Since Archlight closed down I didn't think their was another theatre nearby besides the Chinese theater on Hollywood blvd. I wanted to watch the movie "Everything, Everywhere, All at once." After searching Cinelounge popped up and I was delighted to see it was on Sunset just a block down from the old Archlight. You can purchase a ticket from their site or Fandango. I purchase mine on their site for $17. I opted to walk since it was a nice day but their is parking available or street parking. A security guard unlocks the door for you to enter the building then the theater is on the left. One friendly staff member manages it all! They have gourmet popcorn that I definitely want to try next time. I had a coconut water for $5. The theatre is very small if you are short bring a booster. I had to sit up on my backpack and hoodie after a couple sat on the row with in front of me. It's very clean, the seats aren't the most luxurious but comfy enough. Seemed to be some confusion on seating arrangement. Staff said no assigned seating but when you buy the ticket you choose your seat so idk about what's up with that. Next time I would like to come earlier and find a seat closer to ensure my view won't be obscured.

We so need more of these little boutique theaters! I wanted to catch the limited screening of the epic film Jaçir, which was playing here. I assumed it was a regular theater so when I arrived I was confused haha because it's a typical LA office building. But that's what makes it unique. Inside the first floor of this building is a magical theater lounge! Safety is a priority here because doors open only when the guard on duty inside buzzes you in. It's a small space but understandably so, and you're immediately greeted with a friendly clerk and various movie posters and quality snacks (bougie popcorn and fancy coffee, yes please!). There are two gender neutral restrooms that are well maintained and clean. It's one large theater space with two doors. The theater itself is spacious and comfortable with amazing cushy seats. Unlike typical theaters, no matter where you sit in this one, the architecture is perfect for exquisite viewing. Really loved this place and am trying to find a similar setup in OC to host private viewings!

Apparently, we caught this location of Arena Cinemalounge at a bad time: it was their opening day. ...let that sink in for a second. Yeah, I didn't think that was a good sign either, but their ticket sales are final (a policy made explicitly clear, mind you, so I'm not dinging points for that) so there we were, more or less at peace with the bed we made. And what is this bed, you ask? It's apparently the third (?) of a chain of theaters here in LA. One review on their website states, "Offers one of the most unique moviewatching experiences in town." TIFU by realizing that's never necessarily a good thing. I'm worried about being vague, so, lest I inadvertently slander those other locations, I want to make explicit that I am only directing this strong review to this Sunset location. The best way I can describe it to cinephiles is that it's like, in some ways, a more 'modern' version of The Cinefamily. This one's found in a building's lobby, so consummately downtown though: clean, white/beige, and minimal. Their signage falls in line with that last aesthetic, making it very easy to miss (at night at least). The ticketing lobby is tiny, with their meager concession stand grafted onto it. The employees were great, clearly doing their best for their first day, but, especially with a line of people in that tiny space, it can get pretty cramped just getting your ticket. One of the neat things (depending on your perspective) is that they seemed to wait till most everyone got there before starting their movie. We got their late, but - possibly because a handful of seats were left - they only started playing it about seven to ten minutes after the actual showtime. It was a tiny detail, but it made it feel really intimate, like watching a movie with friends at home. But maybe it feels too intimate because everything about the actual, single auditorium looked like something cobbled together as a last minute location for a screening. Think about screenings in small rooms at some comic conventions and that should get you 95% there. They have 7.1 sound, and I presume they screened a DCP, but that's where the good stuff ends. A little over or under fifty seats is probably generous. The screen is tiny. The seats are "stadium seating," with each row a bit lower than the one behind it, but the difference is it's not big enough to prevent taller people from ruining your view. I mean, jesus - a couple 'choice' seats have a pillar right in front of them, obscuring the view of some unfortunate patrons. Toss in some black curtains all around and that's about it. It just feels like a barebones, DIY sort of thing. The difference between this and the affordable Cinefamily is that the tickets there aren't $16. That's right. For that kind of money, I'd rather walk to the Arclight Hollywood and its gorgeous facilities. If I had known, I would have just seen the movie on VOD at home. I learned the hard way - but you don't have to. Maybe they'll improve and address some of these things (if that's possible for them - I understand some matters may be more challenging to handle than they seem to an outsider), but, for now, I won't be back.

THE MOVIEGOING EXPERIENCE: This movie still hits hard in a packed theater. Lots of reactions and laughs and groans, etc. I was probably laughing the hardest at how much FEET were in this movie. The seats were comfortable and that's judged by my shifting around only two times that I can recall. Thankfully this movie had an intermission to stretch during its 4+ hour runtime. I went during this exclusive December engagement and there's a lot of memorabilia on display in the lobby. There's a lot of snack and food and drink options, and it's pretty reasonably priced. Also, bring your own snacks! No one is checking bags and pockets here and the world is getting pretty expensive. The Vista is in a hip part of town and there's a lot of great eats and drinks in walking distance. We dined at Fred 62 after!

My usual routine is to check for street parking, then check the tiny lot behind the theater, then I usually end up at the $8 church lot. The flip side positive of this is there are so many food and dessert places around for pre or post-show eats. I like that this theater is a bit more cozy than other locations, but honestly it's a normal size when thinking of it as a straight movie theater. I most recently saw Come See Me in The Good Light (an amazing documentary that will shift your perspective on death & grief) with a spirited Q&A with the producers Tig Notaro, Jessica Hargrave & Ryan White centering around poet Andrea Gibbons. I really like coming to Los Feliz's Vintage Cinemas and I'll be back for sure.

The theater itself is above average -- 6/10. The food and alcohol menu gets the same rating, 6/10…read more But what makes this place EXCELLENT is the outstanding customer service. David the concierge is 11/10 -- and I'm not exaggerating. The manager is a solid 9/10. Long story short: we didn't purchase our tickets online and tried buying them in person, but the kiosk showed only one ticket left. Instead of simply saying "sorry, we're full," they went the extra mile. After the movie started at 7 PM, they checked again around 7:15 for any no-shows. There were seats available, so they sold us the tickets and got us in. That level of follow-up and effort is rare these days. If you still believe in going to the movies, don't waste your time anywhere else. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown Los Angeles is the place to go.

There's a good drink and food selection and they usually have a lot to do to reach out to the cinema going community, it's always been a nice vibe. They have had good selections in what to play, but the recent updates to their food ordering is counterintuitive to the original spirit of what Drafthouse was known for. This isn't against the staff, they've always been helpful and courteous as long as you followed their rules. Private equity ruins all good things, which is a shame because Drafthouse was one of the first theater chains to reinvigorate the community to come out to the movies.

Felt like a VIP movie night (with one tiny wrap flaw!)…read more Let me start with a quick parking tip because it's definitely in the fine print: there's "One Garage" literally right next door that offers complimentary 3-hour parking once you get validation from iPic, the only garage to get validated! Sounds amazing... until you show up and it's already full... which was what happened. Our movie started at 6:00 PM, we arrived around 5:20 PM, and the garage was completely closed off -- they weren't letting anyone else in. Luckily, we found parking about 3 minutes away and paid around $5, which honestly wasn't too bad. We came here for the second part of our Valentine's date night and watched Wuthering Heights because hello... Margot Robbie is my favorite girl. I haven't been here in over 15 years and WOW -- I forgot how absolutely beautiful this theater is inside. The lobby is spacious, classy, and honestly feels kind of luxurious. There are pool tables, a full bar area downstairs, and spaces where you can hang out with drinks and good company before your movie. We headed straight into our theater and ordered food from our seats (also... water is complimentary, love that). We were seated in our own little pod -- super intimate with two seats, cozy setup, and yes... a blanket. It truly felt like rich people movie night. Shoutout to our server Jake, who was outstanding from start to finish. Great service, super attentive, and made the experience even better. Food-wise: The Boss Burger ($20.5) was a solid 8.5/10 -- hubby really enjoyed it. Although, there were no pickles or tomatoes in there even though it was in their menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap ($17), and I'll be honest... it was the only downside of the night. It was a bit cold and tough, and the tortilla-to-filling ratio was a little off for me. I'd give it a 6/10. If the tortilla was a bit warmer I'd think it'll be able to hold onto the filling a bit better, but that was meh, for me. BUT the fries? Piping hot, crispy, and delicious. And Jake even brought us ranch, BBQ sauce, and extra ketchup without us having to ask twice. Overall, this was my husband's first time here, and it definitely won't be our last. We had such a great experience -- the ambience, service, and overall vibe were top-tier. Can't wait for our next cozy movie night here!

That said, on my most recent visit, I noticed the theater didn't feel as clean as it has in the past. The elevator carpet in particular could use a deep cleaning and had an unpleasant smell. Hoping this is just a temporary slip, because I've always enjoyed coming here and would love to see it back at its usual standard.
