BayCare Laboratories - July 2021: Typical patient room

Baycare Laboratories & Baycare Urgent Care are one & the same, although Yelp lists them separately…read more GO ELSEWHERE FOR URGENT CARE. (However, the Occupational Specialist here rates higher, which is why I left one star.) I had a 12:45 appt to see the Occupational Therapist regarding additional physical therapy appts under Worker's Comp. What a MESS this location is compared to the North Tampa location! Arrived 15 min early. Stated my name & said that I had an appt w/ the Occupation Specialist (no name mentioned). I was immediately told I was in the incorrect place. Walked out as instructed. Drove around to the other entrance. Took the elevator to Suite 203 (as instructed), where I was told I needed to head back to where I had just left. The friendly staffer phoned the previous office before I departed. The woman who had waited on me misspoke & stated I had provided a doctor's name who works on the 2nd floor. Umm-- N0. I did not. So off I went back down to the original suite. (The young man stated Suite 100 staff regularly send patients upstairs when the patients are actually theirs. Hence, the reason to first check for a patient's name in the computer.) Due to Covid restrictions, management has removed most of the lobby chairs, leaving just 7 CHAIRS in an Urgent Care Center! There IS room for many more chairs even allowing for a 6-foot safety spread-- this is SO unacceptable. Most patients appeared poor. Some were elderly. Many did not arrive in vehicles. Being told to sit in their cars outside was ridiculous. With the Tampa heat, no one should have to stand outside, & even w/ an auto, many here cannot afford to keep the engine running (w/ long waits). I'm not pleased-- shame on St. Joseph's Hospital administration for allowing this! Add more chairs-- there is plenty of room & everyone will be just as safe. The office staff behind the lobby wall was jovial the entire time I waited in a room. I was privy to so much information about their social lives. They were talking loud & laughing-- all of this while those standing in an inadequate lobby (or outside) were somber. Two different & unacceptable worlds here! The doc I was scheduled to see was 55 MINUTES LATE to an appointment that was made for me 4 days prior. Before he arrived, another doc accidentally walked into my patient room looking for his next patient. He realized his mistake and walked back out. NO greeting or smile of any kind! Seriously? Some staffers @ this location need some SERIOUS RETRAINING. The Occupational Specialist was friendly, knowledgeable, & professional, but spent just minutes talking w/ me. I might consider seeing him again regarding therapy, just NOT here under these circumstances. I would never return here if given the choice. Baycare staff never faxed my new PT script to anyone; I learned this only after after my PT told me that I cannot schedule any further visits w/o a new order. After phoning my district Worker's Comp rep, she stated that the district had also received no fax from Baycare. Smh. Now difficult is it to follow up w/ a fax. One has to wonder if this location is so poorly run because the population who regularly uses services here are poor & not seen as worthy of excellent treatment OR if the manager of this facility needs to be retrained or replaced. I seldom give a low review, but Baycare must own this review. Pitiful. Just pitiful. Never again. Note: 9 days later & this facility STILL has not faxed my PT orders to my district office; not faxed my referral to an orthopedic doctor; & not sent my MRI info to anyone. Smh. AVOID!

Latoya is amazing! She stuck me on the first try. No one ever has before! She was friendly and…read morecaring!!
