The "high" rating is because it is an Arco and therefore cheaper than everything else, save the off-brand stuff. Of course you are supporting BP, but don't kid yourself that the other oil companies haven't committed just as grave sins in the rest of the world. I think that Arco is you best buy price wise with out getting the really cheap gas. This gas station is close to my home, right by my local Safeway and I always gas us for my week of mon thru fri work week. $40 almost gets me 3/4 of a tank and gets me thru the whole week. This Arco is on the corner of homestead and keily so the entrance and exit of filling up is not that bad. this place tends to be the cheapest gas in santa clara. one annoying thing about this place is that they have installed tv screens at all of the pumps. so you can't pump in peace, you are being yelled at by someone trying to sell you their convenience store food, or the arco debit card. last time i went here, the little lever on the pump that i used that locks the handle down so you don't have to hold it while filling up was taped down with electrical tape. lame. i hope they fix that. the other pumps didn't have this disability. other than that, it's clean, convenient and quick to use. no major complaints. read more

Don't be fooled by the price advertised. Watch out how much gas they give you for the price. I tried it a couple of times. First time it was about 70 cents left, and I did not have the time to go to the shop and get them. Next time I prepaid $25 in cash and before living noticed the amount of 5 bucks left! Of course, I went back to the shop and the woman with an indifferent face asked me if I wanted my money back or more gas. Of course I wanted gas, I had a plenty of room left in my tank! I was told that the lady inside had asked me to move my car so others could get gas - - - this after I purchased gas and food from her 5 min ago! This place got me so pissed that I'm posting just to let everyone know how rude the guy was at the register inside - and for no reason! I pulled up to a pump, went inside to pay cash because the ATM machines were not working that day. I started pumping my gas and the pump kept switching off. The gas would flow for a few dollars and then click off and it kept doing that. So, I went back inside to tell the guy the pump wasn't working properly and he accused me of not knowing how to pump gas. I told him I've been driving for the past 16 years and during that time I don't think my gas magically appeared in my tank every time - so I'm pretty sure I know how to put gas in my vehicle. I then asked if he could just transfer me over to another pump and he continued to accuse me of not knowing how to pump gas. Up until this point I had not been rude or raised my voice, but after that I stormed out calling him a f***kin a**hole. This guy was a pompous ass, who obviously had a cultural and sexist problem with me being American and female. We don't tolerate that in the USA, so get over it, or go back to your own country. Ironically, a male customer right behind me in line to pay for gas also had an issue with this gas station attendant. As I walked out I could hear him cussing at the attendant left, right, up, down, this,that and the other - he deserved it. I refuse to and will NEVER give this particular gas station my time of day or my money. The only reason that I patronize this place is because it is close to my home. The employees at this AM/PM are not so bright, seriously lack customer service skills and are just plain deceptive. I play the Scratcher game that AM/PM has been running for over a year, and the employees still are give me a difficult time when I redeem more than 1 prize at a time. Only after I "proved" to the employee (his name starts with a K) by showing him the redemption rules off of my phone, that he finally relented and let me claim multiple prizes. The prize value is minimal, but it's the principal that they take what they can get away with. So Scratcher players, you can redeem up to 4 prizes at one time, and don't let K and staff tell you any different. Just have them read the rules again (You can pull up the rules on your phone, but the employees will act like they did not know). Ha! read more
