I cannot recommend Phoenix Children's to anyone after our experience with their billing office. After sending our kids here for several years, Phoenix Children's dropped our insurance carrier and DID NOT NOTIFY US. So we brought both kids in for what should be $0 out of pocket costs for checkups, and instead we've been billed NEARLY $800 by Phoenix Children's for services that should have costs us $0. I would not trust them ever again. We have found new pediatricians. But Phoenix Children's has refused to take any responsibility for this egregious lack of communication on their part. Over the years I have had providers always give us notification if there is a change in carrier coverage, and Phoenix Children's has failed to do so -- and their billing department does not care, so we are going to have to escalate our dispute with them. On another note, this is not the first billing discrepancy we've had with Phoenix Children's, so I guess it really shouldn't surprise me that this is how they operate. I would warn anyone looking to send their kids here to be prepared to deal with billing mistakes and aggravation. Never again for us. read more

I have loved bringing my son here for years but they couldn't even give patients until the end of the year to figure out coverage after they sent a letter claiming they no longer accept BCBS. Now a sick kid appointment for a sore throat will cost me up to $200 when he HAS insurance that I pay for. I have been going to Paradise Pediatric for over 7 years they have been there for my daughters birth and my sons on April 6 2021. They switched over to paradise Phoenix children's and never informed me they wouldn't accept my insurance in-fact my fiancé and i were told by our doctor on April 8, 2021 that "nothing changed other than their name" Yesterday August 10 2021 i called to reschedule both of kids well check appointment and was notified I'm out of network and i have an outstanding bill with more coming in just waiting on insurance to approve or decline and that i have been out of network since April 1, 2021. I gave birth to my son on April 6, 2021. I received my out of network bill for the hospital date: April 8, 2021 and it's labeled under Phoenix children's (which is out of my network) but i also received a bill for another bill for an appointment that was for April 12, 2021 billing me under paradise pediatrc (which would have been in network)... Morale of the story this company has screwed a long time customer by not explaining that the switch over would no longer expect my insurance and while dealing with this whole experience I called and spoke with an employee that has been there before the switch over by the name of Joy and she even admitted that they were misinformed and they thought they would still accept BCBS insurance.... Nothing has happened since i have disputed this claim other than i received a letter stating I'm responsible for the amounts since i wasn't in network. Tried to give this place a chance, but three negative experiences were more than enough. First, Dr. Newby told us that lip ties didn't exist when I expressed concerns about my infant. Dr. Buck told us that my infant's gastrointestinal symptoms were normal when they ended up being an intolerance. The final straw was a nurse who kept calling my child "friend" refusing to allow me to hold my baby during a vaccine, which resulted in unnecessary trauma and crying. Switched to a different pediatrician and she actually seems to care about patients. I would run far away from here. read more

I called to schedule appointments for my 3 children as new patients. I was asked if my children had the covid vaccine. I replied no not currently. She refused the care for my children because of it! She said it was policy that you have to get the covid vaccine to be seen. I cannot believe they would turn away the care for children because of a vaccine!??! Dr. Newby is the best! She was the doctor who came to see my son in the hospital when he was born and I'm so glad. A 8 weeks, she was the doctor who recognized the need to get my infant son to the children's hospital when the other doctor didn't. He needed surgery the next day. She's friendly and easy to talk to. I'm a first time mom and she never makes me feel dumb for asking questions and has never talked down to me. I just saw she won a 2019 Phoenix Top Doc award, and it's well deserved! Our insurance has changed and I am heartbroken that Paradise Pediatrics, and specifically Dr. Newby, is no longer in network. I've got actual tears over here at the prospect of having to find another doctor for my 8 month old! I'm keeping their number in my phone if ever I need a second opinion. They take walk-in appointments daily from 8 to 8:30 AM and they are open Saturdays and half days on Sundays for emergencies. You won't regret seeing Doctor Newby! read more

My son is 3 years old next month. It took us sometime to find an LGBT friendly pediatrician in Phoenix but we found one. However when he was born, and we went for his first visit after birth the doctor we wanted, Dr Kwatra, wasn't available so we saw another doctor in their office, Dr Kertz. When we were there she was going over family history and asked about donor info if we had it available. Since my brother is the donor (my wife carried the baby) I was able to provide all family medical history. She made comments saying "oh so really you are just the aunt. Your brother is the father." We corrected her and said "no, he is the donor. I am his mother." Needless to say we left and informed his actual doctor when we saw him the next visit. He assumed us that they are LGBT friendly and her comments were not that of the office. Dr Kwatra was always great with us. However, We recently moved and needed his medical records for his new doctor. We wanted a copy as well for our records. When I was going over them, I noticed in his medical records it says "other mom is actually his aunt." On another record it says "father is other mom's brother." I went over the medical records and saw that even encounter (office visit) it has it on the visit summary in his medical records. I went back to the first initial visit and saw that it was on the first one from Dr. Kertz. I hope this can be a learning experience for Dr. Kertz that not all families can be placed in a checked box. My brother is a donor not my sons father. That is offensive and hurtful. I will be informing the local LGBT community center to stop referring LGBT people to his practice. read more

I love the doctors at Paradise Pediatrics. My children have seen Dr. Stamps, Dr. Kwatra, and Dr. Redleaf. I love how caring and thorough they are. Sometimes it can be very busy and there can be a long wait time. However for good doctors that doesn't matter. Dr. Kwatra is the best and my daughter loves him. He explains everything that is going to happen in the visit. He explains all the vaccinations in detail and what diseases they prevent and even about the diseases. He is really awesome. New update: Goodbye Paradise Pediatrics! I am on the hunt for a great pediatrician and pediatrician office because this one is not cutting it. We have had billing issues, lack of good customer service in the front office and now my last experiences with the doctor is the last straw for me to leave and never look back. My daughter had an issue with something and I called the office to get the pediatrician's advice. It took hours for the nurse to get back to me and what was worse is the advice they gave me was to go to the emergency room ASAP. Ok, if it was so urgent, why did it freaking take 4 hours since I called for you to call me back??!!! Then the last visit was because my daughter had a nasty flu bug that lasted for two weeks. I called to schedule an appt and they got me in right away. When I got there, we waited for a long time because they were backed up. Then when Dr Stamps came in, he was in such a rush that he didn't really address all my concerns. He had to check my daughter's ears for an infection and she was crying hysterically and fighting him that she spit up all her milk that she just had. My ten month old had spit up all over herself and some went on to the doctor's pants. I felt so bad...for my daughter and for the doctor. What didn't help was that he acted soooo annoyed that she did that. Um, you're a doctor. She's a ten month old that's sick and you're holding her down. The lack of professionalism and empathy is appalling to me! See you never. Update: I'm getting so frustrated with the billing department at this clinic that I'm seriously considering finding a new pediatrician. I come here because of the Dr. The staff and office building are not welcoming, but I continue to come back for the doctor. However, I don't know if I can continue coming back because I have this ongoing issue with the billing department. My daughter was born in December and I contacted my HR department to add her to my insurance. Unfortunately, my insurance did not add her until 2 weeks later so claims were being denied. Their billing department called and mailed me bills saying insurance denied. It was a back and forth thing with insurance and this billing department to finally reprocess the claims. I really don't understand all of these bad reviews. This pediatrician office has been amazing for me and my family. Anything that people are complaining about in these reviews are things that I have never once experienced in the almost 3 years that we have been going there. Every single doctor has, at some point, helped my child and they are ALL amazing. Dr. Newby is our main doctor and she's been such a help to my child and even to me! She has given me soooo many amazing recommendations for things to do or products to use to make raising a child easier and they have ALL been incredible recommendations. They are not slow at this office at all. In fact, I find them faster than most doctors offices. I've been able to email with smaller questions and either get a call or email back without having to go in. I've also been able to schedule same day if my child has a sudden ear infection or something. They are reasonable and informative and kind and I always recommend them to any of my family or friends that have children! read more

I have previously loved this office and the doctors. This past appointment was supposed to be a fast vaccine visit. When I made the appointment I was informed that my child would have to be seen by a doctor because they do not do vaccine only appointments (I have never been told that before and I always space out the vaccines). I made the appointment for the afternoon, pulled my child out of school early and then we waited for over an hour to see the doctor for 5 minutes. The provider was nice and did take the time to assess my child but I did not need her to. After her five minute visit we sat around for another 10 minutes for the MA to come back and give the shots. I just received my bill for the office visit that I was forced into and it is over $400. I am so sad to feel taken advantage of by this office that has previously been great. read more

THIS REVIEW IS SOLEY FOR DR. MICHAEL STAMPS AT Paradise Pediatrics. Now, I don't want to be that parent, or come off harsh in any way and it isn't even like me to have confrontation, but I need it out there about this doctor, the bedside manner, the treatment and what happened at this visit. Dr. Stamps, (whom I will never recommend to anyone). He was sarcastic, stand-off ish, kind of walked around the hallway and popped his head in after his nurse visited and then asked US if we wanted him to test for RSV and the flu, then 10 mins later, popped back in and said he was negative for both. Dr. Stamps then proceeded to say, yeah he is wheezing pretty bad and has contracted breathing but it is probably just a cold, and even if it is RSV, it is "no big deal". He then tells me that I am "overly sensitive because it is my first child", "I need to have my postpartum medicine checked and see my doctor" because "I was crying too much" and told me to go home and have a glass of wine and relax" and then sent me home with a suction bulb and saline drops. Noah was completely red in the face, discolored around his mouth, his eyes were sunken in, he was wheezing, deep wet cough, belly moving up and down deep to breathe, ribs were showing in between breaths, throat was going in and out, and he wasn't really eating much anymore. I was literally watching him breathe all night. By Friday, I had the worst stomach ache ever. Noah was struggling so much to breathe and coughing that I was having to hit him in the back each time. We were suctioning and spraying like crazy (like the doctor said to do), cool mist, and doing "all the right things" everyone said. Finally, Nick called me at work and said we needed to take him back in. Right away, we saw another different doctor (ours was out). He ran so many tests, oxygen levels, listened and monitored his breathing, gave him breathing treatments, ran blood work, weighed him, all the things a doctor should be doing, right? THANK YOU DR. Ceimo! Well, within an hour of a confirmed RSV test and Noah's oxygen dropping, our patient room was filled with 8 paramedics/firefighters, and Noah and I were strapped to a stretcher, on oxygen and pushed out of the doctor's office to Phx Children's ER. Noah became so lethargic, eyes were rolling all over, eyes red and sunken in worse than ever, and breathing was slowing down. The ER was incredible though. Later, it was determined that he had bronchiolitis RSV, a serious lung infection that produces swelling and mucus in the small breathing tubes of your child's lungs. Noah received numerous treatments, suctioning and was on oxygen for 3 days. We are now at home with a pulse oximeter, breathing machine, and continued suctioning and monitoring him and he gained back 2 ounces. Things escalated so quickly and we were both in tears. So new patients/parents.. see Dr. Newby or Dr. Ceimo-- I would never trust Dr. Stamps with my child or anyone's child for that matter. read more

We've gone to the doctors at Paradise Pediatrics for quite some time. Two generations to be specific! Clearly, there's something at Paradise that we like. My daughter (a former Dr Stamps patient) was recently able to transfer her daughters to Paradise from another pediatrician. An insurance issue had prevented it before. She complained, "Paradise called me seven times following up on her antibiotic!" Yes! They're so thorough. A chronic issue that had gone on far too long under the other doctor is now finally being solved. Such a difference. Just finished a Saturday follow up appointment with Dr Stamps. Yes, a senior physician in on a Saturday! I did read a couple of negative reviews with interest. I suppose it's possible the counter staff was rude or that a doctor my have been abrupt on a busy day, but that has not been our experience over the years. read more

Dr. Newby is our pediatrician for both our girls. We couldn't be happier, she is trustworthy, down to earth, and always available. She has always talked us through everything, I read the LGBT review, and am super disheartened by the experience that was shared. I genuinely went back and forth if I were going to write this review or not, but I just can't get over the fact how poorly this practice operates as a business let alone a pediatric office. At my last appointment, I arrived approx 10 min before and not one person showed up to the front desk to "check me in" until five minutes after my appointment. No big deal... I was then escorted to the back of the office and asked to take my babies clothes off so the nurse could come in for weight, measurements, etc. While my six-month-old baby and I have been now sitting in the patient room for 20 minutes, it's now almost 30 minutes past my appointment, I got a call from Paradise pediatrics asking where I am because I am late to my appointment. I found this astonishing because I was brought back to a room 20 minutes prior and asked to strip my baby down and no one even knew I was there?!?! Apparently I was never "checked in". Then, not one person seemed to know where my official immunization record was, after just handing it to an employee, so the total appointment took over an hour while they searched for his records.. and this is the second time this has happened now. I feel bad, because I genuinely like the doctors and the office staff are nice people but it seems like they are operating a sideshow at a circus, most definitely not a pediatric care facility. Unfortunately, although I love my doctor, I will never ever go back to this practice ever again. I don't know if the horrible customer service is due to the company being sold to a public company and management changing place or what is going on but it's a complete and total disaster if you want my honest truth. I could run any type of facility better with my eyes closed. Unfortunately me and a lot of my friends have now left the practice due to this complete lack of common sense. read more

We received multiple recommendations to this practice and we couldn't be happier. We heard great things about all of the doctors, and we have seen a few and they are all fantastic. We chose Dr Kwatra as our primary physician based on a few friends commenting he would be the "best fit" for us. SPOT ON! Each doctor has their own personality and bedside manor and you just have to find the one who fits you and your child the best. Dr Kwatra has a very funny, friendly personality and takes time to explain everything he does. He maintains a great balance between what he recommends while still respecting our personal choices as parents. You can tell he has certain things he's adamant about and others that he thinks we can decide, which we love and it definitely boosts our confidence in his recommendations--we know he is only going to suggest things he believes are right or necessary for our child. Dr Kwatra's nurse is also one of our favorite parts of our visits. Our son loves her and she genuinely seems happy to see him... Even though he pees on her practically every weigh in. She takes it with a smile. Ha!! Sometimes we've had a long wait and others we've gotten right in, standard for a dr office. But they also take walk ins every morning and being able to get your sick kid in right away is amazing. read more

My 3 children have been through a lot and Dr. Kwatra has always provided excellent care. I always recommend him to every parent I know looking for a Pediatrician. I had my daughter unexpectedly at 35 weeks. Picking a pediatrician was the last thing on my to-do list and of course she came before I got it done! I found Paradise Pediatrics online on the way to the hospital and I'm so glad I chose them! Dr. Ceimo is incredibly thorough and attentive. He makes sure to answer all of our questions in depth. His nurse is also fantastic and truly seems to care about her patients. The girl at the front desk (I think it might be Lexi?) is always so polite and helpful! My pet visit is much better than this place. We had an appointment with Dr Kurtz at 9:15 And waited until 10:05 nevertheless she didn't not even come despite of us asking for her 3 times. This was our first visit with our newborn turning 2 weeks old which should have been more pleasant however it turned out to be a Majorie disaster since the Nurse Sandra weighted our son 2.5 pounds short and started making threat calls that our child can die and needs to be taken to emergency office right the way which put allot of fear and stress on My wife that she can not afford having neither at the moment. 2 hours later we found me much more caring place where they were able to do everything right in the first place. My point is if you want to avoid wasting time and getting right type of service please looking to some other place rather than here. read more

Dr. Kwatra and this office give above and beyond care. We ended up in the ER late Saturday evening after our 9 month old suffered a febrile seizure from a 105 degree temp. Despite the office being closed, Dr. Kwatra was on the line with the ER doctor. Fortunately, the ER was able to get his temperature down and run tests. We were ok to go home. The next morning Dr. Kwatra, unprompted, called to check on our son. They are closed on Sunday and we weren't expecting a call. This simple action reinforces how much Dr. Kwatra cares about his patients, their well-being and their families. We all want the best for our kids and this office and Dr. Kwatra are the best. read more

We had our first appointment with Paradise today. We arrived 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork and watched the waiting room fill up with patients, then watched them all go in ahead of us. We had our three year old and our 14 month old with us and despite checking in with the front desk multiple times, we ended up waiting for over 75 minutes to be escorted to the room, then waited another 15-20 for the doctor to come in. By this time, both kids were getting really bored and our little guy was crying as he was due for his nap, which is why we set the appointment time early in the first place. When Dr. Kertz FINALLY came into the room, she told us that she'd just been sitting at her desk eating a snack and had no idea that we were waiting! She was nice and competent, but her nurse then bungled the shot my daughter needed and scratched her arm with the needle. It was a pretty crappy visit and I don't think we'll be back to see if they can improve the next time. read more

This place is wonderful, I had a previous pediatric office for my two children and it was a joke. They are wonderful, the staff is friendly, easy to get an appointment (even calling for the same day), and don't have to wait around a long time. You can tell the staff really enjoys working here, as you can here laughter with patients, etc. Dr. Kurtz, is very kind and understanding. I arrived with my daughter for a visit regarding her mental health that had been scheduled 2 weeks prior. When I checked in I was told that Phoenix Children's Pediatrics doesn't accept my insurance and they "forgot" to let me know. I asked if I could get the cash pay discount and was told by office manager that that discount is only for people without insurance. Office manager offered to refer me to a list of counselors which was ridiculous considering how booked out counselors and psychiatrists are. Plus, being that my daughter has a been a patient of Dr. Kertz for so many years, she's comfortable talking to her. Dr. Kertz never came out check on us or offer an apology for such a major screw up. My daughter has been a patient there her whole life and no one cared that she's been struggling, no one asked if she's currently in crisis, nothing. How this was handled is unethical, unprofessional, and careless. I'm so extremely disappointed and will be filing a formal complaint. read more

Everytime I come here I'm left waiting in waiting room for 30-45 mins & than finally transferred back to another room & left waiting an additional 20-30 mins!!!! This is extremely frustrating to endure alone but is completely unbearable to endure with an infant & 3 yr old!!!! The doctors & staff are great but there is no individual or personal attention paid to the patients They appear to be concerned more with overbooking & making money rather than true caregiving I'm over it & my children deserve better care read more

I would give Dr Kertz a perfect score if I was only scoring her. If you go to this office I highly recommend you see her. She is unbelievably knowledgeable, up on all the latest research, kind and personable. As for the office as a whole, I would not be going here if not for Dr. Kertz. That is not to say that the other doctors are not good but after having seen everybody in the practice and Dr. Kertz is a cut above the rest. As for the office in general, I've had a couple horrible customer service experiences. The nurses aren't super pleasant and I had one of the doctor make a medication error (which then Dr. Kertz caught and fixed) and another tell me I should abstain from all spices and seasonings while nursing (there is no evidence to back this as a good recommendation). That being said- you have to believe me when I say that Dr. Kertz is worth continuing to go there. After all, no office is perfect. Hours are good and the sick walk-in hours are convenient (although I am more cautious as to who I'm willing to see for walk in sick appointments for my kids). read more

I met Dr Newby over two years ago when I interviewed pediatricians. She was amazing then, and she's still amazing now. She is the pediatrician for both my two year old daughter, and my newborn son. She's fantastic, and we couldn't be happier with her knowledge and friendliness. She's even reached out to me via text to check on my newborn when he had light therapy for jaundice.
