I looked for a shop nearby and luckily Enfield Scuba was only 10 minutes away! From the first time I stepped foot into the shop to the day I got my open water certification (yesterday), everyone I met has been beyond friendly and accommodating. From the shop owner John, to our diving instructors Chris and CJ, to the shop manager John, I felt more comfortable than I expected to be in a situation where I knew nothing and was basically starting from scratch. Words can't even express how incredible the whole experience was, and I'm considering getting my advanced open water certification through Enfield Scuba as well since I had such a great time with my open water. If you're unsure about getting a PADI certification, then here is your sign to just do it. You won't regret it!

Even though this wasn't a certification course, the workshop provided practical setup advice and technical insights that are hard to find elsewhere.   Nick's technical knowledge is expansive; he was able to address every question or concern the group had with ease. What impressed me most was his willingness to help outside the specific scope of the workshop--if we had a scuba-related subject we were curious about, he would work with us one-on-one to provide pointers or recommendations. It shows he's invested in the diver's overall success, not just checking boxes for the day's lesson.   He clearly cares about the curriculum and his students. He went over the allotted time both days to ensure we truly understood the material, and I wouldn't have shortened it by a single minute. If you are looking to fine-tune and improve your in-water skills, I highly recommend his Advanced Buoyancy, Movement, and Positioning Techniques workshop.

The instructors and dive masters at Kraken are the epitome of professionalism. They possess a deep knowledge of scuba diving and a genuine passion for teaching. Each lesson was conducted with the utmost care, ensuring that every student fully understood the material and felt comfortable with each skill before moving on. Their patience was truly commendable, making sure that everyone single diver felt confident and supported. What truly sets Kraken apart is their comprehensive approach to training and the personalized manner in which they approached it. In the confined water they covered every aspect of skills in detail, from the "why" to the practical skills needed for safe and enjoyable diving. The course was meticulously structured, allowing us to build our knowledge and skills progressively. I appreciated the emphasis on safety, which was woven into every lesson and practice dive. The open water checkouts were incredibly well-organized, with ample opportunities to practice and refine our skills. The instructors were available to answer questions and provide additional guidance, ensuring that each student received personalized attention. The smaller group sizes allowed for more one-on-one instruction, which greatly enhanced the learning experience. I would give out personalized shout outs but every time I turned around there was another member of the Kraken Krew ready to help me with anything I had questions on, and I asked a lot. It is very evident of their passion for teaching, mentorship and scuba as a whole. I cannot recommend Kraken highly enough for anyone looking to obtain their Open Water Scuba Certification. The professionalism, patience, and comprehensive training provided by the instructors create an unparalleled learning experience. I feel fully prepared and confident to embark on my scuba diving adventures all thanks Anna's incredible Kraken Krew! Thank you for making this journey so enjoyable and rewarding, I am a scuba diver!

It fit far to loosely allowing the air tank to roll back and forth on my back pulling me with it. I advised each instructor I worked with of the issue. Each agreed the BC was too loose but no one was able to correct it. Finally on the second to last pool session a "helper" asked John (the owner of the shop) to look at it. John advised the straps on the BC were not threaded correctly. He was able to adjust it in minutes. Unfortunately with only one more pool session I did not have time to practice all the required skills to be able to complete my check out dives now that I could keep myself upright in the water. We were originally broken out into groups and I later found the groups had practiced different skills and some of us had missed vital training others had received. The entire group did not receive training on how to read the regulator information, but were told to look it up online. Unfortunately my regulator was not available online and come to find out the one on my BC didn't work at all. At one point John told me he didn't like working with new divers because he doesn't have the patience. That became very clear as time went on. If all goes well you may be OK taking diving lessons here. But beware if you need individual attention you may not get it ending up in a waste of time and money when you are not able to complete your check out dives to become a certified diver. They did offer me the "opportunity" to repeat the course which includes a 45-60 minute drive each way for the pool sessions. If I had never mentioned it to them, it would be on me. But I did every week. As I do not have confidence in the training provided, or the lack of them taking accountability for putting me n a BC that was not correctly fitted in my first session, I have declined their offer.
