Coaches appear to operate from a place of favoritism, showing clear preference for certain athletes, which fosters a stressful and inequitable atmosphere. Their approach can feel less like constructive guidance and more like exercising authority for its own sake--comparable, in terms of rigidity and power dynamics, to being on the receiving end of an unnecessary and demeaning hierarchy.
