Lately you have to pay extra for this bread option. Note that in the past the pie came with the meal one night a week.. That ended some time ago and now you get a piece of sheet cake. Unfortunately, the expert pie crust does not extend to the homemade chicken pot pie. Marie Callender or Swanson's frozen chicken pot pie will be just as good for a lot less. Once I tasted the chicken pot pie, I decided to give Stockwell's a wide berth. At $10.50 I can do better a lot of places. However, on 6/19 I braked for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I was hungry, didn't feel like cooking and it sounded good. it did not include cranberry sauce, which is on my list of trimmings. Oh well. The gravy was so overly salted it ruined everything it touched - that means the mashed potatoes, the dressing, and the turkey. I mean REALLY over-salted. I salt my food, so I am not anti-salt. I'm not much of a cook, but had I turned out gravy like this, I would have tossed it in the trash and opened a can of store-bought gravy. There is no excuse for anyone serving anything this overly salted - much less a professional cook who is charging you good money. When I mentioned the salty gravy to a neighbor, she said she had heard others comment that Stockwell's over-salted their food. I called the next day and talked to an employee about the situation, asking for a partial refund or a no-charge replacement turkey-mashed potatoes-dressing-gravy the next time it was on the menu. The employee was sympathetic and took a message. I waited over 2 weeks to write this negative review, giving the owner lots of time to respond to my complaint and make it right. I like to support local businesses, but the businesses have to be worth supporting by delivering a good product or service. Anyone can make a mistake, but if you can't address the mistake.....

Nicole was super responsive and helped us build the perfect menu for over 75 guests. For our package we picked Spinach & Artichoke Dip, double Blooming Charcuterie, Crudité Platter, Fruit Platter and a Caprese Crostini. We chose to pick up the items on the morning of the wedding and setup the table ourselves. Nicole made sure we had plenty of plates and serve ware. She helped to make ensure we had gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Everything was so fresh, delicious and beautifully arranged. They only thing I noticed was we had an abundance of spinach dip left. It was delicious, but I think we could've used more naan bread or we might have been fine with a smaller portion. All the other plates were empty by the end of the night. Nicole also included some really special on theme cheeses on our boards knowing that we had The Taco Truck of Clinton for dinner. We couldn't have asked for a better, more mouthwatering and beautiful spread for our wedding. Highly recommend!

This is an interesting spot in downtown Dundee. Located on the fringe of the business district in…read morewhat appears to have been a residential property built several decades ago, it could be easy to overlook. But it is done very nicely inside with a very inviting ambiance and it has an attractive appeal. I am giving this place the benefit of the doubt with four stars because it is a bit of a mixed review. Our experience was mostly positive, however. As mentioned, the decor is quite lovely. It exudes the country style ambiance and I like the way their front counter is set up to present a country store look. But it seems to be a country store and deli in one. I think they could do a good job of this except they really don't quite have the space to pull it off as well as they could. It's a bit cramped and the seating space is very, very limited with perhaps enough room for six or eight patrons. We were fortunate no one else was there when we visited such that we were able to sit at one of the tables to have our lunch. To be fair, they may be targeting take-away patrons more than eat-in customers. Another aspect of the mixed reviews was the food. First, I have to say I loved the creative names they presented for their daily fare in honor of Christmas, using the Home Alone movie as a basis. For example, I had the Look-What-You-Did-You-Little-Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The menu was rather limited in number of offerings, but there were enough. The soups were quite tempting with Stuffed Pepper and Baked Potato available. Both were excellent. My wife made a lunch just from the Stuffed Pepper soup. The Jerk Chicken, however, did not have much jerk to it. It might have been better named Exemplar or Paragon Chicken, because it was not at all Jerky. In fact, it was rather plain and dry. I saved half and used a mayo/mustard combo as a dip when I ate my leftover...and it was much better. I will say that the portion was very good, however. It was more than I needed to eat in one sitting. The prices also took me a little aback. For two cups of soup, one wrap with chips, a coffee, a latte, a cookie and a gift container of five macarons, our total bill was $43.00. Take away the macarons, which were not part of lunch, and it was still $27. But given that my wife's lunch was a cup of soup, a latte and half a cookie, $13.50 per person is a little steep. Maybe it's just that everything is getting over-the-top expensive everywhere, but this just struck me as a bit much. Overall, it was a very pleasant little shop with good presentation, good coffee, tasty soup and nice sweets. The wrap needed a little something extra but otherwise, it was pretty good. I'd like to give it another try sometime.

Never again. I wish…read moreI could leave negative Stars purely on the treatment from management and ethics. To be fair there are some good points but I guess I will address those first number one the Ambiance is very nice if you like history an old architecture it's worth popping in if you are near nearby. I will also say that I am pretty critical on my coffee but it appears the coffee portion of this restaurant has its own name and I will write an extremely positive review accordingly as the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. That being said the rest of the experience was negative. We should have known something walking in when we saw what appeared to be two other local couples going to the cute little restaurant next door which looked reasonably busy and when we went in there's only one other couple there. That should have been a red flag. But it looks so quaint and Charming we wanted to try it. Her breakfast was fair but it's hard to mess up whipped cream and strawberries LOL you'd almost have to be pure evil not to like the combination LOL. My breakfast however was a disappointing experience say the least.... let me preface this with the fact that I have a pretty decent barometer 4 brisket as my buddies and I smoke brisket all the time and have been in some competitions. That being said for approximately $14 for breakfast skillet that better be some damn good brisket. And it wound up being very rubbery!!! and just taste it off like it had been sitting out forever.!!! On top of that after taking only one bite decided to send it back and the waitress could not care less and took $3 off the bill ....? basically you're telling me I ate $11 worth of Skillet after I told you to come back and have the chef taste it please!!!!!!!????? it was like it was microwaved from the previous night The sauce on it was like knock off ketchup packets or should i say katsup! Lol Rude and discourteous to say the least I'm sorry the Ambiance is great and the coffee was actually one of the best cups I ever had but to charge for food that I wouldn't even give our dogs!! just wrong and then to not even care about it no.!! We saw everyone going next door and wondered why some place so large had such little business. Now we know why all the locals were going next door and why a restaurant next to a restaurant still survives. After you eat here you will be eating next door also.
