My entire family of four had our annual cleanings, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. So far, so good. Things took a turn when one of my daughters needed a filling. We were given an estimated cost based on in-network coverage, which seemed fair. The procedure went well, and I was told she needed an additional service during the visit. I wasn't informed that this would cost extra, but I would have agreed to it if I had known -- transparency is key. What frustrated me was receiving a secondary bill later on for an underpayment. I was surprised because this is supposed to be an in-network dentist. I assumed the costs were pre-negotiated with the insurance provider. Apparently not. While the dental care itself was good, we were left feeling misled and frustrated by the unexpected charges. We've decided to look for a new dentist who is more transparent and upfront about pricing -- especially when claiming to be in-network.

As someone new to dental work outside of a cleaning, more info would've been ideal before being provided the consent form for the procedure. Half the things mentioned here are lies. 1) No one can advance notice of 24 hours if someone catch a cold. 2) These guys didnt even complete the replacement procedure with permanent crown and rused in charging late fee, so cheap. 3) These guys asked me to pay full amount ($740) on May 13th itself when they installed temporary crown. In the below email its a lie they only quoted half the amount. Mistake is on our side for one appointment where i showed in a wrong time, however all the other times there is a genuine reason. Policies should accomodate and be courtious, but not to rip-off customers like this. If doctor is waiting in the room and you dont step in be careful, they might add a late fee for that even such a joke. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Detalied email northlake sent to us : Please see attached documents from your visits related to crown #30. I am including the pre-D, your patient ledger, and the statements from your 2 visits. The pre-D lists a total patient portion of $740. On the date of service, May 13, 2025, half was due ($370). You did not bring your credit card to that appointment, but we told you we could send a payment request that was due at the end of the day by 5pm. That was not paid, so we added a $25 late fee. Your husband came in on May 27th and paid the original $370, but not the fee. On June 4th, there was a missed appointment because you thought your appointment was at 4pm. We charged a $50 fee for that day because it was the third time for a missed appointment. We waived the first 2 fees for you on May 5th and May 27th. Your final appointment was on June 9th. On that day, you paid the other half of the crown ($370), plus the late payment fee ($25), plus the missed appointment fee. ($50). Total on June 9th is $445. Our policy is to notify us at least 24hrs in advance if you need to reschedule. For Monday appointments, the cutoff is 12pm on Friday. You can call us, leave a voicemail, or send us a text. Any time we do not have 24hr notice in one of those ways, there will be a $50 fee added to that appointment. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 469-307-5093. It was difficult to find a dentist that did wisdom teeth extractions without having a surgeon come in. Dr. Lanning was able to do my extraction. It took a lot longer than anticipated, but he was very calm and reassuring. He and his assistant took their time and explained everything each step of the way. I was very nervous but they did everything to make me relaxed. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and in all my years of going to the dentist I have not found one as professional and caring as Dr. Lanning. He called me the day following my extraction just to see how I was doing and if I had questions. He listened to me and did not seemed rushed. I highly recommend this dental office.

I immediately note 2019 ???? I've been going to Vanilla DDS regularly since 2015. During my visit on Wednesday, he showed me a big dark cavity at the base of my tooth, then he said the good news. No root canal needed. However, it does need a crown as the solution. I've been telling them for years that I've had a bad taste in my mouth, and they said nothing about the cavity they knew was growing on tooth 32 since 2019. They left that decaying tooth in the back of my mouth until it needed a $900 crown instead of a $50 filling. I've also had other major work done with them. Not a word. Stay away! Unethical at the minimum, evil at most. I literally don't know what to say. No, I have to add this to my list of ways to avoid being taken advantage of.

Let me start off with the staff. The staff is so very friendly and accommodating to your schedule. They send reminder texts and emails and they give you a reminder card so you can make 100% sure the appointment you make works with your schedule. They also make sure along the way that you are comfortable (as you can be) during your appointment. You are the at the dentist after all. The experience of the cleaning was unexpected. They took these insanely detailed xrays and they refer to those for notes during the cleaning process. They also have a tv directly above you so you can watch TV and stay distracted while they do their work and you can look at your x-rays with them when needed. The cleaning was easy, thorough, and relatively painless. My teeth felt soooo clean afterward. They also recommended a mouth guard for me and told me exactly what was to be expected financially and time-wise. I feel as though I am in the right hands for future care. I'm 100% sure I picked the right dentist. They even sent me a thank you card after my visit. Nice touch :)
