I had two crowns removed due to one being cracked and one having a cavity underneath. The dentist hurt me bad. I left with more pain than when I went. I have a hole under my tongue that hurt so bad I could not eat. I went back the next day and he said it was caused by a bur from his tool. No apology, just said I don't need antibiotics. It's been two weeks and the sore is almost gone. Just waiting for my permanent crowns to come in. Scared to go back. Hope he doesn't hurt me again. read more

Don't go here they seem very willing and friendly but actually do horrible work they don't stand behind to correct their mistakes. I have had periodontal treatments covered thru their membership fees for about 4 yrs now. Every time I went they found more crap to fix even though I was getting treatments q 4 months. They put in 2 crowns and on one they left a ridge that caused me to grind my teeth a lot . I went to new dentist and she fixed their mistake and my jaw pain went away . They said that's why my fillings were falling out. They turn it around on you saying it's ur fault for grinding ur teeth. The last 2 fillings I replaced this past yr weren't agreed on by 2 dentist I saw there. These people are not putting ur best interest over their desire to make more money. I should have never gone to these people. Friendly doesn't trump not knowing what they're doing. I loved them a lot at first until I realized they made a big mess in my mouth. Towards the end when I complained about my night guard not fitting properly they said oh it fits like it should. Oh that's why it kept falling out and causing me frequent headaches from not being able to sleep from my teeth not fitting together properly. The last 2 fillings I got the female dentist got the composite on my other teeth. Do not trust them to keep their word. read more

Everyone at smile workshop was extremely nice. I have never went to a dentist before where everyone was just extremely friendly. I was a bit hesitant at first because of the review I was reading, but I went anyways to see things for myself. They were able to do my cleaning on a Saturday and I was in and out. I would recommend this dentist to anyone in the denton area and I promise you want be disappointed at all. I was SO blessed to have chosen Smile Workshop as my dentist! I hadn't been to the dentist in years (had lost some teeth, broken off some and knew I'd eventually need dentures) and when I discovered that I actually had dental insurance benefits (that would expire at the end of the year) I decided to finally visit a dentist. I walked in (actually rolled in cuz I'm handicapped) expecting to get x-rays, maybe a couple of teeth pulled and a thorough cleaning on the Monday before Thanksgiving. When I left a few hours later, I was missing a dozen teeth. You can guess what I ate for Thanksgiving, Mashed Potatoes! The dentist had explained my situation (in detail) and I agreed that this was the right thing to do (despite the date). He was so professional, yet friendly, and his assistant Val (Valerie) was so comforting it seemed like it was my mother holding my hand during the entire experience. The office staff were extremely helpful before and after coordinating an extremely affordable payment plan for the amount that exceeded my annual benefit limit. I returned a week later to have the remaining teeth pulled and I've been eating a lot more mashed potatoes and soft foods ever since while toughing up my gums prior to actually getting both upper and lower dentures. I'm SO looking forward to eating a juicy steak that I may go to a restaurant, like Qeenie's or Outback! Smile Workshop is making me feel like a man again. Thank You SO Much! read more

Marion Wilson RDH (registered dental hygienist, ) of more than 20+ years, could've been a medical assistant. Her knowledge of dental and oral health, and periodontics, even procedures of the implantology and endodontics side of the practice, made an appointment for routine cleaning far beyond a check up. instead, I was able to leverage Marion's superior knowledge asking questions about dental cleaning products, and if she wasn't certain about an item, or a recommendation, she'd say so, which gained my trust as a patient. Front office staff specifically Cindy handles more than phone more than phone calls and appointments. She's knowledgeable about Insurance and Billing procedures too, and handles patient care for the dual office operation (flowermound and Denton). Dr. Michael Goodwin is the best in the field according to local dentists and recommendations I seek out from residents in my neighborhood and surrounding areas. I highly recommend. read more

They interact with my girls always making us feel comfortable. Not to mention the place is clean and smells cleans . I never wait long to be seen, even if I did I wouldn't mind at all. This is the worst dentistry I've ever been. The staff are smily and will make you feel ready to start your first appointment but then will shock you with the bills. I had to do filling, root canal and crowns. After my first appointment, they said we owe you 152$ because your insurance doesn't cover the root canal. Then on my second appointment, i paid 76$ because the staff just figured what my insurance really covers instead of 152$ which wasn't bad. then i had two temporary crowns and some fillings then they told me i have to pay 259$ dollars more which they didn't tell me at the first place because they weren't sure. I felt really bothered by that and paid the 259$ as they refused to give me my next appointment unless i pay the 269$. After I paid they said that my insurance is out of benefits and I have to pay 680$ for each of my two permanent crowns or i have to wait until next year when i renew my insurance to get the crowns covered :(. I wished they told me about these payments before and now i have to wait 9 months with the temporary crowns which can fall off at any time i eat for 9 more months until next year. I had a tiny sore which is the reason I went to the dentist. They thought it may have just been plaque build-up. At the appointment they told me I had like 4 cavities and needed something like 4 crowns. I have nice teeth and have had issues with cavities as a kid, but nothing major ever. I had them fill two cavities and clean my teeth. Following the appointment, I got the most severe tooth pain in the world in one of the teeth that they drilled and filled for a cavity. I was in such severe pain that there were nights I didn't even sleep and I was crying from the pain. The Good Dentist: My church helped me to get in touch with a good dentist and I went to him and he said the cavity had been drilled so deeply that it was affecting the tooth's nerve. I had to have another week of pain on top of a root canal followed by more pain while I healed from the root canal. I had to take a strong pain killer prescription which I've never ever had to do before. Smile Workshop signed me up for a credit card (Care Credit) with the proposed $2000 of work that they said 'needed' to be done. The second dentist said I only needed the crown for one tooth and to wait on the others. So I called this dentist - Smile Workshop- TWICE to get them to fix the bill so it reflected ONLY the tiny amount of work done. Instead, I continue to get bills for the $2000 of work that was NOT done on my mouth and GE Bank calls me 6-8 times a day trying to harass me into paying a bill that I DO NOT owe. The dentist office, after two calls from me, said they would take care of it and fix the bill to the correct amount. It has not been corrected in over two months. I have never had such a negative experience with a dentist office before. My experience is that Smile Workshop in Denton will tell you that you need more work than needs to be done, not fix your bill to the correct amount, and cause you an endless amount of pain by drilling too deeply in your teeth. read more

I'm very unhappy with our experience this past year at the Denton Smile Workshop concerning my daughter. The office personal advised that I would receive a full refund after they received payment from my insurance and her medicaid, if I allowed them to charge my credit card for dental work on my daughter. My insurance and her medicaid paid the dentist however I did not receive the refund. My daughter also complained of pain in one tooth afterwards. She returned twice to have it looked at and the dentist did not resolve the problem. After several unsuccessful attempts to resolve the refund issue, I contacted the BBB, Better Business Bureau. The Denton Smile Workshop chose to ignore the BBB complaint. My advice about this business: Do not use this company; find another dentist. read more

Patients beware....Due to change in insurance we left the long time family dentist and tried smile workshop. Staff is nice and friendly but we had a very bad experience. We will not be going back. My wife's family has also had bad experiences at this facility. Before having a cleaning I was told that I have nine cavities that will need to be filled. And only a year ago I had x-rays that were fine. I let them know that I would be getting a second opinion. I will re-review again when I get a second opinion. When I got the cost sheet i was told that the insurance would cover 80%. When I looked at the numbers it was closer to 55%. I showed the staff and they admitted that they gave me incorrect information. (but hey if you get the work done you get a free whitening session) After my diagnosis and treatment schedule/fees were presented to me the Dr. did the cleaning. I was not told that the cleaning used cavitron equipment that can cause bleeding of the gums. this was the first painful cleaning I have ever had. There were several bleeding nicks in my gums and I spat blood for a good 5 minutes, and my gums are not overly sensitive. A simple warning would have been nice. They wanted to put sealants and spacers on my stepson same day, we were there for only a cleaning so I said no. The icing on the cake..... While paying the bill in the lobby we heard a child screaming from the back. That will be my last memory of the workshop. My stepson had had some work done here several years ago before we became a family and my wife told me that they had to strap him down and that most of the times she was there she heard screaming and crying. Nice lobby, movies and video games but the screaming and crying of children, taints the pretty environment. Also my stepson had a tooth pulled, and we were told to use motrin. I specifically asked for some pain medication for him. The previous dentist at smile workshop two years ago gave him some pain medication. He had throbbing pain for several hours in the afternoon, just how I wanted to spend my afternoon. read more

Today was my first visit to Smile Workshop, off of Loop 288, in Denton. The office was recommended to me by a neighbor who has been using this dentistry office for over a year. I suppose, that like most people, I am not the most confident individual lying back and having bright lights and sharp instruments invading my oral cavity, but I must say, I was very pleased and satisfied with the care. Front office staff was friendly and engaging. Techs were thorough and mindful of my needs. Hygienist was sensitive to my past experiences and gentle as well and friendly. The Dr.was cordial, compassionate in his approach and reassuring. I will be back for my six month follow up without any reservations. I found it surprisingly shocking to read the few reviews on this site, because I could not imagine this being the same place. In fact, there was a young child coming out of one of the treatment areas with their mother and both were in very good spirits, No babies crying in this office. So reader beware, not all reviews are a true reflection of how a business operates. read more

We decided to try this Dentist office out and have had nothing but problems. They are an in-network provider for our insurance, which covers 100% on regular dental checkups. We have only been there once and a few weeks after our first visit we received an invoice from them for $30.00. It's blank when it comes to a description of services. Doesn't give a date of our visit, nothing...just simply amount owed $30.00. When we reached out to them to figure out what this was for and why our insurance had not covered 100%, we were told to just disregard the bill(what would have happened had we mailed them a check?!?!?). So, we did just that. A few weeks go by and we receive yet another bill exactly like the first one...blank except for Amount Owed: $30.00. We have now tried for 2 weeks to get in touch with their office manager(who is who we are told we need to speak with) and have had no luck. I looked up their corporate number today and called them and have gotten nothing but VM's to every extension I tried. Seems to me this company either is very unorganized or is out to rip people off. I don't recommend anyone visit this dental office at all! I have my annual check up in Oct because it is under my insurance network. First the x-ray procedure hurts so much because the staff was trying so hard to put a plastic angular thing into my mouth and it is too big, I could not bite down, but the staff forces it into my mouth and make my gum in pain! Second, the doctor recommend me having 5 teeth refilled including one of those refilled last year. I don't know why he did that. And they put me in a room waiting over 45 mins! The cleaning and refill process is in pain!! I had done the same thing last year in another dental office, I did not feel such pain at all. After I had the teeth refilled, my gum is very sensitive. I waited for a week, and pain still exists. I went back to do a quick check up, the staff said the refill is too high. Then the dentist came and adjust it. However. since then, my teeth and gum are very sensitive. I feel pain when I chew, I feel numb when I drink anything cold or even room temperature. All I said is this dentist SUCK! And I paid $230 for the service. And I am very dissatisfied. Now I need to find another dentist to fix my teeth again! Avoid this dental office!! Waste money & time & suffering badly!! read more
