We decided to pay the extra $20 fee to make a homemade candle and came early to smell all the available fragrances. You can bring your own drinks (alcoholic is OK) and snacks for a fun, relaxing social evening with friends, family or co-workers. The first step is setting your candle wick into the clear glass container. You put a gizmo that holds the wick so it stays centered in the container. After we finally chose the fragrance and a color to tint the wax, it was easy to pour in the fragrance into the cup of warmed up wax. Then pour it into the container and let it sit to cool off and firm up. Everything is set up in advance at the various painting stations. The paints for your particular painting, 3 brushes to use - a large, medium and a finer brush. The instructor walks you through what to do with the appropriate brush and paint color. You can watch the instructor live or also on the TV screens. They will also walk around and help you if you need assistance. Since the instructor walks you through the process step by step, anyone can make a painting that you will be proud of. My only suggestion was that the smallest brush I was given wasn't quite fine enough for my liking. I like to paint fine details. After everyone is done, they take a big group photo at the end and it's fun to see all the different variations of the end product. It was a really fun, casual evening and I can't wait to do another one!

The ladies running the place and I had a great rapport with each other. So good in fact that by the end of the visit they were trying to talk me into signing up to take some quilting classes! I politely declined because as I looked around, the woman who were there working on their quilts had WAY more skills than I think I could EVER develop! Seriously, this place has several highly talented people working here, so if you are in the market to learn how to quilt, I am pretty certain you will find the iron that will sharpen your iron right here in this place!

He said it was because we were only a party of three, and he had a full house with the larger groups having priority for being placed in the front. Our seats were assigned at the very end in the back. We could still see from the back, but we had to get up a few times and walk over to the front to get a better look at the details of his painting. Overall, it was a fun experience. We made the best of it being together and enjoyed our delicious charcuterie style BYO snacks and beverages. There was a good set of 90s music playing in the background, lots of laughter and good vibes from the other attending groups, and the assistant was super attentive to our needs. It is suggested to bring clothes that you don't mind if paint gets on them. Also, some paint techniques require you to use your fingers to flick paint onto the canvas. I just wish we would have known about the seat assignments ahead of time, I would have brought my eye glasses, lol
