I can't help but laugh reading some of these reviews. Patients review bombing a new practice because they're mad the old one sold out. Change isn't always a bad thing! People who are mad at Optima because the prior practice decided to sell? People who are mad at Optima because prior practitioners decided to leave? Why don't you be mad at the previous practice and not the new one? People who are made that prescriptions won't be filled over the phone? (Filling a prescription without seeing and evaluating a patient is just unsafe, bad practice anyway). A lot of misplaced frustrations. My husband went today as a new patient and this far exceeded my expectations, so take prior reviews with a grain of salt. Okay, with that out of the way, I just wanted to sing the praises of FNP Junnesh Moushi. My husband had been suffering debilitating pain from a slipped disc and Junnesh really took the time to assess him, form a plan that worked for us, and was clear about our next steps in management. I felt she truly cared about his ailments and what was most impressive was this was our initial visit. Setting up an appointment was easy enough, and we were able to get in quickly. I don't know what more I could have asked for. Highly recommend Junnesh for her compassion, attention to detail, and excellent "bedside" manner. read more

Absolutely everything you have come to hate about our medical system. they close earlier, respond to issues later and staff?! Staff turnover is constant! Four different people in a year. first 10 years I came here? One single nurse practitioner! Medications that used to require a check up every 3 to 6 months...Now they've randomly made it monthly (in order to bill insurance 3 to 6 times more often). I have to call back and forth between optima and my pharmacy EVERY single time I need a refill due to terrible communications between them. read more

Practice is under new ownership. I switched PCP a few years ago because I couldn't stand how rude the previous front-desk staff were. Heard good things and switched back...glad I did! Got a message to say, Dr. Levins is no longer at the practice, contacted the practice, and they refuse to say if Dr. Levins has retired or gone elsewhere. The practice has gone downhill since it was absorbed by Optima, just another Walmartlike company absorbing doctors' offices. I would not recommend them for care and with Dr. Levins being gone, they don't even have physicians at Tatum Highlands anymore, just PA's and NP's, according to their website. Reading through other reviews, I will also state that it is hard to get prescriptions sent in correctly. Cathy was very hard to work with even after multiple calls to her. I also had billing issues because whomever is doing the coding obviously doesn't know how to do their job. My annual physical this year was coded as a high regular visit. Cari M. was the best part of this place! Now there are some new rock stars on the team I'm sure but overall the front desk people are wildly unprofessional and rude, and every time I come in I receive a new bill for a service even from over a year ago, even though I've been in 5+ times this year for various appointments. It's a fun new game to come in and see what new bill I have; and when I call to verify with a number they give me since they can't tell me what the current charge is for, there is a different amount than what the front desk people advised me. The PA's I've seen here are sweet, and Mara is great, but besides those two things I can't find anything positive about this place anymore. Be ready to have appointments changed or confused at the time for with sassy texts from front desk. I was told they sent FMLA paperwork in the same day I had an appointment to my employer but my employer has not yet received. It's just stuff like that having me hope I can get in at honor health or anywhere else soon honestly to establish care. read more

I've been a patient of Tatum Highlands for the past 5 years. Since they were acquired by optima medical it has been downhill. I was referred by a previous client of mine who has since left the practice. Previously they were fantastic about communication and responding to prescription refill requests. Over the past 6 months they've gotten progressively worse and worse. Calling to refill the prescription used to be a same day affair, instead now they delay and I'm lucky if I can even get them on the phone when I call. Unfortunately with medication shortages, their slow speed at faxing/electronic prescriptions has yielded delays in me getting my medications. It means I have to call back repeatedly and hope that they have some urgency. Since they were acquired by a different practice, their care quality has gone down significantly. Given the longevity of being there, I'm giving them another chance, but if not I'll have to find somewhere new. read more

Now we discover today that Dr Levins has left the practice along with Cari Montoya,FNP. We were never notified and now need to find a new practice. Be very leary of this place. They charged $245.00 for your first visit. That is outrageous for a 15 minute consult. Dr Snider took it upon herself to decide my son was up to date on all his shots without verifying his records. He was NOT up to date and I had to pay for another Doctor visit (not here) so he could get up to date on his shots. So pretty much I paid $245.00 for NOTHING. read more

I have been a patient here for a couple of years now and I typically see one of the FPNs, Ashley. She is awesome and I couldn't be more happy. Or so I thought. Que this past Tuesday. I woke up with a very unexpected and out of nowhere, infection (are they ever expected?) in a lip piercing. I called my piercer but couldn't get in until 2pm. By the time I was able to see him my lip was so swollen and the infection was so bad, my piercing was completely embedded into my lip. Needless to say, he couldn't help me. I called Urgent Care but they were a bust. They couldn't help me and advised I go to the hospital. Noooooooooo, please, anywhere but the hospital! I called the office and lucky they were able to get me in at 4:20! When I arrived, I looked like I took a solid shot to the face by Mike Tyson; it was bad, but I was pretty confident I was going to survive haha. In all honesty though, I was really scared, but I had to put on my brave face or what was left of it and tried to remain calm and strong haha. It took some magic, a white knuckle grip of my hand holding Cathy's hand, a lot of numbing medication and some suture thread but Dr. Levin got the piercing out! Theeeeeeeen came the tetanus shot in the arm (does anyone, ever, actually, remember, when they've had their last tetanus shot)? I'm sure I've had plenty in the last ten years, but can't pinpoint a date or time. Oh well whats another one gonna hurt?). Then, it was time to address the infection and out comes aaaaaaaaaanother needle!! This time, drop trow and stab me in the butt! Ugh.... that damn shot hurt more and worse than anything I experienced the entire day! Oh, and I won't even get into the way it felt the next day... Anyway, all I can say is this clinic's staff is by far some of the best and I feel very lucky to be one of their patients, no matter who I see. P.S. Here's my PSA, as long as mask wearing is mandatory, DO NOT GET ANY FACIAL PIERCINGS! Unless, that is, you want to pay Dr. Levin and his team a visit! read more

Outstanding provider with Cari Montoya. The rest of the office makes seeing her miserable. Indifferent front office, outdated mask policy and absolutely no follow up on requirements of the back office. Expect to be bombarded with texts and calls regarding scheduling appointments. Prescription refills are held hostage to arbitrary office appointment requirements. You will pay a fee to receive your own records if they are ever needed. read more

Dr, Levins has been my doc for a few years now. He has that fine balance of being professional and personal at the same time.. We are never rushed. He takes his time with his questions and examination. Finally he is a gifted teacher who shares things in a way that a medical novice can understand. Could not recommend him more highly. I have been going to this Practice for 15yrs. I am 76yrs old and Dr. Levins is the best Doctor I have ever had. He never seems in a rush. He takes all the time you need and explains everything. Sad to say...nothing good lasts forever. I've been a patient of Dr Levins at Tatum Highlands for over a decade. I (and no other patients) even knew that he sold the practice till recently and that has been only through word of mouth. None of his patients were ever notified of this sale to Optima Medical. All we ever received were flowery marketing based phone texts and e-mail notifications of that name change. No one really knew what any of this really meant. If you want to continue your care under Dr Levins, he will be practicing medicine within the Honor Health system, from the John C Lincoln Hospital campus on Dunlap Rd & 3rd St starting at the end of December 2023. The Optima Medical system is one that does not have MD's or DO's at any of their locations. It's all Nurse Practitioners, PA's and Techs. Every time I go in to the office at Tatum Highlands, it's like walking into a McDonalds restaurant. Different faces each time, discontinuity of over a decade of patient records & care and the sadness of seeing a high quality medical practice reduced to the lowest common denominator of a business model. Sadly, a lot patients lost their continuity of care because Optima Medical doesn't even use an actual EMR system and all patient history is a thing of the past to these people. When you present to anyone there as a patient, they will want to order all kinds of unnecessary testing and diagnostic procedures because no one knows anything about your historic patient care legacy with Tatum Highlands Medical Center. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Levins for 6 years, I started with him in Old Scottsdale and moved with him when he moved his office to North Scottsdale. I live in Gilbert and he's def worth the drive. I have been going to Tatum Highlands Medical Associates for five years now and have had appointments with all the staff. I always felt they were exceptional. Recently I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was in hospital for two months. After I returned home Dr Levins took over the role of central caregiver and collects information from my other doctors and sends information out to them. He is the kindest and most professional doctor I know and all the practitioners and ancillary staff follow his example. They are the most caring medical practice in the valley and I'm indeed lucky to be a patient there. read more

I have also seen Paul the PA and Sandy the Nurse Practitioner. Unfortunately the staff is is completely incompetent and I can no longer receive the care from this office. I have tried repeatedly to have a prescription doctor call me, the office manager and records department leaving over 6 messages for a return call and no one has ever called me back! Everyone is rude and apathetic. This office has called and messaged me 3 times in the last week, asking me to make an appt for my annual exam. I called the office today asking if Dr Levins was there. The girl told me yes, but when I asked to speak with him, she quickly told me he's in a meeting, and that the only way I can speak with him is if I make an appointment. I didn't. Instead I messaged them asking for a call, and they responded by telling me that since I changed PCP's, there's no need for me to speak with Dr. Levins. Apparently this is the only way that there's a chance that Peter Levins, MD will hear what I have to say. I had been a patient of Tatum Highland Medical Associates for over 5 years. Last year, during the height of the pandemic, I had an appointment for my annual exam. They texted me my appt time of 9:30. For some reason I thought it was 9:45. I actually was in their parking lot at 9:20 but sat in my car until 9:40, knowing they weren't allowing a waiting room full of patients. At 9:40, I got out of my car and went to their door, only to see their sign that said not to come in, but to call from my car when I get there (why didn't they text that information with my appointment time??). I called to say I was there, and they nastily told me that my appointment was at 9:15 and that I was late. I said I thought it was at 9:45, and they told me, again nastily, that I was late. I was also told that they didn't know if they'd be able to see me now that I was late, and they would check and call me back. In the meantime, I checked my text message and saw that it said 9:30. They called me and said they'll squeeze me in now. I walked in and said that I have their text message showing that my appt was at 9:30. Nobody cared. They shoved me through their waiting area and yelled at me to get on the scale, then brought me into the exam room. They were so rude to me, that I was shocked. They did an EKG and the tall woman who I had never seen before, was ripping those stickers off my skin cause apparently she was in a rush. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to them. Reading other reviews, I see I'm not the only one who feels this way. They ran a nice office for a few years. Office staff as well as the medical staff has changed and it's gone down hill. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Levins for over 15 years.In this time he and I have both relocated. I am now in Mesa and he is in North Phoenix. I travel 70 miles round-trip through rush hour city traffic every 3 months for my appointments with Dr. Levins and have no intentions of changing a thing. He has been and continues to be a fantastic doctor and his staff and support are top rate. I never comment on these rating sites but kinda freaked out when I saw some of the weaker ratings on here. For starters I was recommended by a friend who raves about Dr Levins, when I called to schedule a New patient appointment with him I was told that I would need to "establish care" with one of the NP's or PA. I then again requested Dr Levins as he was recommended and was told I would need to fill out the New Patient paperwork and email it to Corey, who was the one who took the phone call and that she would give it to the office manager who then would decide what date and time would be best for Dr Levins to see me. Umm I'm the patient, right? So shouldn't I be the one who should be allowed to pick the date and time. I politely said no thank you I will call around as I started to become frustrated. I requested to see the Dr as he was highly recommended, not the NP's or the PA. Good luck to anyone who is trying to get in to see the actual DR at this place. I've been going to this clinic for about 3 years now. I was about to begin searching for a new doctor in the east valley because it would be a lot closer to home for me. That all changed when I started seeing Dr. Levins a couple of months ago. He is caring, kind, patient, and knowledgeable; Everything you hope to find in a doctor! He never makes me feel rushed, or that my problems/concerns are insignificant. He is an amazing listener and truly cares. So this clinic used to have a great lead doctor and was run well. But sadly the staff has become very condescending and the clinic is no longer well run now that Dr. Levins has taken over. I had a billing issue and the staff would not answer any of my questions nor provide me with copies of paperwork I requested so I could understand what was going on with my bill. They coded my visit incorrectly and would not correct the issue causing an overbilling. What was really disappointing was the front desk staff was soooo condescending when questioned. Dr. Levins has been my doctor for the past 10+ years except for the 3 year break. At his old location I could never get the results from any blood work or tests that had been performed. Now that he has moved to this new location and it is even more difficult to reach him. His assistant is just as bad as what he had at the other office and does not return calls. I am needing assistance with a form from the new insurance company regarding a pre-existing condition, but they don't return calls. It's probably time to look for a new doctor. read more
