I remember being fascinated by the plumbing setup in that store. There was basically a network of plumbing under your feet. I think the new store is by appointment only and I've been there a few times. It's worth the phone call and personal attention. Call to confirm this though, I am not 100% sure. I consider myself well-versed in the hobby but that doesn't mean I don't need a hand from time-to-time and it certainly doesn't mean I know everything. Some of my coral wasn't looking so good and I just wanted someone to take a look and offer their opinion. Downs did just that. I called Downs at noon on a Friday and they were booked for the day but he still stopped by at the end of the day to help out. I figured I wouldn't see anyone for at least a few days, never mind same-day. He was concerned that if we waited to long I might lose a few pieces and he didn't want that to happen. Downs is a really good guy. Doesn't try to shove products down your throat or his methods. This hobby definitely isn't a one-size-fits-all and he understands that. While I don't think he agreed with all of my methods, he considers them and works around them. While I enjoy doing my own water-changes and maintaining my own tank, I will definitely have Downs by once a month just to look things over. One other important thing to mention and this may or may not be important to most people. With babies and kids in the house, we take our shoes off. As soon as Downs walked in, he took his shoes off before I even had to ask. Now imagine having them service your tank(s)? Drop-clothes, plastic, I am sure they are meticulous. We would NEVER EVER call upon this company again to do work on our pond. Darian sold the job by…read morebragging about how they do big jobs, lakes, condos, etc. We bought the story and decided that he was the one that would to a great job for us. To start with, the service people stepped all over beautiful plants that had just been installed; they broke decorative birds that filled the yard; they didn't know how to install a skimmer properly; they broke the railings on a decorative bridge that spanned our pond; they had to ask us for the proper chemicals required to return fish to new chlorine water; they had to use our hoses; they didn't have a regular schedule to return to complete work so that we had to be available for them; a part was needed for an installation and so there was a "used" one in their truck, and we were charged for it after being billed thousands of dollars for the job; the decorative stones were not returned and stacked properly and so my husband and I have to do it; and when a hole was dug for the filter, an electric line was cut because the worker dug where he was told not to! They got paid...though I don't know why, but I will never call upon them again, and all my pond owning and loving friends here on LI know exactly who NOT to call if they need any work on their property. Some were so expensive it felt overwhelming and like we were buying a house, not a waterfall. Another two companies kept telling us they would get back to us and never did. Then we called Aquarium Design Network New York, Inc. and talked with Darian first over the phone and then in person. From the first phone call, we could tell that he knew his business. He was professional, polite and cared about what we wanted. When we first met Darian, he was on time, knowledgeable, caring, and didn't try to sell us things we didn't need, but gave us great ideas we never thought of. Darian didn't just listened to what we wanted, but the way we wanted it. We agreed on a very reasonable price, set a starting date and a few days later, we met Darian's staff, Phil and Andrew. When they first introduced themselves, they were on time, professional, knowledgeable, friendly and they took great care in the vision we wanted. They shared some great ideas and we were so confident in what they were doing. We saw they had such a passion and loved what they did, so we just let them create it. What a beautiful creation they made! They went above and beyond and it shows. All through the project, Darian always kept in touch, answered all our questions and always sent us a text message to let us know what time the workers would be arriving and even stopping by to make sure everything was going smoothly and it did. The whole process was stress free and unbelievably true. We, our family and friends all love it in the day and night!! We wouldn't use anyone else and would highly recommended Aquarium Design Network New York, Inc.

The ship-to-store option is almost nowhere to be found on website, until you click on "show all rates" button in cart after you put in your zip code and city. Don't expect a product you saw on the website to be in store. I traveled quite far to the Lindenhurst location to pick up some frozen fish food that was available to order on their website. Of course, it's not there. I called the Carle Place location, and they don't have it either. Now, the staff at the store were quite friendly and tried to assist, but they just lacked the knowledge. Most questions I asked, I could not get an answer. The store is neat and a brief look at the fish department, showed a nice selection that I would purchase, but the staff needs more education. An employee at the Carle Place location told me that the website is linked to the Lindenhurst store location, so they should have the product. Like I said, they didn't and the employee seems to be incorrect.

We went today (3/13/2021)! I really enjoyed it! I've never been to an aquarium and I imagine this…read moreis a great place for a first timer or an any timer! There were 9 of us, most of which have been to an aquarium before.... we ranged from 5 to 70+ years old! It took us about 2.5 hours to see all the winter time exhibits. Which is plenty of time for a 5 and 6 year old! Definitely does need some touch up in the cosmetic department but overall it was a great experience. I really loved how they had various "touch pools" where the kids could touch the different sea things, from shark casings to manta rays! Absolutely amazing! My son was really disappointed though the main thing he wanted to see was an octopus, while they had 2 of them they both were extremely small. Which a full grown octopus is probably dangerous, or even hard to upkeep it would have been nice to see one that was slightly bigger. They do require you to wear a mask and overall the exhibits and guests do pretty well with social distancing except under the shark exhibit..... it gets pretty crowded in there. We got to see a Sea Lion show which was amazing! Highly enjoyed that, it's so amazing that they're able to train the Sea Lions to do all kinds of cool stuff. I mean I've seen Free Willy and various other movies before so I knew it was possible but it's a whole different thing to see it in person lol! I do recommend if they're not going to have staff at all of the exhibits to put signs up that say "please don't tap on the glass" because I guess not everyone has seen Free Willy or even Finding Nemo.... I had to tell a grown person not to top on the glass and he's like "why?" I'm like would you want someone to keep knocking on your door or window?! Like come on people! They also have animals that don't live in the water like Marmosets! (My favorite animal by the way). As well as other monkeys! They even have butterflies! The butterfly exhibit is really cool! Definitely check that out! TWO butterflies landed on me! I guess I'm extra lucky.

The Pros: Very family-friendly: It is a wonderful spot to bring children. There is plenty to keep little ones engaged, between the touch tanks, the sea lion show, and the variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits.  Wonderful staff: Every employee we interacted with was genuinely nice, helpful, and patient, which always makes an outing with the family so much smoother.  The Cons: Confusing parking situation: There isn't an obvious, dedicated on-site lot right out front, so if you don't know the Riverhead area well, figuring out where to go is pretty iffy and confusing.  Paying to park on top of pricey tickets: Having to pay for parking after already shelling out for admission feels like a kick while you're down. The tickets themselves are very expensive, so when you add on parking and any extras, the total for a family outing adds up shockingly fast. A solid, memorable experience for the kids, but you definitely have to brace your wallet and do a little homework on where to park before you head out!
