This has been one of the most unprofessional and frustrating housing experiences I have ever witnessed. After 5 months of back-and-forth, paperwork, approvals, and jumping through every hoop required--including a fully signed lease by all parties and housing voucher approval--this property management company canceled the agreement at the very last minute for no legitimate reason. Let that sink in: five months of process, only to be denied housing over attitude and ego. Ms. Harris and Ms. Charity were consistently rude, dismissive, and openly hostile throughout this process. Basic communication--such as simply asking how much was due at move-in--was treated as an inconvenience. Instead of acting professionally, they responded with irritation and ultimately used that as justification to cancel a legally executed agreement. This is not just poor customer service--this is a complete failure of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect. People are depending on housing, and to drag someone through a months-long process just to pull the rug out at the end is beyond unacceptable. If you value your time, your stability, and being treated with basic decency, do not put yourself in a position to rely on this management. i want to leave an EXCELLENT review of the Arcade Apartments, as I recently did an Absolutely Amazing tour with Terrill, as our guide. it was so wonderful learning about the beautiful history of the building itself. There is so much to offer and the variety of floor plans/living space options is like none Ive seen before. The multitude of amenities are very unique from the studio spaces for creative artistry of all genres to the breathtaking views and fun, relaxing optics on the rooftop! This is a timeless property and I am so glad to have toured here! Terrill was an Awesome guide, taking extra time to explain and show many facets of the history of the building and the changes it's gone through over the years, as well as detailed explanations of each amenity - and there are Plenty! There's a space that caters to everyone's interest. From the outside, you'd never know the beauty that exists inside. As a visitor dealing with the office staff, is very off putting. The staff doesn't return calls, or respond to emails or faxes. Ms. Charity is condescending, unprofessional and impatient with her dialogue. Pest control needs to be improved. The building and apartments are really nice. read more

I tried to apply for an artist unit and they canceled my application took my $300 security deposit and gave me a very hard time during the application process. Told me I had nothing to worry about and continued to give me the run arounds for a whole year straight. This is a low income/student housing building that is shared with Webster University but welcomes anyone. They cannot retain occupants or staff. It was new management when i moved in and now there's new management since ive moved out. quality of living here is not worth what you pay/experience especially considering they increased rent! My base went from 1105 to about 1505. car break ins, shootings, and homelessness are very evident. The change of management was still very uninvolved/unresponsive in my experience. Ive called more recently to inquire about my security deposit ( which it had been 3 months since move out and I hadnt received any update on it) The older reviews you see about great staff are no longer there. I was told on my tour it takes 48 hours for maintenance to respond to request, false. there's maybe 1-3 maintenance men. i lived with a broken garbage disposal and backed up tub/sink for a month just because they never came. I am not exaggerating when I say this place is so unclean, you never know what bodily fluid you're stepping in when walking around. On several occasions I've seen vomit, dog urine, and even salvia in the elevators. More times than I should! Its very unflattering and disturbing to constantly have to avoid walking in dog urine inside of your apartment community and even right outside of my front door!!!!! The fluids usually sat there until the next morning when maintenance can clean it up. They just put down a wet floor sign. The floors are always sticky and dirty. It just feels like an icky place, this is what makes me most uncomfortable. I could live with everything else if the place wasn't so trifling. Im embarrassed just to invite friends over unsure of what could possibly be in the elevators when i first moved in and until move out the water pressure/temperature was inconsistent. The air system is questionable. I would have it on 78 and it would still be freezing, in the spring time not winter. Police and firetrucks frequent the area. Always blocking off streets so there is usually traffic in front of the building. Car break ins and shootings are frequent around the area so the 175$ underground parking is a MUST to have. It does what it needs to do however, its a 100+ yr old building so it looks like it's falling apart. The spots are very tight. If someone parks in your spot, oh well, they don't actually enforce towing rather security will just load up stickers on your window if you dont move and quite frankly a tow truck wouldnt fit inside the garage. There is a vacuuming and power washing station, so that's nice. The elevators are very slow and frequently break. For a 19 floor building to only have 1 elevator operational often will have you waiting 10 mins just to get up from the garage or leave. The sign that says smoke free in the lobby, is blatant false advertising & they are aware of the extent of the smoking use. They do not take extra efforts to ensure that it is. So that sign needs to be removed. You will find cigarette butts, cartons, and joint butts in the building. The smell is also a dead giveaway they entered units atleast 7x in one year and not for maintenance reasons i needed a key & front office door was locked per usual during business hours, the staff crawled/hid under the desk until i left, I waited a while, knocked, tried to enter all doors and finally called and left a VM letting her know that I saw her. i told them several times about rude vandalism written on my door, which they've seen because they put letters and even false/accidental eviction notices on my door meant for someone else. Nothing was ever done about it. Doors in the lobby are open often, as they dont work properly so anyone can still enter and come in whenever someone comes off the elevator. I believe after a shooting downtown occurred they started to utilize their security practices more pre-cautiously. So security keeps the doors locked or sits at the front entrance if the door isn't working correctly, but not always of course. The rooftop water feature u see in the pics actually look like a dirty mud pond ALL year round, hopefully they will make efforts to keep it clean after this review. Arcade does have great amenities but you cant enjoy them because of lack of upkeep or they're usually broken. read more

We stayed in a condo here during a visit to St. Louis and the location is perfect. It's in the middle of downtown, near The Arch with ample garage and metered street parking to load and unload your vehicle. I loved the view from floor 16 and found myself just staring out the window often. The layout of the space was nuce with an open floor plan. At night, it was beautiful turning all of the lights out and just letting the light from the nearby buildings shine in. The hallways were clean and I felt secure with the locked entryways and elevators. I can't speak to the type of management this place has since my stay was temporary and I'm not the renter. read more

LONG POST... and I still don't have everything in this post that happened while I was here. I have been gone for about 6 months now. This is about my stay here from mid 2020-21 If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Let's start off by me applying for a 2 bed/ 2 bath apartment loft. Well a few weeks before my set date to move in I was informed that the apartment I was due to move in was still occupied by the previous tenant and they wouldn't be moving because of covid. Ummm well since I had already put in my notice where I was living this put me in a complete bind and I had to move into a 1 bed 1bath. My move in date comes and as soon as we walked through the door we could smell smoke. I said nothing for the first week hoping that this would subside but it didn't. I went to the office and complained and obviously they knew about this because the manager at the time said they had been trying to get him out for the last year. They told me to just keep coming down to fill out complaints. The ventilation system sucks! After what seemed like a million complaints I finally got a call about 6 months later that they had a 2 bed/2 bath that I could transfer to...oh, did I mention my neighbor that smoked daily and was often found lying out in the hallway was found dead in his apartment a few days before I was set to move. I found this out because there was a police officer stationed outside of his door for hours and I asked him what was going on and he told me. Ok moving on along... I was given a moving date and I was all packed up and ready to go and then I get a call that the apartment wasn't ready. Okayyy so when will it be ready? The office assistant started getting an attitude w me because I needed answers. Mind you I was packed up! After no resolutions from the management at arcade apartments I decided to do some research and reached the head office in Minnesota. After pleading my case to the receptionist in Minnesota she gave me the head persons email. Problem resolved and I received a phone call and was moved in within a few days and i also received parking underground. Ahhhh finally some peace...NOPE! How would you feel if a couple of months after moving in you come home to see blowers all through your apartment and the baseboards ripped up on one side of the wall. Well this is what I came home to one evening. Mad is not the word for how I was feeling. I went down to the office the next day for them to say that they called and spoke with me and that I told them that I was out of town and that they could come into my apartment. This was an absolute lie. I never received a call and I was nowhere out of town..I was down the highway at work! There was no note on my door or kitchen counter even stating that they had been there and what was going on. I once again had to call / email the head people in Minnesota. I also have a dog that luckily wasn't home that day! And to top it off there was no major water leak like they claimed. Fast forward a few months later. I leave to go walk my dog. I passed the manager Shannon in the hallway walking with a man, I get to the elevator and something told me to turn back around and go back to my apartment. Well who's in my apartment. Shannon and this man. My daughter is standing in the hallway looking alarmed. She said she was putting on her shirt and heard a knock at the door before she could come and open it..Shannon unlocked the door and came in with this inspection guy. This is the middle of covid and he has no mask or shoe covers on. I asked them what was going on and she said that he was there to do an inspection of the apartment and that she had emailed me. Ummm No you did not. I turn to the guy and asked him to please put on a mask and he said he don't put a mask on for nobody. His exact words... and he then preceded to walk throughout my apartment. Yes I'm for real and I can't make this up even if I tried. Needless to say I am beyond steaming. Shannon then says to me that there's nothing she can do and this was for my own good to make sure my apartment was in safe condition with the city. I call corporate again and complained. I eventually spoke with Shannon several days later and that's when she admitted that she forgot to hit send on the email. Could it get worse...yes!! Let's talk about the throw up on the walls. The trash cans in the underground parking garage that were spilling over with trash. The security guards that just sat at the desk and ate Chinese food throughout the day and night. The 4th of July was an absolute mess.. People running throughout the hallways all night. Unauthorized parties on the rooftop..shooting outside. When I went to the office the next morning they informed me that they were letting anyone out of their lease that wanted to leave because of the insane mess that took place on the fourth. Needless to say I'm out of there and I have never been so happy! Don't walk past this place...run ‍ read more

We took a tour, fell in love. We moved in, fell even more in love. We're not artists - I work in finance, my partner is a biologist. But we love the art-focused community here. There have been no unfortunate surprises since we moved in - place is clean, appliances and carpet are brand new on move in, none of the smoke smell we found in a lot of places we toured, and it's QUIET. We have had ZERO bumps in the night, sounds from our neighbors, even sounds from the street! They did something really good to soundproof the place because you'd think the complex was empty if you didn't know there's only one room that's not already occupied. If you can get a room here, take it! Best place downtown by far. read more

We applied for an artist's apartment at the gorgeous Arcade a few weeks back. The apartments themselves are everything you imagine and read from the reviews, and more. They are spacious, with excellent appliances, and well maintained amenities. The interiors of the building are tastefully decorated and smell like the inside of a 5 star hotel. If that's not all, if you qualify as an artist with low income, the price is an absolute steal (we were offered a 1BR for $705). As you can imagine, we took one look and knew we wanted this as soon as possible. But that was the end of our dream journey into Arcade. The online application is riddled with IT errors (we returned a 2nd time to get the property manager's help to complete it, but no luck!). The application fee is $55 per occupant, yet the online application will not allow you to pay for more than 1 applicant, which means you have to issue a cashier's check separately to complete the application (that's visit #3). To top it off, we were then told the online application isn't enough, and we must fill out another set of applications manually and in person. The background checks followed, and here's where they really pushed us to our limits. We applied to the income restricted apartment, with my girlfriend transitioning from one job to another. Arcade called both employers, and then added both incomes, and rejected us as being over the income limit. When we called (over and over again) asking for an explanation, they blamed "the law", but never mentioned which specific statute requires tabulating income from a job that one is about to quit. At that moment, the manager tactfully pushed us onto a $950 apartment, for which we had to put in an additional $200 as security to confirm. We provisionally accepted (not knowing where else to go given our current lease running out in a month) but without committing the additional security till we were absolutely sure. Once we were certain we had other options, we called to cancel and asked for our security back for the apartment they had rejected us on (as per terms specified on their application), but the manager rudely informed us that we wouldn't get that money back. In summary, at the end of 4 visits and at least 20 phone calls, we are $410 poorer and still searching for an apartment. Thank you Arcade, for pinching money from honest customers. I guess this is the only way you can push people to take up more expensive apartments. read more

I applied for an apartment about 3 weeks ago almost a month. They just called me yesterday (the first call i have ever received from them. i've been the one calling and emailing etc.) and told me they needed my paystubs. I gave Shaelyn a physical copy of both my paystubs because i have 2 jobs. I also emailed a copy to Ashley, the manager, and some girl who doesn't even work in that office told me they needed them again. That would've been my THIRD time giving them my paystubs, don't lose my shit. They moved my move in date 4 times, just running me around needed this and that corrected. almsot a month? for you to tell me i make too much money? they could've told me that the FIRST time they ran my paystubs. During these weeks that they've be pushing me off, i could've been in a whole ass house, not even apartment. i could've been SETTLED IN SOMEWHERE. waste of time, money, and energy. ashley and shaelyn were telling me one thing while they knew i wasn't going to get moved in. don't waste your time. We wanted to love this place. It is in a great location, across the street from a MetroLink and the Culinaria not to mention incredible restaurants. Jenny and Arnela in the Front Office have been phenomenal through the insanity of the building issues. Their spirit and professionalism cannot overcome the problems with this building. In 13 months of living here we have had numerous problems however I will limit it to the water (temperature and pressure), HVAC, elevators and maintenance response. The water temperature has been warm (102-104 degrees), not hot (above 110). To be fair, sometimes there is hot water, about 30% of the time, however it takes 2-3 minutes for it to get above 100 degrees. About 70% of the time there is water pressure, that number has been increasing. The temperature and pressure issues are dependent on the time of day. We are early risers and had issues, so imagine during peak times? The four elevators have rarely all worked at the same time. Yesterday, none of them worked and we live on the 18th floor. On the elevator last night, there were 6 of us and someone commented their dream was to have all the elevators work for an entire week straight. The 18th floor has 2-story lofts. The HVAC unit is the same as the 1400 SQ FT one level apartments on lower floors. Because of 20 foot ceilings, the cubic footage far exceeds the one floor apartments. With 110 degree summers, the HVAC can't cool off the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. We have a North facing apartment, imagine if we had direct sun? The answer from maintenance is often "we are working on it." Maintenance work orders are randomly closed with the problem still existing. There are numerous problems and issues with the building so I am sure they are overwhelmed and have trouble keeping track of everything. The maintenance people are nice, especially Austin, but they are overworked. Even though moving is painful, we are moving! There will eventually be much less pain and more hot water by getting out of the building. Good luck Austin, Jenny and Arnela! read more

Security door and the exterior door (both of which need a key FOB to enter) were both broken more often than not during my year there. Place reeks of weed. Loud music plays at all hours of the night. All of the agents (save for 1) were completely inept and didn't know what they were doing. They tried to raise our rent after 3 months even though we had a lease. Security half the time isn't at their desk, and chances are when they are, they're sitting there with 3 or 4 of their friends hanging out. And to top it all off, getting our deposit back is proving to be a huge nuisance. We moved out 2 months ago and only just got the check. Turns out even though we left a forwarding address, they just put it in our mailbox at the apartment we moved out of. Tell me how that makes sense. Prior to moving out they had the wrong move out date on their forms and I had to tell them to change it 3 times. I suspect that was on purpose to give them a reason to not issue our deposit. Now because my former roommate is still in the area, and I moved out of state, they won't let him cash the check because both our names are on it. Management said they can "put in a request with corporate" to have separate checks be issued but they can't promise they it'll happen, and if it does, it'll be another month before we get it. My roommate tried to cash the check at a check cashing place when the bank wouldn't do it and was told the check was fraudulent!? Stay away from Arcade and Dominium Management. read more
