We have been going to this office for 4 years and have family members who have gone for 9 years. This office has gone so incredibly downhill since switching over to Arbor. We've been ignoring it because they are close and easy to get same day appointments. We had an appointment today at 3:30. The waiting room was packed and I overheard parents saying they were there to see the same doctor. I asked the front desk staff if they were behind (15 minutes after my scheduled appointment) and was notified the doctor still had 3 patients in front of us. I asked the front desk why they didn't call people to tell them that they were so far behind, and she said they didn't know. You don't get delayed THREE appointments that quickly. They also failed to tell me when I checked in for the appointment. Do better. We shouldn't have to juggle kids in your waiting room (especially ones who are very anxious for scheduled vaccines) because you are running behind and don't tell anyone. Pure insanity. We will be looking for a new pediatrician after today. read more

We've been going to this clinic for a couple of years, and up until now, our experiences have been generally okay. However, our most recent visit made me seriously consider finding a new clinic. During this visit, I was informed there was an issue with our insurance. I provided the current insurance card and a reference number from our insurance company at the front desk, and was asked to wait in another room. When the nurse came to bring us in, I asked if the insurance issue had been resolved. At that point, a staff member at the front office abruptly responded, "That's why I asked you if you wanted to pay out of pocket for today!"--in a noticeably rude tone. It's disappointing that one unpleasant interaction can overshadow the efforts of the many kind and professional staff members we've encountered in the past. I understand that, to some staff members, we may be seen as "patients" and not "customers," but basic respect and kindness should still apply. I genuinely hope this individual can take to heart the simple principle of treating others the way they would want to be treated. read more

Our life long pediatrician let us know she was retiring after the beginning of the new year. Devastating news to us! We love her and she's been wonderful with our 9 year old grandson..he's had plenty of medical concerns throughout the years and she's been there the whole time! We began In searching for a new pediatrician immediately, and decided on DSP. From the very beginning (initial phone call)they have been professional, caring, warm, friendly and extremely helpful. We had to go in for a sick visit on a Saturday for our first visit. Dr Patel and staff were wonderful!! She was so warm and caring with our grandson..after we left he said "Gaga I liked her". I called to make my daughter an appointment today because she is sick and was informed that Desert Sun Pediatrics had been bought out by another company And would no longer take our insurance. Zero warning, zero Grace period. Now I am left scrambling with a sick child and no doctor. I've been bringing my kiddos here for about 12 years now. Care has been good we really like Dr Patel. Can't say anything bad about our service in the back. Front desk is a different situation. Took my son yesterday for a sick visit. They were recently bought out and have a new policy where they want to collect full price of your visit at the time of visit even though I have insurance with a $25 copay. I had to insist that they double check and it wasn't until I said we were going elsewhere (I can go to urgent care for $75 & they wanted to charge me $110) that they finally verified my insurance & discovered that I do indeed have a $25 copay. Dr & PA's are great; just make sure you know what your copay is and be ready to insist upon it here. read more

The pros: Nice location, scheduling more flexible than not, clean facility that's kid friendly, I never had any billing errors The cons: Receptionists aren't professional (They've told me to come on in before w/o getting ANY of my info and I called back once I realized the error to assure my daughter was seen. They don't greet you or your child. They don't notice you leaving and let you know if you need to pay or ask if you'd like to schedule next appt.) The doctors and nurses aren't personable. They never say hi to my child or make eye contact and speak to her. The one nurse we usually see for vaccines always looks miserable and is never comforting or friendly in any way. I've been told a few times how I should be raising my child differently instead of them offering suggestions and giving praise for her being happy/healthy. Will be looking for a new pediatrician that actually cares about my child and her individual needs. read more

Let me tell you if I can give this place a 0 start I would definitely do it. The worst pediatric place ever. The office Manager things she is the President of the world she don't answer any of your calls or emails and the staff is extremely rude, and the doctors are so not professional and educated on how to communicate with the little kids.. You go here to do your children physical and they don't check anything they only ask " did you eat your fruits and veggies? Did you limit your screen time? Did you do your daily activities? Give me a break you need to a check -up on the whole body to make sure everything is well and developing properly with Kids. I Made a mistake coming here. I kept telling the doctor to look at my sons back every time I went every year I went to do a physical she said it's good it's no problem and this last visit, she said oh yeah your son is having a little hunchback seriously I've been telling you that for the past two years, you just ignored me because they don't care that so they only want you to go there. to do different experiments and tell you this and that and then bill your insurance and also take money from you and they don't provide the service they don't give you the proper answers, they don't give the proper care. HORRIBLE!!! I went with my sister with her baby to see the PA. The medical Assistant wrote the wrong weight in the chart. They never double checked the weight and based her medication dose with the WRONG WEIGHT. My sister is a nurse and before she gave the meds she said something is wrong. Took forever for a phone call back... then they finally noticed they wrote the wrong weight. They almost over dosed my three month old niece. I'm going to look into calling someone higher for DRs. She has bad bed side manners also! When leaving the room all she said was bye and didn't even say bye to the baby or anything. Found a new place in May!! Thank god! It's called Agave !!! Look into this place !! The PA really needs to find another job and not be working with kids! PS we have had other problems with the PA. That's the reason why my sister brought me because I speak up. read more

We have been going to Desert Sun Pedi's since we moved to Cave Creek in 2017 and absolutely love it! Their practice came recommended by all of our friends who go there! I have four children all 5 and under including one with Special Needs and Dr. Rampley has been amazing with them. She always has something new to talk to me about regarding my children's health. And she always has time to talk about my concerns and has different ideas to try. Their staff is always easy to work with and my kids love going to their office. And if for some reason we can't see Dr. Rampley, Dr. Patel is great to work with too. We had been with another big practice before we moved and I can honestly say Desert Sun is far better in so many ways! read more

Some providers are better than others, especially when it comes to bedside manner. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Binita Patel. The front office is in need of help. They have communicated information incorrectly and are not timely when it comes to return phone calls. My recent experience has prompted me to write this review. I have taken my children regularly to the physician especially since both of my sons played high school sports and an annual physical is required. When I took my son in about a month ago the doctor informed me that he was missing a couple of vaccines that was supposed to be given at age 16. I found this hard to believe since we were there last year. Even before I made the appointment I asked the receptionist if he needed any vaccines and she said he would not be eligible until he was 18 (wrong!). I told her we needed to come in anyways because of the physical that was required for sports. So imagine my surprise when the doctor says he missed his doses. This created a lot of concern as my son is headed to college early in the summer and they require 2 doses of a particular vaccine, but they have to be administered at least 6 months apart. Later, I looked at my files at home and found the well check paper from the previous year showing that he had the two vaccines. So now I firmly believe that they did not record his vaccination in their records and that he got double dosed on one of the vaccines. When I called the office they could not give me a straight answer and then made it sound like they may have checked the boxes on the paper, but that doesn't necessarily mean they gave him the vaccine! Why wouldn't they if he was the appropriate age??? The response was - maybe we ran out! Even if that was they case, shouldn't they have contacted me when they got more vaccines in stock? None of this is convincing. I am still waiting on a call back from the office and I am pretty sure they will never be able to give me an explanation of what happened. Bottom line - if you decide to go to this office make sure you are on top of your own records and do not rely on them for appointment reminders for vaccinations. P.S. - it's been over a week and the office never called me back for an explanation. I have downgraded them to two stars. I would not want this to happen to anyone else. read more

My wife and I have been taking our son and daughter to Desert Sun Pediatrics for nearly 6 years now. Today will be the last time we take our children to this office. Office personnel was terrible. Dr. Delucca was unprofessional. We normally take our son to Dr. Patel but was asked to start seeing Dr. Delucca. Because of his terrible assessment and the way his unprofessionalism was we will not be back to this office again. We asked our son if he liked the doctor, his answer brought us to our conclusion that we will not return. What grabbed my attention is that my son is usually friendly and talkative. I noticed he did not want to even talk with this doctor. When we told the doctor the problem it's as if he didn't hear a word we said and, proceeded to make up a report that wasn't even true. Terrible experience both with the doctor and in office. read more

The doctors are nice enough but their billing practices are shady. They sent us a bill for $120. I paid it and 3 weeks later they adjusted the bill to $110. We overpaid $10. Our frustration is about principle. We've been trying to get our money back and every time we do we get a run around. Our insurance company said this office was trying to bill them for all sorts of extra things that they shouldn't have. We would never go back. If you chose this office I would make sure you double and triple check your bill. Once you pay you'll never get your money back. Buyer beware! read more

I am absolutely appalled by this office! They tried to overdose my baby girl! I took her to the doctor earlier this week, due to her projectile vomiting (mostly caused by her pepcid no longer being effective because she gained weight). She is currently on 0.5mL once a day at night. This was increased March 16th when she weighed 9lbs 8oz. She is now 10lbs 11oz (which I saw with my own 2 eyes when she was weighed) and they increased her dose to 0.4mL twice a day; meaning she's getting 0.8mL daily instead of 0.5mL. This seemed like a very large increase so I went back and looked at the progress note written by the PA and medical assistant, and they put her weight in as 12lbs 9oz!! So they were basing the dosing off of that weight which is very incorrect. I weighed her again at home and she was 10lbs 11oz and then on Saturday I took her to urgent care for her infected eye, and they weighed her as 10lbs 9oz. There is no way in 3 days (Saturday to Tuesday) did she gain 2lbs! So I called to tell them on Wednesday morning as I was getting ready to give my daughter her new dosage, and they called me back today (one whole day later). It took them a day to figure this out. They told me "the doctor said it's the correct dose." I said "for 10lbs 11oz?" They said "no for 12lbs 9oz." But that's not her correct weight! So the receptionist puts me on hold, goes back to the PA, and now they decide to change it to 0.3mL twice a day, making it 0.6mL daily, which is correct! I mean come on! Some parents wouldn't know to check the weight and dosage (I am a pediatric nurse)! They could have seriously overdosed my little girl! Needless to say, she's going to a new doctor in May for her 4 month check up. That's the earliest opening they had. She will be going to Agave Pediatrics, who I have already had an amazing experience with, as my daughter had her tongue and lip ties released by them. I do have to say Dr. Horlick is amazing. She is the only doctor in this practice, that my daughter has seen, that has a good bedside manner and knows what she is doing. Stephanie, the PA, on the other hand, is a very different story. Also, be very careful with what they are putting in your child's records. My advice is to never go to Desert Sun Pediatrics! I have had the worst time with them and cannot wait for my daughter to be treated as the sweet 3 month old baby that she is! read more

My son had his circumcision done here by Dr Nancy Horlick at two weeks old as recommended. I know they say they aren't always perfect but when we saw It did not look right to my husband or I at all, we took him back a few times a couple months then a year later saying it doesn't look right to us but we were reassured every time that it was good and he would "grow into it." Now 4 years later it still doesn't look right so I took him to a neurologist who told me it was not done right and no he won't grow into it. We are more upset that they didn't say to have a specialist look at it then when he was little but now he is getting surgery at 4 years old to fix it! I am so very heart broken and upset that this happened to my little boy as we went back several times to make sure he did not have to go through a surgery at this age. read more

Not sure the office can handle the number of patients they have. Wait times over the years have always been long but they have now increased too much for me. I almost always have to wait on hold for 10+ minutes when calling and I've never been seen promptly when coming into the office. The online system is a complete joke for scheduling as it's really a email chain through a secure system in which it takes days to get a response. Often times the staff makes me feel like I am putting them out and they don't care if I ever come back. I have been pushed over the edge as I have now waited twice for 40 minutes for a shot-only morning APPOINTMENT... not a walk in but a scheduled time. I totally understand running late but that should be an exception not the norm. As a family with two working parents, we need a location who can respect our time also. This rating is an average between the two but I wish I could provide a rating for the doctors and the office separately. The office would get 2 stars and the Drs would get 4.50 (I would say 5 stars if they offered a follow-up call after a sick visit to check-in.) Dr. DeLucca and Dr. Patel are great but Dr. Rampley is our favorite. The others do also but you can tell Dr. Rampley really likes working with kids. I respect her opinion as a mom and as a doctor as she is genuine and a joy to talk to. Not sure if the location convince and how I feel about the doctors will trump the consistently bad experience with the office. read more

They are awesome here. No complaints at all, all good! Every time we need to schedule an appointment it is within the next day to week of calling. They have separate sick and healthy rooms to check your kids in and the toys are always clean. TV's are on the wall showing kid movies which keeps them entertained during the wait. Kids are always comfortable in the exam room. The office is well decorated and the staff is awesome! Dr. Rampley is always happy to answer all of our questions and doesn't rush us out. read more

We moved our elementary school aged kids to Desert Sun's practice in 2017, after having been with the same pediatrician we loved since our first was a new baby in 2007. I really, REALLY liked our previous pediatrician - so much so that we drove from far, far north Scottsdale to see her at Phoenix Children's for those ten years. And as parents know, babies, toddlers, and little kids are at the pediatrician a lot. ;) She was worth the drive, but after 10 years, she and her family moved out of state and we were forced to either see a new ped there or find another practice. We took the opportunity to finally find a practice closer to home and we became patients at Desert Sun following the recommendations of a few friends and truly, I don't think you could find a better pediatric practice. Our pediatrician is Dr. Rampley and she is just a phenomenal physician. She is a mom herself and is very practical. Her knowledge is up to date, she listens well, she asks important questions, and perhaps most importantly, she is an advocate for her patients. One of my children has some conditions that require regular visits and are lifelong and she never forgets a thing. She always picks right back up like no time has passed and knows every detail. I am certain she is the same with all of her patients. We have seen other peds in the practice for sick visits when Dr. Rampley has been unavailable and they were also great. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the doctors. If you have a pressing issue over the weekend or after hours - all hours - you can call the practice and talk to the on-call doctor. They always have last minute sick visits available as well as Saturday hours. We just left another appointment where she solved an insurance issue for an important prescription and where she stated her commitment to advocate for my son in a significant setting and it reminded me to finally come leave a review. I have high standards with doctors due to my own health challenges and extensive collection of specialists that I see all of the time. Dr. Rampley exceeds all of my expectations, as does the practice. read more

Love this ped office. The Dr's are all friendly and that staff does their best to accommodate my childrens needs. The nursing staff is wonderful with follow through and follow up when you child is in need. Love that they are open on Saturday! We followed our Doctor-Dr Amy Rampley when she moved to this practice and have been happy ever since, which is going on 8 years now. If my kids are sick they make sure they can see them. When I daughter was having a lot of medical and emotional issues the staff was supportive and loving making sure our needs were met both as a parent and as a patient! We moved to AZ just over 3 years ago and finding a new pediatrician was not something we were looking forward to. But, we completely lucked out! The doctors and front office staff at Desert Sun Pediatrics is fantastic! My son has respiratory issues so we're in there a lot. They truly care about my kids and my family. Dr. Rampley and Dr. Horlick are FANTASTIC! I couldn't ask for better care for my kiddos. It is truly personalized care for each kid. We are so lucky to have them! read more

Please learn from my mistakes (and my other mommy friends!) This place is AWFUL! A few of the doctors are big vaccine drug pushers (yes, my kids are vaccinated) however the nurses and staff are not even nice human beings! They all need to take courses in how to treat parents and children with kindness and respect. I have 3 kids and went there for almost 8 years and I kept hoping it would get better, the staff, the doctors, the wait times etc. But it NEVER DID!!! There are things being done here that are just unethical. Do your research! The doctors may be good but seriously they are not good enough to be treated the way you will be treated as a patient or a parent!! Beware! read more

I looked up their address using maps to fill out some paperwork & saw their rating was low. What?! We LOVE this place. Here's why: They get us in to a room & seen quickly. We can call on short notice & be seen promptly. The ladies that run the paperwork/front desk are easy to deal with. All the doctors we've seen on short notice appointments have been just as caring as our preferred Doctor. Visits are thorough and dialogue is encouraged. They don't jump to pumping meds in the kiddo right away if they believe their own body will take care of it. They promptly respond to questions left via voicemail. The dr on call even promptly responded to midnight crisis phone call when we had newborn. What else could u ask for?! read more

I was impressed with this office when I first started taking my children here, but for the last couple of years I've Had nothing but bad service from the office staff and the doctors rushing us in and out. It also takes months to be seen for a well check up. If my child's birthdate is in Jan. I expect to be seen that month not the end of Feb. beginning of March. I have been taking my son to Desert Sun Pediatrics since 2012. I have never had a bad experience. I am usually there 4-5 times per year for med checks and wellness checks. They have been very accommodating and easy to get in when he has an unexpected illness. They have been extremely thorough and given lots of attention to my concerns. We have been exposed to a variety of doctor's and they have all been great. I really appreciate being able to renew medications online and send email correspondence to PCP's and nursing staff from their online website. No bad experiences. Overall, it is a wonderful clinic with attentive staff. I highly recommend without reservation. read more

Great office and staff. We have been seeing Dr. Rampley for almost 5 years now and love her! She is great with all 3 of my kiddos and knows her stuff. She never talks down to me or makes me feel like what I am doing is wrong. I love that when I call after hours I get an actual Doctor not a machine. I also like that they have one office and that I do not need to worry my Dr. will not be in the office and I would need to travel to another office if something were to arise. For sick visits I have always been able to get in that day, usually within a couple hours of my call, which when you have a sick kid and feel lost is great! I highly recommend this practice to those looking for a pediatrician. read more

Very disappointed in this office. Been going to Desert Sun for over 3 years and have always had a good experience. Brought our newborn daughter in for her first appointment, arrived 10 minutes early as instructed. As we waited in the waiting area, overheard the receptionist answer a phone call with "can you please hold" and then she proceeded to chit chat with a nurse, nothing about work, just casual talk. A few minutes passed and she re answered the phone. We were called back 45 minutes after our appointment time, and then waited ANOTHER 20 minutes in the room before seeing the doctor. So we were at the office waiting for an hour and 15 min. Totally unacceptable especially with a newborn baby in a germ filled doctors office. We called a new pediatrician the minute we left and we will not be back! read more
