I went into Iconic Dental with a single problematic tooth that was causing mild discomfort. Two…read moreweeks later, after a root canal, an infection, a painful abscess, and ultimately learning that the tooth had a cracked root and needed extraction, I can confidently say this was the worst dental experience of my life. After X-rays, the dentist informed me that I needed a root canal and offered to perform it immediately. Given a busy schedule the following week, I appreciated the convenience. Unfortunately, concerns began almost immediately. Throughout the appointment, the office felt unusually disorganized. During a simple blood pressure check, one assistant had me holding my arm in midair before another corrected the process and had me rest it on my chest. During the procedure itself, the dentist frequently had to provide very specific instructions to assistants. At one point, when asking for suction, she had to clarify, "Not that one, the other one, the green one." Individually these may seem minor, but collectively they created the impression of a team that was not operating smoothly. The root canal itself appeared more difficult than expected. When the procedure was over, I told the dentist that the tooth was already hurting even though I was still numb from the Novocain. I was told to take Tylenol when I got home and was sent on my way. By Saturday, my cheek had started to swell. I assumed some swelling was normal. By Sunday, the swelling had increased dramatically, and I called the emergency line. The dentist prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen. By Monday morning, my cheek and jaw had swollen to the point that I could only partially open my mouth. At my follow-up appointment, the dentist diagnosed an abscess and attempted to drain it. This involved injecting anesthetic directly into the infected area, which was excruciating, followed by manually expressing the abscess. It was, without question, the most painful dental experience I have ever endured. I left the office wondering whether I was even fit to drive home. Concerned that something more serious was wrong, I sought a second opinion that same afternoon from Dental Depot in The Colony. After taking an X-ray, they identified the problem almost immediately: the tooth had a cracked root and was not salvageable. Their recommendation was extraction. What troubles me most is not that a complication occurred. Dentistry, like any profession, involves difficult cases and imperfect outcomes. What concerns me is that I entered the office with a mildly painful tooth and left on a path that resulted in severe swelling, infection, an abscess, and ultimately the loss of the tooth anyway. The contrast between my condition before treatment and after treatment is difficult to ignore. Based on my experience, Iconic Dental may be adequate for routine cleanings and basic dental care. However, I would not trust them with a complex procedure, nor would I recommend them to friends or family. In contrast, Dental Depot demonstrated professionalism, urgency, competence, and clear communication from the moment I arrived. The difference between the two experiences was night and day. If I could do it over again, I would have gone there first.

Was told that they took it and I would only have to pay $50 deposit which would be deducted from my co-pay or refunded if no copay. In same phone call, I informed them I only needed a cleaning and nothing else since I had just had all x-rays done 6 months before at previous dentist and would have records sent to them. So i paid the deposit, had my old dentist forward my records, and spent over an hour completing all the on-line forms for their office. When I showed up to appointment, they presented me with this HUGE bill to pay before they do anything. When I reminded them about the insurance verification and filing, I was told they did not know how much would be refunded to me by insurance so I would have to pay and then wait to see. Since I felt lied to, I cancelled the appointment for which they charged me $150!

I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with this office, which is especially…read moreupsetting because I had a great visit here last year and was very happy with their care at the time. This year, leading up to my annual cleaning, the office called me multiple times throughout the week asking me to move my scheduled Saturday 12:30 PM appointment to an earlier time (around 10 AM). I clearly explained each time that I work long hours and that 12:30 PM was the earliest I could come. Despite this, they continued to pressure me to change my appointment. On the morning of my appointment, they called again and told me they needed me to come earlier because "the doctor did not want to wait two hours for my appointment." I was also told they "usually close early," which makes me question why they even offer later appointment times if they are unwilling to honor them. I was then told that I would need to reschedule, even though I was fully willing and able to attend my original appointment. I had already rearranged my schedule and stacked multiple medical appointments on my only day off that week specifically to accommodate this visit. Like many working adults, I have very limited flexibility during business hours, and I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a healthcare office to respect a time slot that they themselves scheduled. As someone who works in healthcare, I found this extremely unprofessional and not patient-centered at all. When I later decided to cancel because I no longer felt comfortable with the level of professionalism, the receptionist simply said, "Okay, I will cancel your appointment and inactivate your account. Goodbye." No apology, no attempt to address the issue, no basic courtesy. Patients should not be made to feel like their time is less valuable than a provider's convenience. The lack of respect, communication, and professionalism throughout this entire interaction was shocking. I will not be returning and would not recommend this office based on this experience.

He has no significant dental issues, but unfortunately, my circumstances have been more complex. During a procedure, the dentist inadvertently damaged my front bridge--an expensive restoration that had been carefully placed by my previous provider in Seattle. While I understand that accidents can happen, what deeply concerned me was the way the situation was handled. Rather than acknowledging the damage or offering an apology, the dentist allowed me to leave the office without telling me it was damaged; I had to discover it at home. When I later addressed the issue, I was offered a minimal "repair". Unfortunately, the "repair" left the bridge with a very noticeable permanent defect. Based on this experience, I am not confident recommending this office to others.
