I had a broken filling from a DIFFERENT dentist office and was in a lot of pain because of it. I made an appointment with Dr. Dawood with ease and went in hoping for it to be finally fixed. The staff showed great hospitality, care, and attentiveness to fixing my issue. I got a full exam, cleaning, and filling for an amazing price. Dr. Dawood did such a great job, I almost fell asleep during my filling...that's how seamless it went. 10/10 recommend, and I'll be getting scheduled cleanings for as long as I can!!! read more

Dr. Kamali is so kind and patient. He is willing to work with my financial limits. It's a very calm environment. Stephanie at the front desk is very sweet too. read more

Teeth cleaning was adequate. Dentist was thorough in explanation, however I have very sensitive teeth and was very uncomfortable with the ultrasonic cleaning tools used. When I tried to explain that I had always had manual scaling done in the past, he stated "have you always been like this? This is the only way to clean your teeth." Bedside manner needs improvement. read more

I searched for a great dentist for about a year and a half. I knew they were out there - someone that could do quality work without having to take out a loan to pay for the treatments. I found him! Dr. Kamali and his team are wonderful. Great work, courteous, thorough, patient and very helpful. read more

Terrible customer service. The receptionist will not advocate or spend an ounce of her time to help you. I am having a difficult time understanding how ratings here are as high as they are. read more

Dr. Kamali and his staff are amazing! I'm so grateful for the work he did for me, he's a true example of what a professional that is dedicated to their career should be. The friendliness of him and his staff helped ease my nerves and the vast knowledge from over 20 years of experience showed in all he did. I fully recommend him for all your dental needs. Thank you so much for helping me! I was able to easily schedule my appointment and when he saw me he gave me options as to what could be done. I wasn't sure which road to take so he let me sleep on it and allowed me to come in again with a more definitive answer. I never felt rushed or pushed to do something that would put more money in his pocket. He was very open and honest about all my options. I'm so grateful for all you helped me with. read more

Ive been coming here for better part of 10-11 years. extremely frank and very honest. If there is a issue your told up front "this concerns me", if not urgent......youll be told it does not hurt now...lets keep an eye on it and see how it looks on your next appt. The brutal honesty and customer service is why I return here and refer friends, family and co-workers. 5 years ago my 7 year old was told by his pediatric dentist that he had 8 cavities and would be needed to be put under while they worked on these. I was shocked...this is a kid that does not have candy ( unless its Halloween or at a b-day party). Sodas are not stocked at home so maybe at ballgame or again a party or out to dinner. so I brought my kid here for a second opinion. after x-rays Dr Kamali said I only see 1 possible cavity and saw no reason for the procedure. He wanted to keep an eye on it and on his follow up he did in fact have 1 cavity NOT 8. Again very honest and my son and I have both been very happy here. read more

There have been few times in my life where a service has been so good or so bad that I felt obligated to share my personal experience with future customers (or in this case patients)... So let me tell you my story. I found La Mesa Family Dental Group here, thanks to Yelp. I had recently left another dentist in La Mesa because I was so dissatisfied with her service. So much that I didnt want to go to the dentist for a long LONG time. When I found La Mesa Family Dental Group I was immediately interested in signing up at Dr. Kamali's office. 100 percent of that was because of YOUR reviews. It was not until I met Dr. Kamali and his staff did I know exactly how amazing LMFDG really was. In the last few weeks I have been to the office for cavity fillings and a cleaning. Scheduling is not an issue. They always have spots available. Dr. Kamali is knowledgable, down to earth, and honest. He is not pushy and he does not try to sell you anything you do not need (That is HUGE). His assistants are very kind and helpful and his receptionists are very nice and welcoming. I created this Yelp account because I felt obligated to pay it forward like so many of you did and to reward Dr. Kamali's good work. If you are looking for a good, honest dentist, that is more interested in the health of your teeth and not the almighty dollar I highly recommend Dr. Kamali. at La Mesa Family Dental Group. I hope this review helps. Thank you for reading. 29 year Old - San Diego Native read more

My third time here and they are super chill when I am late. Dr K explains everything before he starts and makes sure you are comfortable with what he's doing. Receptionist Stephanie is very sweet. The nurses also are very nice. I started coming here because it's by my place and my children come here. Now that I've moved further away, I continue to come here. They are never too busy to see you on short notice either, which is nice when you break or lose a crown. (That was scary) but they hooked me up. If you are nearby say hi and you will see what I mean. read more

My family and I have been going for years to Dr. Kamali, and we have felt the quality of our care has been very consistent: He has always given us excellent care. When I had a dental emergency and cracked a tooth, he was extremely understanding and made great effort to treat me immediately, something I have never had with previous providers. I also appreciate the way he has clearly laid out different treatment options when available, and his prices have stayed reasonable. My family hasn't had any issues with the staff, our experience is that they have always been very professional. I would recommend him to anyone--and if you have any questions or concerns, my experience has been that he truly is understanding and will work with you. I always recommend him to family and friends---give him a try if you value great, consistent service. read more

If you are looking for a Dentist with great customer service and genuinely cares about preserving your teeth, Dr. Kamali is a great choice. He will give you an honest assessment and will give you the best option that your Insurance or circumstance will offer. After spending many years fearing the Dentist, I found Dr. Kamali. He has a gentle hand when performing procedures, is very caring and upfront with his patients. Dr. Kamali is understanding about the fears that some patients may have & he does his absolute best to make you comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Kamali. read more

I've been visiting Dr. Kamali's office for a little bit over the past 6 years and haven't needed to go anywhere else for my dental needs. Originally I came here simply because he was one of the nearest dentists referred to me by my insurance, but I was impressed by his office so I stayed. The office has really good hours for people who work all day like me, being open until 6pm four days a week is quite a change from what I am use to. Most dentists have hours that are almost nonexistent for people who have long work days. Never had a problem ever scheduling an afternoon appointment here, the staff seems to be really good at making their schedule work for people. Everyone on the staff here is very friendly and does a great job at making you feel welcome. Dr. Kamali himself is one of the better dentists I've ever had before. He is straight to the point, tells you what you need to do to improve your situation and provides great feedback. I hate going to the dentist personally, but Kamali makes dental visits seem a lot easier to bear. He's really good with the lidocaine needle providing a pain-free dental experience. Have never had to return for problems with work done here, which is a major plus for any dentist (I've had some really screw things up before). As far as billing rates go, they seem pretty reasonable, I have crappy insurance so I expect I pay a little bit more than most people would. Before starting any procedure here, they come in to inform you exactly the amount you'll be responsible for though giving you several options. They take credit cards which makes paying way easier as well. read more

Horrible service! The women at the front desk are so unprofessional, just sitting there gossiping. Mr. Kamali was so insensitive to my already insecure gap between my teeth that I was inquiring about. Wont ever go back again or recommend anyone here. Oh and did I mention the office is not so tidy. There was dirty chairs, cob webs etc. read more

Personally I have been to 15+ dentist over the years and Dr. Kamali is hands down the best. A lot of dentist are reminiscent of "used car sales men" (sorry car sales professionals) with high pressure and unnecessary upgrades; Dr. Kamali is not. Straight forward, down to earth, friendly and good staff as well. I sell insurance and I have referred many of my clients to him and to date all feedback has been positive. Thank you. read more

Today was my third and last visit to La Mesa Family Dental. The staff are rude and unprofessional. First of all, the receptionist was 10 minutes late, so I was standing outside waiting, she pulls in the parking lot and runs to the door to unlock it, the alarm went off about five times. I have sensitive teeth and my experience today was torturous. Dr. Kamali's response was " I have never seen anyone who is so sensitive! most people fall asleep while I'm doing this!" The dental assistant snapped at me "Not to JERK MY HEAD!" then he had his assistant "polish" my teeth, she needs more training. She was dropping everything & did a fast sloppy job, chomping on gum the whole time. I don't even feel like I had a cleaning. I don't know her name, because she introduced herself as "I'm just here helping out today." They also tried to upsell me a fluoride treatment for $35 and a $25 toothpaste for sensitive teeth. NO THANKS! read more

Dr. Kamali and his staff are totally awesome. I have SO much trouble with my teeth and I have ignored them for years because I have had bad experiences with dentists in the past. Dr. Kamali was not judgmental, and even better, he was totally cost conscious. He and his staff worked with my insurance to get me the best benefit coverage. I have a LOT wrong with my teeth, and while he made a plan as to what needs to be done, he said we could just do one thing at a time, working with my budget and taking the time I need. The office is totally updated, clean and modern. I felt totally comfortable and at ease at this office. read more

Two things you must have in life, a good mechanic, and a good dentist. I have a great dentist! The staff is professional and happy. Dr. Kamali is great at describing any procedures that have to be done, and he performs them flawlessly. I am retired, so I must consider affordability; and all my procedures have been easy on my wallet. I know that going to the dentist is not fun, but when I get my notice in the mail for a checkup, I don't waste any time in getting my butt in the chair. Take it from me and give him a try, you will never look for another dentist! read more

I've been coming to Dr Kamali for the past 13 years and he's a wonderful dentist. His staff has always been very courteous and professional whenever I have had an appointment or have questions. His facility is clean, quiet, and makes the whole process of having to visit a dentist a lot more enjoyable! Dr Kamali never makes me feel like I'm just another person he needs to see, he takes his time and always remembers details about my life which really makes me feel that he cares about his patients. His secretary also always calls you to remind you of your appointment which is very helpful because of my chaotic schedule especially while I was in school. The pricing at his practice is very reasonable and I have never had any trouble with feeling as though I'm being pressured to spend money on unnecessary treatments like other dentists may do. If you are looking for a kind, professional staff in a open and calm facility to get your dental work done, I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Kamali. read more

We've been coming to this practice for YEARS! Moving out of the area didn't prevent us from staying, nor does paying out of pocket. Dr. Kamali is warm, friendly, and professional. I feel safe in his hands. The staff is wonderful (Stephanie has been a loyal gem). I highly recommend this practice. read more

Dr. Kamali and his staff were all very kind. When I chose a filling that wasn't covered by my insurance (the ceramic white one instead of the silver), Dr. Kamali automatically gave me a discounted rate and didn't even mention that it was cheaper (I found out by asking from his staff). The receptionists are both really sweet too. As well as both of the cleaning/x-ray technicians. I really like the people at this office and will continue to see Dr. Kamali as my dentist. read more

Last week I had my first appointment with Dr. Kamali, Everyone was super nice, and there were lots of friendly faces in there. I thought that ladies in the front were nice and super helpful. After my check up, I was told I needed 4 cavities filled. So I mad an appointment to go back to following Monday. The scheduling was quick and easy and Dr. Kamali made sure that the numbing was in full effect before he started drilling. I was in and out before I knew it. They were really easy to work with and really tried to fit my needs while I was in there. I think I've found my new permanent dentist ! read more

Approximately 3 years ago, I had a bridge made by Dr. Kamali. Getting the bridge was problematic and difficult, due to a combination of grinding and material failures. Dr. Kamali stuck with it and finally had the bridge made from zirconium. Early this year, I began having problems with it...pain when chewing and a sensation of looseness. The bridge needed to be replaced. This possibly is related to continuing issues with grinding which puts extreme pressure on the bridge, and the long span (2 pontics). Dr. Kamali stood by his work and made a new one for no charge. His positive attitude was wonderful. He suggested trying metal as possibly less likely to get damaged. It was delivered yesterday and I am hopeful for years of use. read more

This dental office is the best run dental office I have ever encountered and I've tried quite a few in my life. The staff is well organized and the whole operation runs smoothly. You never wait for long in the waiting room after checking. I have always been in the chair and work beginning at my appointment time. I have encounter offices where I have had to wait 2 to 3 hours before even getting in to a chair. I had 5 teeth extracted yesterday. I have had many teeth extracted over time. I can truly said this was the smoothest I have ever had. I was numbed first and didn't feel a thing and it was over. There was some slight pressure, but I didn't even feel the pressure when the teeth actually let go and came out. Less than 24 hours have passed and I am in great shape and no pain. I am not even on pain meds now. If you are looking for a dentist, I would suggest Dr. Kamali at La Mesa Family Dental. read more

I went in because of a toothach receptionist talks to you in a rude abrubt manner as if you are a child. and when you ask her to repeat something or question something she gets very defensive. Besides that I am very unhappy with how the dentist was requested a bunch of stuff I didnt need. He abrubplty admitted he doesnt get paid full price for some of the work and he would loose money and my insurance sucks! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!he based his treatment on how much he would make off me, basically!!! seems they are only out to get your money not to make sure saving your teeth are their priority. To top it off I almost got hit with instruments while getting work done... and I meand sharp instruments SMH!!! I witnessed the receptionist swindle the elderley patients into paying upfront for the dental work and insisting they recieved the DISCOUNTED rate! your joking right! then when you question the cost of everything she gets very defensive!! HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEY ARE ONLY OUT TO GET YOUR MONEY FOR THERE OWN BENEFIT!!!! I will be defentily filing a complaint with my insurance about them. This has to stop! How many poor elderly people have they taken advantage off?? NOT RIGHT!!! read more
