At the Shell station, there's a store called Rocket (unlike the Shell location on Rosecrans Ave & Inglewood Ave.) You can walk inside and pay for your gas (or outside at the pump), buy some snacks, drinks, buy yourself a few lotto tickets/scratchers, hey you might be lucky. It's very clean and the worker there is friendly. The outside area of the gas station is a bit tight to get into the other side near Inglewood Ave. I recommend driving towards the back part of the Shell station (where Subway is located) if you're trying to get to either side of the station to fill up. If you're entering on the Manhattan Beach Blvd side and you're trying to go to the right part of the station, you won't be able to get through when there's a car parked there filling up. You'd have to go around to the left side. They also have a water/air station nearby. They have 2 different options to fill up: Cash or Credit/Debit. Only difference is Cash payment is about $0.10 cents cheaper. If you want to maximize your gas savings, be sure to shop at Ralph's/Food 4 Less stores and use your rewards card to rack up fuel points and use it towards your next fill up. If you don't have one, sign up for free at the Ralph's/Food 4 Less stores or sign up on the Fuel Rewards program on the Shell website and get savings that way too. Especially since gas prices are expensive in Cali, I make sure to use my fuel points and save. I love the fact that it's super close by to where I live. Very convenient and easy access.

As we all have been noticing, the prices have been creeping up. Today, the price of regular was $5.25 regular and $5.45 premium at Hawthorne Costco. What is surprising is that at Torrance Costco, the gas is $5.19 regular and $5.69 premium. These prices are reflected in the app in real time. Since our vehicles use premium, the Hawthorne location has been consistently lower so far for us.

Hawthorne is located right off the 405 Rosecrans exit going west. The price is better and you can get right back on the 405 south from the signal at the Costco exit. With hours until 10 PM during the week, there's little to no waiting in line to fill up. This is a no brainer for anyone in the South Bay living fairly close to the 405, 110, or 105. Since they always have staff working during business hours, it's a lot safer than a lot of gas stations in Gardena, Lawndale, Hawthorne or nearby areas at night. No people harassing you for spare change or trying to pump gas for you. Credit and membership only eliminates many problems. Plug the gas is Top Tier (high quality like major refineries). $4.69 for regular as of 7/3/26.

So, instead of complaining, people should actually be thanking the owner because the ARCO just down the street on Inglewood Ave & Marine Ave. ONLY accepts Debit. The pumps have recently been updated, they added a lot more lighting, which makes you feel safe if you are ever having to get gas at night. This was the Friday before Memorial Day. I didn't expect a call on the holiday but the next business day. This is not a good way to do business when your car wash caused damage to my vehicle. I will never patronize them again. I will also be following up with the customer service.
