere that's nothing more than a money making opportunity for the owners, look around. There is better value for your dollar- no matter the dollar you make. read more
