Tacos de tripa (pink and red plates); huarache de al pastor (nude plate)
Abraham C.

This taqueria was a block away from our hotel, Zocalo Central. We had seen it mentioned in multiple videos as excellent tacos so we decided to give it a visit. In the first visit I got 3 different tacos: Suadero: 4/5 Tripa: 5/5 (ordered it doradita, since I like it extra crispy) Al pastor: 2/5 The tripa was what I was least looking forward to and what was surprisingly my favorite - to the point that when we came back, I ordered all tripa. I was most excited but most disappointed by the Al pastor. It was pretty bland and subpar to Al pastor I've had in Sonora and Baja California. Honestly, I've had better Al pastor in Arizona. Service was quick and very friendly. The top level is very spacious, you just need to go up the stairs. You also have the choice of sitting out front or downstairs in the back. Overall, it was a good experience but I wouldn't make the trip here for Al Pastor. They have a 3 for 36 peso special (all tacos need to be the same). Which I think is well worth it if you get a taco you like!

Us enjoying the chilly night out.

It was good, but not great. Pros: the Al pastor w cheese are bomb The outdoor seating is cute Near the Presidency and also a mall, making it extremely walkable. Cons: The salsas looked sus, I asked for Jalapeños toreados. There were tons of homeless coming up to you. If you have eaten in Downtown LA or even at the Mills it's a similar feel. Not terrible but would probably look for a different spot.

Dry ass tacos

We saw that this was a popular spot and got 3 tacos. We got the al pastor tacos. The taco meat was bland and dry and the tacos overall were super tasteless. It did not taste like anything. The meat needed salt and the tacos needed like salsa cuz it was so dry. And also, one of the tacos the meat was burnt and super dried out. Like eating char. Tacos are really cheap though!

I don't know about the review saying these tacos are dry. You need to add the salsa they bring to you. All of our tacos were great. Had the Al Pastor with cheese, Lengua, and Cachete. Quick service too.

Location location location. This taqueria is smack in the middle of a high foot traffic block along a hip strip in CDMX. Good atmosphere of you like the open style. Even by myself I found it a bit cramped. I did, however, have the best view in front of the grill. Layers.of cactus was being cooked before my eyes. Everyone is working hard but don't expect 5 star service. They want to serve you fast. The lengua was fine but not punching with taste of beef tongue. Pastor was nice and the spit was good. Nothing fancy but nice experience nonetheless.

Pastor Tacos: $30,00 each

During my CDMX taco crawl on a Sunday afternoon I at one point was simply looking for the largest pastor spit out there, and I found that at Arandas. While the spit was impressive, the tacos were just okay. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You don't need much Spanish to get through any taco joint in Mexico City, but even as I stumbled through it the guys and gals at Arandas were in a cheery mood and kept me comfortable. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? At $30MXP each the tacos at Arandas aren't cheap by Mexico City standards, but they're also a bit larger than your standard street tacos and the peripherals are generously portioned. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? As I mentioned these were just okay. The tortillas weren't strong, and there really wasn't all that generous a portion of actual pastor on these tacos as you can possibly make out from the picture. While the flavor was good, there just wasn't enough of it. To finish things off, the salsas were a bit weak. No Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? There are simply much better street taco options in CDMX. No Star.

The place was packed. We managed to fine seats on the third floor but was somewhat disappointed with the tacos we order. The ingredients use was good just lack a bit of flavor. Both the pastor and lengua tacos tasted a bit bland. The tacos with cheeks was tasty tho and flavorful.

Delicious tacos al pastor and lengua. Hawaiian Torta is a must! Very cheap and very flavorful food!

Al pastor tacos were very dry and flavorless. It's super hot and crowded, especially on the first floor. Would not recommend.

This time there were about 10 people waiting and I finally decided it was worth it... and it absolutely was. The tacos were incredible, the service was fast, and they bring out 5-6 different sauces so you can try different flavors with everything. I sat outside, which made the experience even better great people-watching, amazing energy, and everyone walking by looked effortlessly stylish. Mexico City really is such a trendy, vibrant city. Honestly, I still think about these tacos. I could close my eyes and dream about this place.

Full disclaimer: these are my first tacos in Mexico City. The trumpo was really good!! Highly recommend! The res was good too, but not super standout. The chicharron itself was really good, but I don't know if I love it in a taco. The trumpo with the pineapple really stole the show. It's nice that the 3 tacos come with some potatoes. The potatoes were good! It seemed smashed then fried. Can't go wrong with frying potatoes. Food came out fast! It seems like this place can get super packed and busy, which I would think is a good sign!

We went classic with an order of four churros and the trio of dips: chocolate, guava, and cajeta. Perfect move. Each person in our family had a different favorite dip, which meant the churros disappeared very quickly. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and best enjoyed dunked generously. Despite the crowds, service was prompt, friendly, and efficient, which made the experience even better. Simple, iconic, and delicious--El Moro is a must-try (and re-try) when you're in Mexico City.

Got an order of 4 churros with caramel (cajeta) and guava (Guayaba) dipping sauces, they were out of chocolate. You can have them tossed in regular sugar or cinnamon sugar which is traditional. The churros were warm and crispy on the outside and soft inside but had a slight burnt flavor. Both dipping sauces were good but in a different way. It's like donuts topped with caramel or guava, one is more fruity and the other more sweet. Just depends what you're in the mood for or what you prefer. I also got the frances hot chocolate which is their hot chocolate with vanilla. It was better than what I had earlier at another place. Overall the churros were good but not the best i've had.

The four varieties offered were Chicharron en Adobo (pork rinds in adobo), Chicharron en Salsa Verde (pork rinds in green salsa), Frijoles Refritos (refried beans), and Papa (potatoes). Incredibly, each taco came at just 10 pesos, and you could help yourself to as much guacamole salsa, shredded lettuce, and pickled carrots/jalapeños as you'd like. The Chicharron tacos were meaty, while the Papa was starchy and mild. The one taco that was nearly inedible, however, was the Frijoles Refritos, which were incredibly salty. It was worth coming here for the atmosphere and the quick, inexpensive bites, but this place is certainly not worth going out of the way for.
