This is the worse home project I have ever been involved in, & an all-season porch I had looked forward to, has become a project that I never will be satisfied with. I started/ordered this project the first of Oct, and was told it took about 6 weeks for the EZ Breeze window inserts to arrive, but my project might be done as soon as Christmas. I was sent a link to BuilderTrend to keep track of my project and for communication with the company. My current porch screens were demo'd quickly & the openings measured for the EZB windows. Then the delays & issues began. There were no communications to me (via phone, email, or buildertrend) about any of the delays until I called them in Jan. When workers did show up, they arrived without any advance notice to me. The clean up of the removed materials was inadequate. I had to call several times to get materials cleaned up. When I called in Jan the project manager (PM)seemed to be surprised my job had not been completed, & made an appointment to review the job. So communication within the company is also poor. Shortly after he came to my home to check on it, the EZB windows arrived and were installed. One of the panels arrived in the incorrect size, and had to be re-ordered. (Manf. fault, not Archadeck) This took about another 6 weeks to arrive. The masonry workers came to install my Travertine tile. The workers that arrived spoke very little English & I had problems communicating about what I expected with the install. After contacting my PM, I was assured they understood the scope of the job. Despite having about 4 cartons of tile left over, many of the tiles installed have chipped corners that make them unsightly. They could have easily selected the better looking tiles to use on the floor, or used the chipped ones on the back edges of the porch, but they installed just as they came out of the carton, no inspection as to the quality of the tile. Many of the floor tiles are installed slightly higher or lower than they should be. This floor is by no means level. I have been told this is to be expected in this sort of tile install, and it was not an amount uneven enough to warrant a re-order or re-install. When ordering the tile, the sample of the tile in the showroom did not show any uneven or chipped tiles. Also, the grout used is very uneven and had bubbles in portions of it. Very sloppy looking. The grout was also splashed upon my brick exterior & the lower edges of the EZ Breeze window frames. A damp wipe clean off of this before the grout dried would have remedied this. Now they cannot be cleaned without scratching the frames, and are unable to clean the brick. When I realized the extend of the tile problems I spoke to a PM about the issues & an appointment was set to inspect the job. The masonry foreman (MF) arrived with the PM. The MF informed us that everything was installed correctly and to the "normal" specifications of tile installation. He did agree that I had 1-2 tiles that were sub-par. He said that to correct the tiles that are uneven or chipped, it would cause more damage to the other tiles & would not correct any issues. The PM agreed the tile was not installed to my expectations. We agreed it would not be worth trying to take out individual tiles, it would just cause more damage, and I would just live with it. The masonry crew was to return to my project to work on the grout issues & try to correct those issues. So they arrived to repair the grout, the floor was left very dirty so you cannot inspect the grout until dried & cleaned up. I was the one that mopped/cleaned the tile (not tile workers), but there was very little improvement to the quality of the grout. I was offered $400 to compensate me for not being pleased with the flooring, but considering I paid $4600 for this tile, this was very little compensation, and I do not have the pretty tile floor I felt I was ordering. For the money spent on this project, I know a sub-quality project. So it is May 1 and I will just have to be happy with the project the way it is. There are several pros & cons to the materials that were recommended & I wish I had researched prior to ordering. I wish I had researched the company & get other estimates but I felt this was a reputable company & did not. What a terrible mistake on my part. In summary, this project took over 7 months and I am not pleased with my results. Their communication is terrible. I had to initiate any communication on the status of the project. Clean up of debris was awful, and either I cleaned up or I had to call to get it cleaned up. The window panels are difficult to move up and down. I am told they will get easier to move the more they are used, but that is not like the showroom display. They moved very easily when tested. In the middle of the project, the PM was let go, and a new PM was assigned. I wish I had never called or heard of Archadeck. Avoid this company. read more
