Not familiar with car washes in the area, I found this one on Yelp :) It was conveniently located right off the freeway so off I went for a wash. I wasn't sure how clean my car would get from going through what looked like a very simple and quick "drive through" station but, any amount of improvement was better than nothing! I ran inside, paid for my "quick wash", and was told to enter the number on my receipt at the entrance to the car wash. Simple enough, just how I like it! Drove up to the entrance, dialed the digits on the pin pad and drive into the "dome". It was very quick, aprox 4-5 minutes and viola! Clean car! Well sort of... after the wash, I pulled over to dry my car off and give her a good vacuum. I noticed it still had bird poo on the hood and the back window but, I wasn't surprised. Seems like birds these days have cement doodoo and sometimes it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to get off. The quick wash actually got my car pretty clean and the vacuum was powerful too. Gave enough time for me to vacuum front, back AND the trunk area (only a buck got the whole car vacuumed)! Yeah baby! Nothing better than a clean ride, thanks Thorntons!

Getting in/out at this location can be awful at this intersection. The grounds, pumps - especially the buttons - are filthy, and the interior of the store isn't exactly pristine. It was a stopping point for me many times over the years. Blue Oval is a mini mart at a gas station, but they offer so much more than your standard cashier kiosk. You can find an excellent assortment of booze (they did a fine job catering to the largely student-aged crowd), inner tube rentals during the summer for Sacramento River floating adventures, hot food, a wide variety of general merchandise, and snacks galore. Everything is well-priced, too. They are located directly across from a Walgreens and a Safeway, but certainly have been able to hold their own. I enjoyed how this store was open late. The customer service has always been prompt, and the overall vibe is laid-back - though, don't try to purchase booze with a fake ID as they scan them well.
